I had followed Saini's progress in the lead up to the 2018 IPL and only a fool like Kohli could have bowled Corey Anderson in the death and not played a talent like Saini for even a game. Corey Anderson had not even bowled for a year!!
Washinton Sundar was consistently on the fringes of playing for India and breaking through. He now finds himself not even playing in an IPL franchise consistently. I think he's mentally strong, but his confidence has surely taken a knock. I mean, he didn't play today ffs.
Kohli not choosing to play Sundar despite the pitch being an absolute dustbowl was bad enough, and it looks even worse when you remember that it is Sundar's home ground. Also, him not giving CdG a single over to bowl was another strange decision, considering that his slower deliveries would have been more suitable for the pitch than someone like Saini. Also, I'm pretty sure that had it been RCB chasing in a similar situation, they wouldn't have been as patient as CSK batsmen were and would have potentially gotten themselves into a lot more trouble loosing early wickets, largely due to Kohli's 'intent' mantra. A shame that he leads the Indian side when we've got two better options.
