Indian Premier League - General Discussion

IPL owners really need to stop looking at fake successes of players playing in other league. Most of them play mediocre lineups on a flat roads.
I mean if you could suggest an alternative source of judging overseas players' potential I might be able to see where you're coming from.

Shami destroyed DC top order...
They recovered brilliantly. I think we are in for another low scoring match like yesterday since the ball is stopping a bit on the pitch and GT has a bunch of complusive sloggers barring Gill and maybe Hardik if we can continue to pause his natural instincts.

How were they scouting before the plethora of leagues?

Also this long boring snoozefest of IPL has to stop. I cannot believe that people even have had time to watch this for 32 tweaking days with 28 freaking days still remaining. Boring team combinations, boring players, long ass matches and long ass tournament, sums up cricket perfectly these days.

Really? I have a differing perspective on your 2nd para. I have found this IPL to be very entertaining. This is probably one of the rare IPL's where I have had the interest to follow non-CSK games. Many games have been tight and the return to home-away format added to the interest. Also the dependency on toss for results have been reduced dramatically. I know some fans are 50:50 on the Impact Player but I have found it interesting when teams other than CSK have used it differently (annoyed that CSK does their usual sameness strategy even in the use of Impact Player rule).

TBH, I really enjoyed watching IPL after years.

It was all getting boring in last few years due to covid and being played at same venue for the majority of the tournament.

But this time around the tournament vibe is back maybe due to different venues like before and more close game then ever.

In your case maybe different time zone is putting you off but believe me this is coming from a guy who skipped the entire IPL last time around.

Told y'all! Match is on. Only Tewatia can bat properly and Rashid can swing a few. 74 from 51 is still possible but Hardik will have to take it deep a la Dhoni style that he is trying to emulate.

Also, it will test the temperament of Sadargani and Tewatia to go against their aggressive instincts for the team.

@SaiSrini - Would it be fair to assume that your love for IPL and it being entertaining is because you only follow IPL/T20 cricket in general?

@Bigby Wolf - Fair point! Maybe different time zone, KKR playing like shit and something which I am not able to pinpoint is putting me off!

I still feel 2 months for this tournament which has atleast 1 match a day is overkill. Somehow it has to be 30-40 days max including playoffs!

GT have left far too much for themselves to chase with the likes of Nortje still having an over in the tank - something that they (GT) missed the trick of saving one hour of Shami. Despite Little bowling well in the last match, I still cannot fathom how he is able to keep Joseph out except for the fact that he is a left armer.

The obsession of Hardik to take it till the end...... :facepalm:facepalm

And that's why I hated Dhoni's tactics to take each game deep unnecessarily and Hardik is going the same way but to be fair this was indeed a tough game. Amazing comeback from Delhi. Just brilliant.

I just hope that Hardik stops his antics of becoming the next tuk tuk Dhoni and instead remains the aggressive batsman that he is like the young Dhoni. Add to it that Hardik doesn't have the brilliant know-how of the game unlike Dhoni, he is a recipe for disaster. It's Tewatia who got the game close otherwise GT were a gone case in 17th over itself. Hardik, you are not Dhoni, not Bevan, not Martyn. You are Hardik and better play like one.
