Story Indian Premier League[C07]-Mumbai vs Bangalore - Who won??

Kolkata vs Bangalore
Indian Premier League
Eden Gardens , Kolkata
End of 10 overs

Saurav Ganguly won the toss and had decided to bat first on a good batting pitch . Kolkata started the game very well . Gilly and Trescothick went after the bowlers during the opening over when the fielding restriction were their . Trescothick was looking the most dangerous as he smashed a boundary over the bowlers head for 4 of Styen in the first over itself . He smashed Bracken out of the ground the next over itself . While Gilly was quiet . But soon he also unleashed himself . He smashed Styen for a huge six over mid on and then in the next over he smashed Bracken for a huge six over extra cover . Fans were having some great entertainment with some music , dancing girls and some superb shots by the two openers . Rahul Dravid was unable to set particular field for a particular batsmen . Kolkata scored some 38 runs of the first 5 overs .

Bracken was given the last over before the ending of fielding restrictions . But he was also expensive in that over as he went for 1 four over mid on and 1 six over point and 1 couple all runs were scored by Trescothick . Anil Kumble was given the attack . Gilly smashed him for 10 runs in his first which included 1 four bisecting long on and long off and 1 six over mid wicket . Thats was a great sweep by Gilly . Harbhajan Singh was given the ball and he went for four twos in the over . Jack Kallis was handed the ball . And that was an inspired bowling change as Kallis got Trescothick clean bowled for 45 of 34 balls . The partnership of 69 runs came to an end . Uthappa came to bat and he got 2 twos of the last two balls . Harbhajan Singh was again replaced by Anil Kumble . This time Kumble went for 8 runs including 2 twos and 1 boundary over covers . So at the end of 10 overs Kolkata were in the driving 86/1 at 8.6 rpo .

Fantastic start by us, Gilly and Tresco are the perfect opening pair. Now to really push on and make sure we are around 200-210 at least.

Well Great Start from Kolkata.Banglore is struggling with Bowling.
Nice Story.Awesome presentation.

An excellent start by us :clap i am not sure whether, we can reach 200 or not but i am pretty sure if we go like this, we can put a target of 175 + :)

Very nice presentation.

Banglore depends on its spinners and Kumble the 38 year old is suffering the effects in 20-20. I think Knight Riders will win easily. Banglore have no big hitters. Leaving out Kemp will hit you Shrav.

End of 20 overs

Gilchrist kept the momentum going for Kolkata as he bought up his first IPL half century off 30 balls, but just when Gilly look like going up another gear he missed timed a cover drive off Kallis and his South African teammate Gibbs held on to a difficult low catch. With Kolkata 2 wickets down they never looked like picking up the run rate with the only other big score came from Uthappa picking up 28 runs off 25 balls and was later run out trying to pinch a quick single with Steyn throwing in a belter to Kallis to remove the bails before the bat could cross the line. Ganguly was out in similar fashion but was only able to contribute 6 runs, with Katich also making 6 runs before he tride to cut Harbahjan Singh but the ball found the hands of Gibbs instead of the boundary. Bravo and Pollock finished off the innings with an unbeaten 35 run stand which only saw one 6 and one 4, all the other runs were all 1's,2's and 3's.

End of 10 overs

Bangalore have started there first 10 overs in similar fashion to that of Kolkata to be 3/89 off 10 overs with a further 84 runs for victory. Stephen Fleming was the pick of the batsman smashing his way to 36 runs off 25 balls which included one 6 and six 4's he really took the attack to Lee and Ntini with Ntini finally bowling Fleming out, Fleming tried to give himeself room but in the end gave himself to much and was bowled because of it. With that wicket Kolkata's bowling attack really lifted there game with Lee bowling Gibbs for 13 runs off 10 balls, Gibbs was outdone done by the extreme pace that Lee has started to show. Ntini then picked up the wicket of Dravid for six runs off three balls with Bret Lee hanging onto a tough catch at third man after Dravid got a top edge, and was unluck that it didn't carry over the rope for six. With the loss of 3 quick wickets it really started to slow Bangalore down with Jaques Kallis and Mahela Jaywardene just trying to pick up the quick singles off each and every ball, just when the first 10 overs were coming to a close it looked like Kolkata were sitting in a perfect position, but with two balls left in the 10th over Kallis showed why he is one of the best batsman in the world and smashed two 6's down the ground off the bowling of Tait. so at the end of 10 overs Bangalore need a further 84 runs at 8.4 an over.
