Honestly, I feel you....... I REALLY FEEL YOU!!! RCB fans and ABD fans should sincerely pray to the cricketing gods for a captaincy change, if their fortunes are to turn in IPL.
It will never happen for AB! He will be 37 in February and the clock has been ticking since a while now. He will not ask to be relieved off his duties as he has built a bond with the franchise and there is no way RCB will let him go.
The franchise owners made it very clear that they see VK as captain.
It is our culture at the end of the day. In the 90's we would like to make some incredible human a god (Tendulkar) and then crib and even overthrow them and justify feeling cheated when miracles did not happen.
The fact simply was that the ten greatest captains of all time combined didn't have a hope of winning games of cricket with that Indian team. Sachin was actually a very sharp cricket mind.
Now, in today's day and age we have simply accepted that our god can do no wrong no matter what happens. At least Bangalore has.
My personal feeling is that this franchise is only interested in making profits and RCB believes in signing 2-3 superstars, selling merchandise and getting a lot of sponsorship from these superstars. In the process if they win a title, it's just a bonus. Their fan following is also unaffected every season so it's a cash printing machine.
When I see KKR, CSK fans say they need a mini revamp or revamp this is the reason it becomes gibberish for me. RCB need to first and foremost have a cricketing person run the cricketing side of things. Mike Hesson is the director of cricket but does he have the guts to sack Kohli and appoint a new captain like he did at NZ with Taylor and McCullum? Even Sourav Ganguly as BCCI chairman doesn't have the guts to do that for India's team. What is tragic is that I have gone from becoming an ardent Kohli fan to hoping every day of cricket I see that he retires. It's the only way to get rid of all this pain every single time in every big tournament.
In the early 2000's I would feel sad when India lost to Australia in big tournaments but I don't ever remember being frustrated. I never felt like we achieved lesser than what we could. Every day these days is like that little period in Indian cricket when Chappell was running his laboratory and a new cricketer would come out of every game as the new Frankenstein. If you're an RCB fan, even the IPL is not spared and I will not deny that after ten years it's become so bad that I have started wishing this misery upon other franchise supporters as it all seems so unfair!
Rant over.
EDIT- Oh and I knew today's result much in advance, so after work last night I had tried all I could to stock up on beers. Even that is unavailable here!!
