Don’t know what’s more embarrassing from today’s game; Gauti acting like an immature prat despite being a senior figure and a politician, Kohli and Siraj sledging a twenty-three year old Afghani pacer, LSG making Rahul bat needlessly and risking an injury aggravation with their season still to finish, an important test next month in a WC year or Manjrekar calling the home team ‘Lucknow Super Joints’.

They made him bat? I'm sure he was trying to do the best thing for the team but really the team management shouldn't let him, the injury looked bad enough.

Making him bat when you have the luxury of using an impact sub is utterly stupid. The bloke could barely walk let alone run.
 
For the first time I have seen some leadership in KL. He's still a tactical sham but he was probably the most sensible bloke going around at the end of that game.

Honestly, I love the passion and emotion in VK and everything was fine but his bullying of the umpires is just ridiculous. No wonder every decision is reviewed because the umpires just have no power. Forget power, they seem petrified.

Gambhir has done a lot for Indian cricket and he is the right man for a lot of situations but he should be nowhere near a coaching staff. He's retired, he's a mentor and for the whole world to be talking about him from the LSG team after a shambles of a batting performance and a KO punch to India's WK batter in the WC and their team's captain and marquee player just shows how bad that performance was and how this has taken over the real talking points.

If this happened in the days I grew up watching cricket, Kohli, Naveen Ul Haq and Gambhir would've copped financial penalties and the two players would have had bans handed to them.

When was the last time an Indian player was banned for poor on field behaviour?
 
Watched all the media clips on Twitter about the whole "Kohli vs Gambhir" saga that unfolded today. It looked so childish and to the point where it felt very clear that they are doing this for TRP's. Guess they were trying desperately to reignite the famous "IPL spat" that happened between them 10 years back. Gambhir knows that and that's why he shushed to the crowd at Chinnaswamy, and Kohli today went all aggro (constantly making gestures at the crowd, the thing with Naveen Ul Haq, the walk-in with Gambhir, etc.).

Guess getting the captaincy back at RCB seems to have brought that 'old overt aggro side of Kohli'. Was really liking his recent mellowed and subdued aggression.

When you have the option of using a sub, you should employ it fully. Didnt understand why he had to bat under those circumstances. He wasnt even swinging to get the win.

Dont understand what you are talking about regards to KLR. As a captain, he should be able to put his foot down and demand the sub he wants. He seems mature enough that he would understand his participation in the WTC and CWC will be dependent upon his fitness. If he is that dumb, perhaps he isnt the right person.

As for Gambhir coaching/mentoring, I dont see any harm. I also dont like the fact that you seem to be single handedly pointing him out for LSG's failures. In reality, questions ought to be fired at Andy Flower, which no one seems to be doing. Gambhir being seen as an easy target?

If you are referring to international cricket, yes! Domestic cricket/ IPL has never seen bans handed out to players.

KL did not aggravate anything. It is also important to understand that this was a T20 and a moving goalpost. No way anyone could understand how severe the injury was. Perhaps he felt that him at 30-40% was better than most other options. If you've played cricket at any level there is also a lot of pride involved. It's very hard for a sportsman to say 'right, I'm toast, I can't make my team win.' I have been on both ends of the stick, once where I shouldn't have taken the field and ended up costing my team but on the other occasion pulling out a win. Believe me, it is very very hard. And the reason I say that he behaved like a leader was because in all that nonsense that happened post match, he kept his head and tried to resolve things with a cool head although he should've been on the first car out to the hospital.

As for GG, I am not blaming him for jack. What happened at Chinnaswamy with him and Avesh basically detonated the VK bomb and I knew it would be fireworks. When something like this happens, one person cannot be scapegoated. BUT the other parties are on the field, the adrenaline is pumping but he is not. He made a mini show out of himself and he isn't even playing. It just is all a bit unbecoming of a former India captain. I repeat, it does not vindicate Kohli's behaviour towards the umps. But, I totally support his antics after taking catches and having a go at the LSG cricketers. The game needs characters and as a RCB fan, he rightfully dished back the Chinnaswamy garbage hurled at them. There is no need to take pot shots at the crowd at the Chinnaswamy like the LSG players did. Those fans make the sport.

Lastly, you answered my question yourself. It takes Harbhajan Singh to slap Sreesanth to have any action taken. Kohli has been having his way with the umps for far too long. Give him a ban, he will fall in line. Look at the number of reviews being taken. There are 8 reviews for teams in a game and the umpire reviews everything themselves. The product/quality of the tournament is clearly suffering. Just to ensure you don't feel I am being biased- MSD should have himself been given a ban for walking out on the field in the last over to quarrel with the umps in a game against RR a few years ago. Umps these days, specially when India is involved are in a slaughter house. They can only do wrong. No right.
 
IPL owners really need to stop looking at fake successes of players playing in other league. Most of them play mediocre lineups on a flat roads. Gone are the days when exciting talents participated in IPL. Now only mediocre players from other league come in.

Also this long boring snoozefest of IPL has to stop. I cannot believe that people even have had time to watch this for 32 tweaking days with 28 freaking days still remaining. Boring team combinations, boring players, long ass matches and long ass tournament, sums up cricket perfectly these days.
