Indian Premier League - General Discussion

What a turn around this is from the orange army. Will be so proud of the cricket they have played. Williamson :clap:clap:clap! He is such a tremendous gentleman to have played this sport.

RCB now losing 5 in a row never deserved to be in top 4. Feel bad for Abd and RCB did bowl nicely.

Now DC please win the next game and Mumbai to lift the trophy :D.

2012 - 5th
2013 - 5th
2014 - 7th
2015 - 3rd
2016 - 2nd
2017 - 8th
2018 - 6th
2019 - 8th
2020 - 4th

9 years in the job full time. 3 qualified, mostly found competing to not get the wooden spoon.

How long will RCB persist with this captain? How long?

Williamson's approach was understandable given the low total and the lack of trust in SRH's middle order but on another day this could have been a close loss with him and Holder still at the crease and with questions being asked of them while two sloggers remained in the hut. If Finch and AbD can rotate strike in the first innings with an odd boundary off Rashid and Nadeem, Williamson surely could have done that with Garg, Pandey and Holder in the second innings with dew in there. May sound like nitpicking but Hyderabad played around 10 dot balls more than Bangalore ever did and if they are to beat Mumbai or a hopefully more competitive Delhi side, they need to look back at that middle overs phase and figure out why rotating the strike was such a struggle and why they did not run more aggressively for doubles.

Saha is the key for SRH to win this title... If he gets fit as soon as possible, then the opening partnership can flourish and SRH can go well.

Nothing against Goswami here but if you’re playing your first or second match in 7 months, I don’t want it to be a playoff...

You guys need to watch the cricinfo time out tonight!!!

Finally someone has had the balls to pull up Virat Kohli. Finally!! RESPECT Gautam Gambhir!!!

Honestly, Kohli's captaincy weakness showed when he took out Zampa and Chahal while they were both attacking with the ball, and gave two back-2-back overs for Moeen Ali and Sundar. Holder was new to the crease at that time when Zampa-Chahal were removed from the attack and Williamson had not yet found his feet. A better captain would've gone for the kill when your leggies are attacking with the ball and are looking to defend this below-par total. Ali and Sundar allowed Holder/Williamson to settle and from then on, it was a matter of time before they took SRH home.

SRH is looking more and more dangerous. In their respective current forms, I don't give a chance for Delhi to reach the final, but stranger things have happened and so.... LETS WAIT!! But a Hyderabad vs Mumbai final will be more exciting IMHO!

Gambhir has always been critical of Kohli at the very least as far as I know.

Delhi look like they're suffering from a mental block that seems to present itself more and more versus Mumbai. Hyderabad look like they know they have surpassed expectations by reaching this stage after suffering injuries and they seem to be playing with slightly lesser pressure for the most part if it makes sense? The kind of composure that Holder and Williamson showed today has been missing from most sides in the IPL and I think if they can add that extra gear to their middle overs batting with Pandey or Williamson more willing to be aggressive they will be very dangerous batsmen. Mumbai's strength in bowling is due to their bowlers upfront, they have to get eight overs out of Krunal, Pollard and Chahar which is where Hyderabad should be looking to target assuming they get there. Plan A is the best if Warner and one of Saha/Williamson/Pandey remain settled at the crease to take on those three but they need to look to be dominant in the absence of Warner too.

I have seen him defend Kohli very very aggressively in front of Tanveer Ahmed. Just sounds like someone is calling it like it is. At least someone had the kahunas to call out this BS.

Also, him saying things like they were unfortunate sounds so damn lame. SRH have had their gun bowler go out. Their opener who has won them two games recently go out. Their first all rounder they picked go out in the first game.

Look at how many people have been injured at DC.

Why was Finch played today for Phillipe?

I think 7/8 games or even 2/3 seasons things can go wrong. For 9 years this garbage show has been going on. He himself is an absolute waste @ 17.5 crores!!

Honestly, I feel you....... I REALLY FEEL YOU!!! RCB fans and ABD fans should sincerely pray to the cricketing gods for a captaincy change, if their fortunes are to turn in IPL.

It will never happen for AB! He will be 37 in February and the clock has been ticking since a while now. He will not ask to be relieved off his duties as he has built a bond with the franchise and there is no way RCB will let him go.

The franchise owners made it very clear that they see VK as captain.

It is our culture at the end of the day. In the 90's we would like to make some incredible human a god (Tendulkar) and then crib and even overthrow them and justify feeling cheated when miracles did not happen.

The fact simply was that the ten greatest captains of all time combined didn't have a hope of winning games of cricket with that Indian team. Sachin was actually a very sharp cricket mind.

Now, in today's day and age we have simply accepted that our god can do no wrong no matter what happens. At least Bangalore has.

My personal feeling is that this franchise is only interested in making profits and RCB believes in signing 2-3 superstars, selling merchandise and getting a lot of sponsorship from these superstars. In the process if they win a title, it's just a bonus. Their fan following is also unaffected every season so it's a cash printing machine.

When I see KKR, CSK fans say they need a mini revamp or revamp this is the reason it becomes gibberish for me. RCB need to first and foremost have a cricketing person run the cricketing side of things. Mike Hesson is the director of cricket but does he have the guts to sack Kohli and appoint a new captain like he did at NZ with Taylor and McCullum? Even Sourav Ganguly as BCCI chairman doesn't have the guts to do that for India's team. What is tragic is that I have gone from becoming an ardent Kohli fan to hoping every day of cricket I see that he retires. It's the only way to get rid of all this pain every single time in every big tournament.

In the early 2000's I would feel sad when India lost to Australia in big tournaments but I don't ever remember being frustrated. I never felt like we achieved lesser than what we could. Every day these days is like that little period in Indian cricket when Chappell was running his laboratory and a new cricketer would come out of every game as the new Frankenstein. If you're an RCB fan, even the IPL is not spared and I will not deny that after ten years it's become so bad that I have started wishing this misery upon other franchise supporters as it all seems so unfair!

Rant over.

EDIT- Oh and I knew today's result much in advance, so after work last night I had tried all I could to stock up on beers. Even that is unavailable here!! :lol
