Indian Premier League - General Discussion

I'll start with the RCB game-

I was very impressed with Kohli to trust in Siraj against Russell. Only wish he could trust in his other players more. Top stuff. I still think Harshal should have been the bowler to go to, but credit where credit is due.

Oh AB!! Oh South Africa. Let that man play white ball cricket please!! He doesn't want to play tests and he wants to choose where he plays. Which top India player doesn't? It's a travesty he needs to prove anything after all that he has done.

I still don't like the RCB composition and I feel things will change when tracks don't spin.

On to the Punjab game-

First, change the captain. He isn't sharp tactically and his batting changes drastically when he wears the armband. What was he saving Arshdeep for?

Ravi Bishnoi was one of the best spinners of the league last year and he isn't playing?

What on earth did their scouts see in those two Aussie quicks? What are you doing with Pooran? This is what Punjab need to do-

1) Drop Gayle. No, not because he's bad but because they need an all rounder desperately to make up the balance of the side.

2) Draft Henriques in and give him a run. He's that all rounder that can do both jobs for them.

3) If one of those two Aussie quicks must play then they must be used as new ball bowlers. Not a ball in the death. The worrisome thing is that they're travelling whenever they bowl but Punjab have made their bed. Jordan needs to replace one of them. They can have their pick.

This is the side I choose-

Rahul
Mayank
Pooran
Hooda
Sarfaraz/Mandeep
Henriques
Jordan
Richardson
Bishnoi
Shami
Arshdeep

Watched the batting of ABD and Maxwell earlier today and it was all fun to watch both innings

I know I'm biased but for 15 overs I was in awe of the innings Maxwell was playing. Once the innings was over, I didn't remember what he had done.

I care for what he did because he was a big part of the team getting to 200 but I won't remember it. It was overshadowed by pure genius.

I personally think WADA really needs to test that bloke. After that checks out negative, they should come up with some kind of supernatural DNA test on that chap.

I don't know.. may be he is Clark Kent or Bruce Wayne or Tony Stark.. I don't know.

He just enjoys working hard. We might not know what he must be doing behind the scenes.

3rd consecutive failure for Ruturaj! He's already been testing patience of the fans of CSK, and next game the sound is going to get way louder on the calls to drop him for Uthappa or Jagadeesan. Ruturaj was in mediocre form in the SMAT tournament and though he had a slightly better Vijay Hazare, it was no great shakes. Clearly he seems a misfit when the requirement is to score at a pretty fast clip. He clicked in the fag end of last year when CSK was out of contention and when the totals were not big enough for him to go harder and his S/R suited such games.

Faf looked way better today and seemed like that last game helped him get his rhythm going.

For the first time I've seen you a little impatient. Maybe he is just a little out of form? He very much gives me Murali Vijay pre-2013 vibes. He is more like stroke player who could find a way to score quicker which Vijay was in his early years with the CSK.

The shot Rayudu got out would have been a six had he been batting in the powerplay. CSK has to use him or Robin instead of Rituraj (wasted 13 balls) as pointed by @SaiSrini . Infact in 2018 also, Rayudu scored most of the runs as opener but had to make way for Faf.

Game is slipping away in this phase. Really don't get this composition of the side. Sam Curran who's your most dynamic player is being wasted.

10-15 runs short CSK. Could have scored 200. Will be an interesting chase.

As I mentioned before, unlucky for Rajasthan that Sanju Samson scored a century in the opening game. He is going to flat line now and will continue having his usual mediocre season now.
