Best Playing XI for RCB

Just to show how far out of their depth RCB are- How hard could it have been to send a message to Sundar to bat through after Dube got out to just try get 40-50 with the tail? Just to minimise NRR damage!

Waiting for RCB's 13th game when they are desperate to qualify and this 100 run loss bites them in the rear![DOUBLEPOST=1600968683][/DOUBLEPOST]

I like the Udana and Sundar picks. But, Moeen Ali is there for the off spin variety and Udana is a bit one dimensional. I feel on these big grounds and Middle Eastern tracks, the pitch will turn. Zampa becomes a match winning wicket taking option!

Love the fact that Kumble's side has done this to RCB and on a day the man who moved oceans and mountains to displace him have about his worst day in his career.

Karma!

Udana and Sundar can bat also and will add depth in the batting.

A very poor performance from RCB as usual. I mean the worse it gets is less. Despite having the side they have been repeating the same mistake. As usual the blame will go to Kohli for the pathetic Captain he has been. But let me tell you something that mostly people didn't see so far in Kohli-The Captain. Actually speaking he is actually good but it's just that he is so intense and is wanting to win everything and when he loses the desperation starts taking over him. Trust me I have very closely followed this guy more than anyone else in the last decade. He does make up to be a good Captain but these blunders are all result of a psychology called extreme desperation. Like in wanting to win has affected him so much that his brain actually gets freezed in pressure situations. It happens with people and these people, they need right guidance, they are needed to be made feel the importance of others. With Kohli it is like the guy is so intense that no one can actually convince him but rather he himself or someone actually very close to him. He feels like he can do everything what he can perceive but realistically you just can't make things happen yourself. You need to back your players, you need to get their feedback and you need to guide them in areas that are necessary. And what Kohli does is he thinks that if anything is lagging behind it is him who would cover it up and he feels it is his responsibility alone and hence you see him not backing his players but come up with rather something stupid that he himself wouldn't have seen it coming. And this is why Kohli haven't been successful ever! It is only him who can realise it but now it is actually too much of time being taken. Harsh on him but he has to deliver now. It's just high time for him!!!!

Net Run Rate!! The buzz word ever since that CSK vs RR game!! Two games after that, you see big/significant losses and damaged NRR's. Essentially you leave it to luck hoping for a massive win, to erase the massive deficit that you accumulate. Getting massive wins later on is not easy as teams are well oiled and in rhythm and are completely turned on with their focus on playoff qualification or IPL final/title aim. By minimizing NRR damage early in the tournament, you are faced with the option of winning by small margins to get through and it will feel easier than being asked to win by a mountain in latter stages.

And it looks like teams being put into bat first have been winning here quite consistently. Except for the opening game (MI vs CSK), every other game has been won by the side that has batted first and also by the side that has been pushed to bat first by the side winning the toss. I think there are some teams out there who need to rethink their toss strategy. Teams which have weaker bowling but decent-strong batting should continue to chase if they win the toss (e.g. CSK, RR).

CSK's game tomorrow against DC. Looks like Rayudu might sit out this one too. Bravo is said to be getting ready but I would sit him out another game here as Curran is on a roll. Drop Vijay and get in an extra bowler in Shardul Thakur (handy with bat too), open with Ruturaj, play Rayudu if ready or continue with Jadhav, and bring in Tahir for Ngidi. Batting still looks fine as we can bat till 10 (Chahar, Chawla and Thakur are handy bats). Third spinner can be helpful in Dubai and against a team like DC.

Ruturaj
Watson
Faf
Rayudu/Jadhav
Dhoni
Curran
Jadeja
Thakur
Chawla
Chahar
Tahir

I will tell you what RCB will do next game. They will drop Phillipe. His season is probably done. Moeen Ali will come in. I think a desperate attempt will be made to make AB keep. God have mercy on this side if his back gives up doing so. Steyn will go out, Morris will come in. Siraj will come in for Umesh.

That Virat Kohli dismissal today was the 2015 WC semi-final all over again.

Moeen Ali not playing in Dubai. The purchase of Finch. Steyn as the lead bowler among overseas picks. Just unreal.

Definitely surprised at RCB not opting to go for Moeen Ali on this ground. Maybe a bit too similar to Sundar? Even though Moeen is a better batsman but Sundar is a better bowler. I don't think you can blame them for picking Finch since they made that pick keeping the Chinnaswamy stadium in mind. They also need someone in their leadership group and Finch is a decent addition to that. When they picked Steyn last year, the energy that he brought in the team was amazing and he bowled well till he got injured. However, this year is completely different. Of course, these grounds are not ideal for fast bowling but he just seems down and out. I don't like to use this word especially for someone who is arguably the bowler of this generation but he looks cooked. Obviously, he is not as quick as he once was but his new-ball bowling has always been top-notch. As I said, this year, he just doesn't look the same and age may be one of the reasons behind it.

For Kings 11, they have two really good new-ball bowlers in Cottrel and Shami. However, both of them struggle in death overs. I don't think Neesham is going to be your death bowler which is going to be a concern for them going forward if they stick with the same team. Even though Jordan struggled int he first game, he is still a death overs specialist. If Kings 11 decides to continue with this team, they will need to bowl really well in the powerplay and get some early wickets. If that doesn't happen, they will struggle in death overs. Pooran and Maxwell are impact players so I know the consistency aspect will be challenging with those two. However, they will need to at least support Rahul or Mayank rather than just throwing their wickets away.

Can I know why has the CSK attack looked toothless in back to back games despite having good bowlers?

Also what are the thoughts of CSK fans on the inclusion of Murali Vijay? To me he has looked very much off colour in this IPL and even the last season he was the same. One of my friend a huge Dhoni fan and a CSK fan since the inception of IPL decided not to watch the match today since Vijay has got another match this season. Does Vijay's inclusion make things look that bad?

@SaiSrini your thoughts on Vijay?

Edit:- Suddenly the bowlers have struck back. Good stumping from Dhoni. Quick as usual!!

I don't think there is a replacement for Vijay at the moment, the only thing possible is to play Santner instead of Hazlewood if CSK are worried about the batting depth or push everyone up and replace Vijay with Thakur. I would prefer the latter, at the moment it seems like we have batting till eight and we are playing too passively despite that.[DOUBLEPOST=1601047945][/DOUBLEPOST]For someone who was supposed to be a test match specialist, Curran is proving to be a lot more in value.

Sam Curran has been excellent for CSK!

Teams need to stop fearing CSK and start going after them. This team is far from the champions of two years ago and even the runners-up last year.
