Indian Premier League - General Discussion

It is a IPL short career and split by five years because of injury or not getting picked.

Overall compared with players who have bowled the same number as balls (167):

His economy rate is higher than average, but only six (Holder, Ngidi, Harshal, Pawan Negi, Woakes, Rabada) have a better strike rate.

Overs 17-20 his economy rate is better than Harshal Patel, Mustafiz, Rabada, Bhuvi, Malinga, Ferguson, Ngidi, Dwayne Bravo, Natarajan, Shami, Boult and a load of others. He rates in the top third (24th/75) bowlers (42 balls or more). Likewise his strike rate is 25/75 players.

He also has the best strike in the powerplay of any bowler and below average economy rate.

The worst thing he's probably done this season was get Andre Russell's wicket, because Pat Cummins then made Dindafied all the bowlers.
Alright! I get it. He is good "English" bowler :p

More interested in knowing his skill set than numbers. I want to know what special variations he can bowl. If speed variation is his only strength then he would be found wanting pretty soon.

Surely skill set is irrelevant if the numbers are rubbish? See Tom Curran, Jade Dernbach.

Mills; he basically bowls fast and slow with the most common speed being 90mph. This is only a small set of data over the last 12 months.

Why are you taking negatively? I asked you because I wanted to know more about him.

Trust me I expected MI to go back to him just before the toss happened.

Poor delivery to start off things!

Well that looked to be a decent follow up and later he bowls another loose one does Thampi.

Short and wide is a clear no to Mayank Agarwal. :noway

Undakat with the new ball doesn't look pleasing. He isn't a new ball bowler. I don't understand the Captains giving him the new ball. Also Bumrah should be bowling upfront. Things like these are exactly the reason why MI are struggling.

@Velocity you seem to know too many things about someone to post an Haha reaction? Just learn to draw a line!

If you are not being called for doing something that doesn't go down well with someone doesn't mean they couldn't point out to you.

I am not out there posting my views to give people an opportunity to get on to unnecessary trolling. There can be difference of opinion which must be respected. Atleast if you couldn't respect then you don't go out there disrespecting people!

But then again there's the typical thing of when players that do well in BBL or the other domestic leagues end up faltering in the IPL/PSL which almost deems those statistics as irrelevant because it seems like the bridge between the IPL and the other T20 leagues is huge.

Although I do agree it's a really small sample size to be questioning Mills' place in the MI side just yet.

So a reaction is somehow trolling? Need to calm down there my friend. You seem to be taking things way too personally on this thread particularly. If people have a difference of opinion, it doesn't mean that they are incessantly trolling you or putting you down. Don't make a big deal out of something so insignificant.

The one thing I have noticed in these domestic T20 leagues - quite often an overseas player is bought for the sake of having an overseas player in the XI/squad. A bunch of them couldn't break in to their own countries XI and yet are paid so much to get smashed around the ground.

Examples: Daniel Sams for RCB (I see no real metric for his selection), Tymall Mills (i think you guys were talking about him earlier but I haven't got around to reading that yet).

Something at times may not become an insignificant matter for the other person just because you consider it as insignificant.

I don't disagree that few of my posts sounded controversial in the past or I went too far ahead to prove my point. But you probably learn with age and experience and I feel I've come a long way. I am on public forum and I've got an equal right to put forward my POV and try to be myself.

That's your problem. You interpreted a reaction to a post negatively despite no words said from my end. Cannot do anything to help you there.

Be yourself. There is not one person on this thread that hasnt told you to be someone else, you've interpreted it that way. And that doesn't give you the license to accuse other people of disrespect or trolling.

IPL is definitely a bit step up for players but he did well, before injury, in the World T20.

I think there's also when and how teams use players. I'd see Mills as a death bowler, I'd want at least 2 left from him at the in the last four overs. Just woke up and see he's already bowled 3.
