The likelihood of India putting up 300+ totals on subcontinental tracks is far far higher than the likelihood of India's top order collapsing. But the likelihood of Indian bowlers getting spanked around in subcontinental tracks is also higher. So we have to shake up the balance of the side and see if 5 bowlers theory will work. We shouldnt try it against Netherlands or Ireland. We should try it against South Africa. Among the bowlers sitting in the bench right now (Ashwin, Nehra and Sreesanth), Ashwin is the better bat (he even scored a 25 against Australia in the warmup). He has to be picked. Drop Chawla and pick Nehra. Leave the rest as it is.
India's lack of understanding the importance of bowlers is going to cost them big time, I am afraid.

People talk about Zaheer Kahn like he's freaking Wasim Akram. He's not, folks, he's a great bowler no doubt, but if India wants to call itself the best team in the world, we need to find a better spearhead than Zaheer. He should be a second bowler at best on a good attack.
Of course, our curators keep putting together 1000 run mattresses . . .
Until we start preparing sporting pitches, we wont find a better bowler than Zaheer Khan. For India (with its history of fast bowlers), Zaheer Khan is Wasim Akram (which is gold). I just wish and pray that Ishant Sharma and Irfan Pathan hit back hard and solves a lil' bit of our fast bowling problems. Even if Irfan can bowl in the 130's like Zaheer, he should be fine. Just bring in control and he will prove so handy.

I'd want Dhoni to try out the five bowler strategy against Ireland. Their confidence must have reached a crescendo after annihilating England, and if we want to secure a quarter final berth, we cannot afford to be languid and lethargic in our bowling against them.
Let's rest some of the key players against Holland, as they are obviously not a big headache, to give them ample time to revitalize before the two important games. We can then go all guns blazing against the Irish.
I'm hoping to see him back soon after the WC. He is looking in fact feeling better in his words. Saw his interview on Neo Dial C for cricket before the WC, he himself is looking to come back as a bowler which is a good thing.Even if Irfan can bowl in the 130's like Zaheer, he should be fine.
