Frankly, the result of IPL 2021 has already stopped mattering.. Public will lose interest in a tournament that is abruptly stopped mid way and then restarted. The teams with the most England players (RR, CSK) will not care because for RR, they are already in the deepest of pits despite having Butler in the first half of their tournament. And CSK - well even if they care about getting into the playoffs of a tournament ravaged by COVID, they have backup options for Moeen (Gowtham) and Curran (Bravo) and probably might try to ring in replacement from other countries. But I have a feeling that CSK will also stop caring about the result and start focusing on 2022 already. For us (CSK), 2021 season is already a huge success considering where we were at the end of 2021.

Coudnt agree more. I think they should forget this and move on to planning the 2022 tournament, hoping things are a bit back to normal by then.

A bigger problem for the board being the issue of the mega-auction which was originally proposed at the end of the last edition. However due to time constraints, they couldn't go forth with the plan. There is also some speculation of a 10-team IPL for 2022. I wonder how all these elements would come together if the BCCI is hell-bent upon creating another window for IPL 2021.

Apparently, some overzealous analyst (RCB fan in disguise!) did some funky computer modeling to predict the results of the remaining games of IPL 2021 and called for RCB to win the IPL 2021 title per his predictive modeling.

Its funny that Google caught onto it and calls RCB as the winner of the tournament
