Indian Premier League - General Discussion

So KKR have dropped both of their retained Indian domestic players. Their other retainees are both ticking time bombs in terms of being banned/injured.

You couldn't make this up.

At least they've got the smart sense to not play Cummins despite spending a whole load on him.

The retentions made no sense for KKR and I have voiced my outrage. Rana, Varun, Gill and Russel should have been retained. Gill was supposd to be our future. Narine, Iyer made 0 sense for retainment.

The thing with retention is the players have a choice too you know.

This is the Kohli I wanna see bat!

Hope that dismissal isn't coming soon any soon now!! :spying:

Absolutely, they definitely should have a choice. May be Gill declined but you the retentions KKR did made very little sense.

Poor poor decision to bowl first on this wicket. The trend has overwhelmingly been for teams to defend totals for a very long period of time in this IPL (after the anti-dew spray came into the tournament). And Ravindra Jadeja is one bloody mess with that decision to make him captain!

CSK's template of "bat steady in Powerplay; explode in middle overs" did not work today as this pitch had way more help for spinners and Ruturaj's wicket showed it! Normally thats the time when Ruturaj goes hammer tongs, and today he gave a meek catch! Did they really play according to conditions, or they just backed their template irrespective of conditions? Backing themselves to chase down anything is a lottery when conditions dont favor it. I also wondered why Dhoni bowled 5 overs of Mukesh and Simarjeet on the trot in the PP. Had he bowled Theekshana and Moeen early on, could've applied better brakes. I felt today's defeat was mostly down to Dhoni's moves
