Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Dugout I believe. Not entirely sure about the precise timing but it was in the early part of the DD innings. Maybe it's my memory exaggerating it but I recall the criticism being quite fierce. Also name-dropped Jason Roy as a player who should've played more than Maxwell or said even a young Indian lad could've played instead of him.
I definitely agree with Clarke. Maxwell has underperformed!

RCB in danger, RR need AB desperately.

Time has come for RCB to get a new captain and coach. And, I'm not a fan of his captaincy one bit but may be, just may be it's time for AB to take up the role.

Just look at Kohli.. doesn't seem like he's too bothered about us being knocked out!

RCB's tournament is over! Left themselves too much to do in the end that even the Super Man ABD couldn't reach.

RR's win here plays right into Mumbai's hands. All Mumbai needs to do is, WIN! Also this means KKR is likely to make it to the playoffs even if they lose to SRH, as long as KKR can keep the margin of defeat minimal. Right now, it looks to me like KKR and MI will make the playoffs. For RR to make it, they will need MI to lose to DD which is possible but wont be the prediction.

KKR can go top 2. And if they lose badly, they might be out like you said.

KKR - you will be chasing today in an away game, against the best bowling side of the tournament who have blown away teams by defending really small totals! If you guys can still go on and achieve a quick chase to push your NRR above CSK, you guys will DESERVE THE NO. 2 SPOT and I will gladly give up supporting CSK for No. 2!

It will be a massive challenge for KKR to make No. 2, chasing against SRH in an away game and against their gun bowling attack. If KKR go on to do it, they deserve it. I know CSK have direct control over the No. 2 spot in their hands by winning tomorrow against KXIP. But if KKR can do this, I strongly think they deserve the No. 2 spot!

"Muhammed Siraj has a batting stance just like Inzamam-ul-Haq"
Sunil B̶a̶k̶w̶a̶s̶k̶a̶r̶ Gavaskar

Hope SRH get 180+ here. This seems a good batting wicket and KKR have done very well to keep it to just 161 with 11 balls to go.

Getting DK might be the key here. He's been too good when chasing and stands up and delivers for his team. Need a couple of wickets to be back in contention for winning the game.

KKR deserve due credit, pulled back SRH very well when 190 seemed to be on the cards. 172 was definitely not enough against a strong KKR batting lineup.

The way SRH started their innings, 172 was a great effort from KKR to keep SRH down. Manish Pandey helped his previous team in that effort.

KKR are through without needing to wait! Its now between MI and RR. All odds in favor of MI. Its an uphill task for KXIP. They first have to wait and pray that MI loses. Then once MI loses, KXIP will have to beat CSK massively (maybe 30+ runs or chase in 13th or 14th over; approximately, maybe even more) to get past RR's net run rate.

If MI win against DD, it knocks RR out and puts KXIP in an impossible spot for NRR battle, and makes the last match just about CSK ensuring that they don't lose big and keep their No. 2 spot.

Here are the numbers from Cricinfo

VernonVarun: "Somebody please put it on the plate now - what the hell does CSK have to ensure Top 2 finish?" -- CSK will have to lose by around 75 runs (chasing 180) to relinquish 2nd spot. So looks like KKR will stay 3rd. If they bat first, their opponents would need to chase a 160-odd score down in 11.4 overs. Phew, lots of number crunching

Will need every single CSK bowler to have a nightmarish game and for almost all the CSK batsmen to have a nightmarish game, for us to lose the No. 2 spot. I will be cautiously optimistic. KKR missed a trick today by not winning it early. Uthappa mentioned in the post match interview that he wants KXIP to do well so that KKR can go to Mumbai (for Qualifier 1) instead of Kolkata (for the Eliminator). I guess he and his team were not really focusing on the numbers needed to reduce gap with CSK. :D

Good to see you happy. At least now we're supporting the same team. Is it possible for superman to dawn the yellow of CSK and play for them? I think my heart would explode with happiness.

On a much more serious note- Getting a bit tired or rather I am done with going back dejected every major event. I don't see AB winning a trophy ever!

CSK is now on +0.220 and KKR is on -0.091. A good win (by 3-4 overs if chasing or by 20-25 runs if defending) by KKR tomorrow against SRH, will push KKR equal or above CSK. Then CSK will be playing in that last match for the Top 2 spot. And if luck doesn't favor them and they don't make the Top 2, their IPL will be over either in the Eliminator or in Qualifier 2 (depending on, in which game does luck desert them).

The way Dhoni talks about the Eliminator in the post match interview, maybe Dhoni is resigned to the fact that CSK won't make the Top 2 and will play the Eliminator match?
How to calculate NRR?
