Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Cottrell getting smashed was completely unexpected but it was obvious that Maxwell would easily leak runs if he were to bowl an extra over to Samson and that started the downfall for Punjab. A small moment that is likely to be forgotten amidst all the madness witness tonight but it was key.

Tewatia almost spoiled it for RR... But one good over batting of him changed the complete game... And he scored 50+ too... He can now have good night sleep... :D:lol

This was an astonishing game!!! Yes, it was a game of the 'batsmen' but what spectacular stuff!!

I felt the moment when Sanju Samson refused a single even though the shot he played had almost 2 runs for the taking, probably turned Tewatia around. I guess he switched on BEAST MODE right then and there! What sensational hitting that was, and that too off a frontline bowler like Sheldon Cottrell. I know the ground is small and this is a batting beauty, but Tewatia is a total unknown and Cottrell is a known frontline bowler. To smash him out of the park for 5 sixes was jaw dropping stuff!!

Its early days, but if Tewatia keeps his head down and plays well, India might have found their spin allrounder to replace either one of KulCha in the Indian side. India's international T20 and ODI team has been struggling in the past few years for having a long tail which comprises of Kuldeep, Chahal, Shami and Bumrah. These four are undroppable for their bowling prowess, but their batting is totally tail worthy. Tewatia poses a very interesting twist to this equation if he can bat like this. He is a right arm leggie and the way he bowled against CSK in RR's first game shows that he is more of a bowling allrounder. Very interesting times for Indian cricket. This IPL is spoiling us (India) of choices - Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul, Sanju Samson, Rahul Tewatia, Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill. All these guys are playing high pressure cricket and honing their skills. IPL is definitely a boon for Indian cricket's supply line.

This is your 20000th post on the forums

Oh wow... I didn't notice that! How did you notice it?

Well, that makes me feel like a 'grandfather' in this forum now. :p:lol

Sending Tewatia is back firing. Uthappa had to come in at the fall of second wicket.

Hell retire him out at this point! That is better than what we're witnessing.

Tewatia FFS.

Holy fearsome tweak man. Just stand straight and try to hit it down the ground. You are not even getting the bat on the ball, what makes you think you can play a ramp shot.

If I was Samson I'd give him the strike and cause he could probably score five sixes in an over.

LOL someone is getting fired tonight for coming up with this Tewatia decision. This is turning into one of the worst decisions I have seen.

I am actually feeling bad for Tewatia here. He is actually trying but nothing is going in his favour.

Tewatia, please run yourself out for the collective benefit of your team.

If the management had any ounce of sense they would call him back and retire him out. I remember this being predicted to happen more frequently in the future in that T20 Revolution book and this is one ideal situation to do it. He is not prime Yuvraj Singh, he is Rahul Tewatia ffs.

The funny thing is, he doesn't seem good enough to hit the fielder let alone the boundary. :lol

If I was in the Punjab team, I would make sure Tewatia stays there till the last over.

I think tewatia is playing test cricket

Tewatia just get hit wicket fall over stumps atleast.

Even more frustrating that he's hogged the strike while Samson seems capable of hitting everything for six.

this shows how intolerant and critical we as an individual have become, wouldn't have been the case in last decade

this decade has messed up with the lives and thought process of millennials to be honest

I'd have backed Tewatia to hit five sixes in an over ten years ago, just like I did today. :spy

Meanwhile Samson has already done something similar to what Pooran did.
Amazing. The thought process to think/remember to do it, combined with the agility to pull it off is incredible.

It has nothing to do with millennial or things about decade ago. That was a painful innings to watch from Tewatia even Samson refused single up until the point decides to whack Cottrell out of the park for the 5 sixes in an over.

Credit to Tewatia for maintaining his composure despite the horror start he has not many infact hardly anyone would have turned it around except him.
