I think Dhawan will atleast play till 2020 WT20

I think these are the players who would retire before 2023 WC (from all formats)

Shikhar Dhawan
Rohit Sharma
Kedar Jadhav
Virat Kohli (not too sure though)
Mohammed Shami
Ravi Ashwin
Ishant Sharma
Umesh Yadav

Maybe our future line-up could look like

Prithvi Shaw (C)
KL Rahul
Shubman Gill
Mayank Agarwal
Nitish Rana
Rishabh Pant (Wk)
Hardik Pandya
Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Kuldeep Yadav
Yuzvendra Chahal
Jasprit Bumrah
LOL

Kohli ain't going anywhere till 2027 and 2023 is still early for the rest of these guys to retire eventually these guys may play just one format and may end struggling to find a place in the squad as time varies.

I think all this form worry is unfounded, because this is IPL. The dynamics totally change in this format. Rohit, Dhawan, Virat will get atleast 2-3 overs extra to get set for big scores in ODIs. Similarly the bowlers get a bigger buffer to find their rhythm and wont be getting attacked throughout the innings.

The major worry for us during the World Cup will be our middle order and not the form of our top order and bowlers. The other thing will be burnout and injuries

I heard it somewhere that he is there only for next 6-7 yrs from now on back in 2017[DOUBLEPOST=1554807211][/DOUBLEPOST]
@NilayShah60 add Dhoni to the list. He is a certainty.

Dhoni would probably retire once WC gets over so that is why I didn't feel the need to include his name

To be frank I am really very frustrated with this isse of middle-order. Every time we felt that there is a stable player found either he is being dropped or he himself gives away all the hard-work. This issue has kept going and going and going since we visited Bangladesh back in 2015 where we lost a series for the first time against Bangladesh. This issue has kept getting bigger and has actually hurted us in the last 20 months or so. Why can't we have it Man !!!!!!!!!!!! :mad:mad

Rahane would have been the perfect man. But now, even if he hits prime, he can't!

I was referring more to him bowling the easy overs. In the game against Kolkata, he was desperate to be done before Russell came.

I get that you hate Ashwin, but this seems quite unfair. Ashwin bowled two overs in the powerplay versus MI for eg, against their captain and a De Kock in red hot form. Ashwin isn't a death bowler, and expecting him to bowl against Russell is strange, when they've got better death bowlers. He's been the best bowler for Punjab this year. I don't think bowling in the middle overs is easy, given that he'd usually be up against one or two settled batsmen. And, he usually does bowl a over in powerplay.[DOUBLEPOST=1554822388][/DOUBLEPOST]

I don't think having someone's who barely clinging to his spot in his strongest format purely on the basis of reputation deserves to be in the ODI team.

True that. If anything, the ordinary form in the IPL will spur the likes of Kohli, Rohit, Dhawan to up their game in the World Cup. The top order is well settled and no bad form in IPL will cause a flutter there.

I have a feeling that Kohli is going to enter the WC very hungry after what he's going through at RCB. As a batsman, he is likely to be pretty pumped up.

Seeing Russel leave/defend 6 balls in a row is a sight to behold.

Just posted about Kamlesh Nagarkoti a couple of days ago and now I see this wonderful article on him. Really good read on how lonely it can be for a young man like him to stay away from his family and deal with setbacks like he has had so far with injury. It was heartbreaking when I read the line where he said he doesn't remember his action anymore. I know he said that jokingly but still it is painful to read that. Hopefully he pushes through this and comes out even better bowler than what he was. It is good that KKR and BCCI are taking care of him.

Seeing Yesterday's match it seems KKR are too much dependent on Andre Russell and if he doesn't score those crucial quick runs then they are out of it.

Now I am able to see each team's weakness this season except CSK

1) KKR are too much dependent on Russell
2) SRH are too much dependent on their opening pair and their bowling
3) MI struggles to score runs in middle overs
4) KXIP doesn't do well in death overs while bowling
5) DD are getting used to late collapses in their batting
6) RR aren't able to score more than par score on a particular pitch and ground
7) RCB aren't showing any intent in their batting due to which the pressure shifts towards their young bowlers

While what's different is CSK has some or the other guy to always handle the pressure

Again I believe that CSK, MI, KXIP and DD can be the teams this time. Maybe either of SRH or KKR can somehow manage to reach the top 4. RR just like RCB looks out of it now !!!!

I also have a feeling that CSK would somehow choke at the last moment just because of their traditional approach towards the game as this format is such that you just can't do without innovation and out of the box thinking

The irony of this IPL so far is :

Piyush Chawla has taken blinding catches ( Almost every match he has his name ) , while the famous ones have dropped !!

I think Navdeep Saini's catch this season is one of the stand-outs among others. Still 37 matches left though so it's too early to say
