Indian Premier League - General Discussion

If going by last night's antics- if this really is MSD's last IPL, I think we needn't bother about who the Final 4 would be. I guess, we know the winner already. Titans/ Indians will no doubt contest the final with CSK.

What antics? It was their final league game at home (Chepauk) and they just went on a "Thanksgiving" lap of honour to the home fans. Almost all teams do it. They know the Qualifier/Eliminators are in Chepauk and could've avoided doing this but they know that they have not secured qualification yet and so they did it yday in case they don't qualify.

How do you send Tewatia ahead of Shanaka? :facepalm

What the hell, why did Phillips get dropped again?

Bhuvi was by far the best bowler for SRH today. Shades of him from all those years back when Gayle muscled his way to 175 while Bhuvi seemed unaffected in the match.

GT batting falling like nine pins again after a shwashbuckling start from Superb Shubhman. Definitely not a good sign particularly when qualifiers are just round the corner.

Ok with IPL almost over with group stages, who would you vote to be the most boring side of this IPL?

My vote goes to DC first and SRH second.

Shubhman Gilll scored 29 runs of his last 25 deliveries clearly indicates he was playing for the milestone.

At 139 for 1 in 13 overs the least GT should have scored was 200 from that position.

Gill rotating the strike frequently and putting new batters on strike after the dismissal of Sudarshan and others losing their wickets led to a score of only 188 in 20 overs.

Despite all that SRH being SRH.

I am sorry, but is there a justification here? Lap of honour isn't required! Please point out any other team that has done so in the last few years. In the history of the IPl, there have hardly been such laps of honour after the last league game.

Teams have done so upon winning. But, this antic surely points towards the exit of MSD.

Teams pre covid used to do that especially CSK and MI previously.

So don't think its Dhoni specific or any antic here.

This. :cheers

@icyman - Teams have always done Thanksgiving events / lap of honour / etc kinda things at the end of their final home league game of the season, as a way to thank the home fans. This season is the first time they have reverted back to the "home and away" format since COVID, so they are returning back to that practice.

I turned off, I couldn't believe when I turned back on and SRH were only chasing 180ish. GT were like 140/1 after 13 overs.

It wasn’t just the numbers, watching him bat made it blatantly obvious that he was playing for the century. He was barely trying to go aerial once he got into the 90s. Given his rotten luck with centuries so far I suspect he wanted one. :D

As long as he continues being an effective test and ODI player I don’t mind him statpadding in the IPL. Keep him away from the T20I side if this is to be his future mindset though.

They shot themselves in the foot by holding Shanaka behind Tewatia too. Proper mad stuff all around.

Chris Jordan overrated piece of shit.

Everytime I see him bowl he gets worser day by day at death bowling.

Have been saying this since 2018.
