Indian Premier League - General Discussion

I was on the moon when were in the top 2 not that long ago. Disheartening to see us slowly drop out of the playoffs spot. To be fair though, I think SRH has exceeded expectations. Given the way the auctions went, I wouldn't have anticipated more than 1 or 2 wins.

I've a feeling MI will win today. Rohit to be among runs.

Mumbai make two changes to their squad just like that, post getting knocked out of the season? Kumar Kartikeya and now Tristan Stubbs? It looks like they're trying to make use of the loophole that allows them to retain the player who comes in as an injury replacement. This means next year, Mills will be released into auction and Stubbs will be retained.

The reason I say this is, Stubbs is a big hitting batsman in the Pollard/David mould, while Mills is a specialist bowler. The timing of this replacement (after their season is practically over) is dodgy. Similar thing with Kartikeya where a wrist spinner replaces a left arm medium fast bowler.

Just bring in another semer for Allen, an Indian bowler/keeper and done, squad is ready for the next season, I feel it's gonna be Pollard's last season, Stokes/Curran to be his long term replacement imo.

Rohit
Ishan
Surya
Tilak
Brevis/some random youngster
David
Sams/Stokes/Curran
Archer
Shokeen/any other spinner bought in the mini auction
Kartikeya/Meredith
Bumrah

You guys are literally going to lord over everyone next season! :D Already picking up promising youngsters through injury loopholes and next auction you'll go all out on Stokes or Curran.

Game changer from Pollard there, fantastic innings! You die as a hero or become a villain like Pollard.

KP on commentary "You can’t be done by the slower ball. When you’re batting, subconsciously you know the pace, you know the wicket, you can see the field, just don’t be done by the slower ball"
Makes perfect sense :rolleyes

I've said this before. Shami in death overs should be a big no. He should be done by the 15th over. Goes for plenty more often than not.

The dismissal of Pollard was top notch. You could see it coming from a mile away.

I've a feeling MI will win today. Rohit to be among runs.
One prediction came true. Now onto the next one.

So... Pollard likely to be released next season? Maybe CSK should find a way to give Pollard some runs and confuse the MI management :lol

Mi should have Kicked Pollard out from Playing Xi in today's Match

Given that Pollard doesn't seem to be bowling much why not play David and Brevis? If you need to try and get a couple of extra overs they can always try and steal one or two.

Thought I'd share, there was some good discussion about the IPL about 1 hour in of this week's Wisden podcast.

David is a handy bowler.
Also, Multan used him at 3-4 in the PSL a lot, he was monstrously good, struck at 180+
I reckon that was probably cause Rizwan and Masood could provide a solid opening stand. I'd imagine he's still coming in the last third of the innings.

I'm still amazed Mumbai binned him after two matches. :lol Ben Jones from Cricviz mentions that, by their metrics, he's been the best T20 batter over the last 12 months but IPL teams often lack the patience to back players.
