Indian Domestic Cricket

Mumbai is historically one of the stronger teams and it looks like it will remain like that for a while still. In fact, Mumbai have won 4 of the last 10 Ranji Trophy tournaments. Kerala is actually in the plate league of the Ranji trophy. Orissa have recently been promoted back into the Super League along with Himachal Pradesh (not sure if they were there earlier).

These are essentially the future of Indian international cricket playing here, except if ICL gains official status. Probably the main tournament to watch out for will be the NPK Salve Challenger Trophy as it will feature Indian internationals (or should, unless international commitments get in the way).
Not strong anymore this is 2021 but yes they have Pocket Size Dynamo named Prithvi Shaw who shines with his superb batting

How can he get attention with this performance?
He become first Indian player who signed for BBL 2021(Mens)

Karnataka wins the Super Over to go through to yet another Semis. Karun Nair had a great match after a while there! Karnataka are clearly the best domestic side in India in the last decade or so!!

Meanwhile Sarfaraz Khan for Mumbai in Ranji is on another level yet another 100 for him and jinks Rahane horror continues as he got out for a golden duck.

Sarfaraz has to be the next middle-order option we try. Has been an absolute monster whenever he's played.

Could be the fitness bit thats holding him back from being even in the reserves of the Test squad. With Pujara and Rahane out of the team for a while, it's time for him to be at least be a backup for the middle order. Can't ignore those numbers for too long.

I get the fitness concerns but when you're batting for 200 balls in every innings you can't really be that unfit. He's definitely getting into the India A team for their next tour and if he performs there I think he'll be included in the main squad

Valid point that.

He was included in the A setup vs South Africa last year scored an 80 odd in one of the innings.

Unfortunately due to COVID there is hardly any A tour that happened over the last 3 years.

One thing I've noticed and what many people miss is the importance given to India A performances in selection. India have by far played the most A team matches out of any country in recent times, and this was even more striking before the pandemic.
Navdeep Saini, Mohammad Siraj, Suryakumar Yadav and Saurabh Kumar are the few names in recent times I can remember who were selected largely due to their A team performances.
It's one of the best things in Indian cricket imo, giving the promising players a chance to play FC matches overseas and face international teams is pretty cool. Siraj once took a 7fer for India A against an Australian team with multiple international players. No wonder he looked prepared when he made his debut

Even the selections of Vihari, Pant, Agarwal & Gill was due to their performance in the India A games that played a key role.

During the 2018 England Tour the A team was also there in England playing the England lions with likes of Pant scoring hundreds and immediately making his debut for the senior team and the rest is history.
