Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Laxman has to quarantine before he enters the "franchise bubble", which is a different bubble from that of the players. Remember there are 8 player bubbles, one each for the respective teams, then 4 other bubbles (one for all franchise officials including owners; one for match officials; one for commentators; one for media crew).

I think the 7 day quarantine for Laxman should tell if he got positive. And if yes, he endures a longer quarantine and more stricter tests.
Will he though?

He might get tested though for COVID.

Being in Mumbai in the Starsports Studio he might have already been in Bio-Bubble coming from Hyderabad to join the commentary Panel.

If he joins the franchise he has to go Chennai because SRH is supposed to playing there.

And four teams are in Mumbai Right now and 4 in Chennai.

Not sure how strict are the restriction when it comes to Bio Bubble.

Lets hope IPL doesn't get affected.

I believe the BCCI will ensure very strict adherence. They pulled off the 2020 IPL in worser times with just a few cases from the CSK camp that didn't spill over to any other teams.

I think those who were in close contact to Irfan would have put themselves (or asked to) into isolation.

This scenario is far worse in terms of India being confronted with a rapidly rising second wave and complete negligence and complacency from the powers in place and the public. It remains to be seen how it would be in the bubble but I'm not optimistic at all.

Same especially here in Mumbai where situation is getting worse by each passing day.

And in Mumbai we have 4 teams playing the first phase of the tournament.

So what happens between the Ind-Eng series bubble and the IPL bubble for Indian players? Did they get to go home ? Or it was a bubble to bubble transfer?

If that is the case then it is an issue for the players. I mean who can stay in a bubble for about 4 months?

"Have you heard of a temporary captain ever?"

Yes. Pant is the temporary captain of DC.
So as Kane Williamson in 2018 IPL & Steve Smith in 2017 IPL

It is a bubble to bubble transfer for most. Kohli decided to go home so he will have to go back into a quarantine mode. Also the players travelling from out of India, if they take a commercial flight, they need to be quarantined but if the players take a charter flight, they can join the bubble directly.

BIGGGG NEWS from SRH camp!! Jason Roy joins SRH.

What a bullshit signing. SRH has so many opening batsmen.... Should’ve gone for someone in the middle order.
And if you’re going for an opening batter, at least go for Alex Hales. He’s in the form of his life.

So far the clock is ticking down and every passing day that CSK goes without an injury or any player pulling out, I feel more happier... If we get through to the tournament without any pullouts or injuries, we actually have a pretty well rounded side to regain our history of making the playoffs.

From the photos and the videos coming through the official handle, the side looks happy and gelling really well under MS! And he also seems to be in pretty good spirits. Fingers crossed, hope he has dusted off the cobwebs and is oiled enough.

It's true, it's a pretty bad signing considering we have Saha, Goswami and Garg who can open the batting in addition to Kane and Bairstow. But the only reason Roy was signed was because the IPL rules only permit a replacement player to be picked from the same base price bracket as the outgoing player, and the only player left in 2 crores base price was Roy himself.

But.. it might be interesting to see whether the SRH management might want to try to slot Roy in for a few games. Remember Jonny Bairstow has also been pretty effective at No. 4 in T20Is for England. It's a bad idea IMO but Roy could slot in if the top six ends up being:

Warner
Roy
Pandey
Bairstow
Samad
Shankar/Jadhav/Garg/Abhishek

^That could be a top six that packed with power, but also a vulnerable top six. I think Kane is a must to bat at 4 just like last season to avoid potential batting collapses and a reliable accumulator in the middle as he's proven last season. I'd rather go with a lineup similar to this instead:

Warner
Bairstow
Pandey
Kane
Samad
Garg/Shankar/Jadhav
Abhishek
Rashid
Bhuvi
Nattu
Sandeep

This is an ideal lineup since SRH will be playing at Chennai on potentially slower surfaces for the first few games. I'd play Samad for all 14 games, he's showed glimpses of great power hitting in the limited opportunities he got last season and he should be batting at 5/6. Plus he'll give you a couple of overs of legspin alongside Rashid and Abhishek. I think Garg is an excellent fielder, he can definitely bat 5 and his fielding alone could make him a formidable option ahead of Shankar and Jadhav. But again Jadhav and Shankar the experience and can bowl a bit, so it's really dependent on the conditions and whether to play other overseas players. Jason Holder did a great job of replicating of Bhuvi's bowling role and playing handy knocks last season, but it's hard to find room for him when Bairstow is in red-hot form and Kane being the glue in the middle order.

I would have probably not made Pant the skipper and chosen Ashwin. I pray to god the job doesn't sterilise him like it did to KL.

I'm quite worried about this IPL. It really should have happened in Dubai. We are churning out record breaking case numbers again!

True. But if Garg plays then he should bat higher than Samad, considering he needs some time to set in, while Samad can just blast off.

Quinny is set to miss initial games as he'll have to quarantine after leaving on 4th as mentioned by CSA. I see a probability of two scenarios, put Kishan to open with Rohit and play Neesham at 6 or let the middle order be stable and play Lynn as an opener.

Rohit
Kishan/Lynn
SK Yadav
Kishan/Neesham at 6 and others move up)
Pollard
H Pandya
K Pandya
Coulter-Nile
R Chahar
Boult
Bumrah

@Parth D @NilayShah60 @Ohm your views? Chawla ahead of Chahar or Milne ahead of NCN anyone?
