Indian Premier League - General Discussion

I mean it was great auction but why did RCB pick Isuru Udana? There were many better players than him![DOUBLEPOST=1576771392][/DOUBLEPOST]Also SRH picking Mitchell Marsh was not a good option.

Two overpriced buy of the night and unsurprisingly it came from RCB. They have given 4 cr to Kane Richardson and 10 cr to Chris Morris. They both are decent players but haven't been anything special to shell out the amount on them that they did. Isuru Udana is a very smart buy because he will provide that left arm variation, can be a decent hitter in the lower order as well. Finch and Steyn are decent buy because even though they both haven't done too well in IPL, their experiance might come in handy for RCB. However, I expected a bit more from them considering Hesson was at the helm.

DC was the smartest throughout the auction and even before the auction with their trades. All the players they have bought are good worth for the money. Plus they have added Ashwin and Rahane already to their squad so they are the team to look out for in next season. One suprising pick from them was going for Marcus Stoinis when someone like Colin de grandhomme was available. I think that's Ricky Ponting influence but that definately suprised me that no teams went for Colin.

CSK got a good pick in Josh Hazelwood. However, they spent too much money on Piyush Chawla. They have way too many spinners already in the squad and with Karn Sharma already there, it makes very little sense to go for Piyush Chawla. I think they have gone for Sam Curran as the back-up for Bravo. They have added a like for like player after they released David Willey.

Some really nice picks their. It was really interesting that RCB picked Josh Philippe. I know he is talented but are they sure he can play in Indian conditions? Very risky but cheap pick. Or are they looking for a young gun to bring the drinks during breaks.

Chris Green is a great buy. KKR look really good. What do you guys think about Cummins? I mean 15 crores is a lot and Pat is not an established T20 bowler. But I have huge expectations from him to prove me wrong and show that he is an all-format bowler.

He looked really good today the other day when I saw him play for sixers. His footwork against Agar and Ahmed was very impressive. However, as you said, batting against spin in Australia is very different to batting against spin in India. It will be interesting to see how he does if given a chance. He is most likely a back-up player since they have picked Finch as their opener and AB is going to bat in the middle order. I don't see how he will get many games.

Chris Green is a solid buy from KKR. He has done reasonably well in whatever T20 leagues that he has played in and now he has a chance to show that in IPL where pitches will be a little more helpful to his style of bowling.

Have to say this is a really good ad!

Top class stuff!

All the creativity comes out when the IPL is about to begin! :clap:yes

I cant wait for this season to start! Definitely among the last few seasons where MSD is gonna be on show and I want to soak it up as much as I can! From a CSK fan perspective, I am not sure how their future roadmap looks like, and maybe they're going down south after MSD's exit and so enjoy their game while its as good as it is right now (if I take their performance last year as the benchmark)

It doesn't matter how they perform because somehow they'll manage the Playoffs till the time MSD is there with CSK. Actually he is like the heart of CSK. If you take the heart of a human it can't survive such have been the case with MSD and CSK. And I am sure even if he stops playing he would contribute to CSK in some or the other way.

All set for a go at the Wankhede for the opener.. Just hoping for getting the tickets before being sold out. :D

Do share a pic or a video![DOUBLEPOST=1583736531][/DOUBLEPOST]If you get the ticket.

Don't want to be a spoilsport, but I believe that the IPL will most likely be postponed or even cancelled for this season. :(

Where is this coming from? And reason? Cancellation seems highly unlikely this close to start of tournament. Lots of $$$ at stake.

An educated guess from someone acquainted with the healthcare industry. ;)

In all likelihood, the most logical decision would be to postpone it, seeing how quickly the virus has spread in most countries with a history of inadequate testing.

I can't imagine they could realistically postpone it with the amount of cricket played, they'd probably lose a lot of the overseas players. Behind closed doors would be the one way around things (still bring in the TV money too) as has happened in Italy with the Serie A - although 1/4 of Italy is now quarantined off - so even that might not last.

Ah..the great CV. Yeh, postponing it might work but that could pose a problem of unavailability of players during the business end of the tournament.

But I would be highly surprised if it gets canceled.
