Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Looking at all these trades/buys reminds me of the story that Dhoni said back around 2011.

Murali was part of the CSK squad then, and the commentators asked why he wasn't consistently breaking into the XI with someone of his calibre.

Dhoni mentioned that there is a best XI and an ideal XI - and you can't just fit XI of the world's best players in the XI. It is best to have an XI that complements itself and is well-rounded for the game.

A lot of teams right now seem to want to add more and more players without always considering the balance of the XI that works best for them. (e.g. DC has Jhye Richardson, who I don't think is a good fit for the small flat track at the Feroz Shah Kotla - maybe a domestic player who has experience might have been a cheaper and a better option).

True. Zampa is one of the best spinners in world, but Burger might have better chance of starting cause of RR's strong Indian spin attack

He should take a look at r/RCB

Ntini & Ashwin played together for CSK, Ntini is trying to sing the song in modulation of a Tamil Comedian, this guy Ashwin has so much influence on other guys in terms of Tamil, he told in a interview Shami understands tamil and to this now, Ash Anna is in different level.

Do we know when they are announcing the fixtures?

Hopefully by this month. The center election dates is likely what is causing the delay in the announcement of the fixtures.

I am going to India on Feb 28th, I have to travel to Chennai for Visa and was hoping to catch a match there and see number 7 one last time on the field.

I once met a family friend while travelling to my native town. He used to play U-19 cricket in Mumbai. Told that he has played with Shivam Dubey during the time.

What he told next just blew my mind. He told that Shivam Dubey was a crap player in the team. His father is a big shot tycoon. And a lot, lot, loads of stash was paid in order to put him in the Indian squad. It was due to his father's deep pockets that he was selected at every level, all the way upto the international side.

Shivam Dubey getting selected in the Indian National squad is the proof that cricket in India is a sell out sport.
I am not surprised. One of my neighbours got his son selected in the net bowling for an IPL team and another one for the auctions. Money works!
