Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Vijay should not be anywhere near the XI. The guy doesn't even seem to try and score and that just adds the extra pressure on Watson. I like the idea of Faf opening with Watson. I haven't seen Ruturaj at all and he seems more like an accumulator? Dhoni has to come up. CSK are winning the next 5 or so games after this week off.

that's 5 more sentences you said in a post, than your allowance limit of just 1 sentence per post.

Excited to see Nagarkoti in action today after years, hope the kid has a good match.

Manish Pandey needs to get a move on!

His lengths so far aren't pleasing. Going back to 2018 he was so much more accurate. But it is just his first over. Let us just wait for his spell to get over. I am hopeful he would do well.[DOUBLEPOST=1601132500][/DOUBLEPOST]
62% of SRH’s runs have been scored by Bairstow and Warner since 2019
While he has been finding ways to get out since the pandemic has got over. Or you could say since the Ashes itself last year. At times he is pleasing but on occasions he has been equally disappointing.

SRH ain’t gonna cross 150 today.

His pace also slightly looks down compared to where he was previously.[DOUBLEPOST=1601133334][/DOUBLEPOST]

I'm shocked that Saha was sent ahead of Garg when the latter is an accumulator who can score quicker once he is set. Saha should have been nothing more than a pinch hitter.

Saha should open while Bairstow comes down. Would give a hitter down the order, and will make the team look much stronger in my opinion

I can't really understand the approach from DK. He could've given more overs to Nagarkoti and Mavi just to give them bit of confidence early in the tournament. Now this isn't a score that would challenge KKR enough so why not try some different things? And Abu Dhabi isn't a venue where you wouldn't be able to chase 140 like Dubai.

I think we need to stop with Narine's opening experiment. DK and Gill should open, Rana to bat at 3 like he did today. If Kartik plays the role of a senior batsman, Gill can explode. Rana, Morgan, Russell all in the middle makes it solid for KKR.

Don't think it could be a wise move. Karthik in the middle order gives them a cushion of good experience down the order. You need to have a senior pro batting down the order. Yes there is Morgan but let us not forget the fact the he isn't an established IPL player just yet.

Morgan does not have to be an established IPL player when he is an established international cricketer captaining the side who just won a world cup. Moving DK to open will allow Morgan to come in early and do what he did today, took time to settle and than explode.

Also Gill played a really good innings today, real mature. Him along with Shaw, Iyer, Pant, Agarwal, Mavi, Nagarkoti are future of Indian cricket, they need to be groomed correctly.

For the next match, I would go with

Dinesh Kartick
Shubman Gill
Nitish Rana
Eoin Mortan
Rinku Singh
Andre Russell
Sunil Narine
Pat Cummins/Ferguson
Kuldeep
Mavi
Nagarkoti/Varun

Agree Morgan doesn't need to establish himself. But Narine used up, what, two balls? If he gets out, he gets out. If comes off he'll get some quick runs.
It's just a roll of the dice. Biggest problem would be if he goes in and uses up balls without scoring quickly.

Agree, he just used two balls, when on song he is dangerous, but a lot of teams have quality seam bowlers. Narine’s weakness is that, why wait for him to play that one match slowly and in return making sure KKR looses. Although kkr wont change anything and we will see how he performs.
