I just heard news, Akhtar not playing on 8th for sure and maybe on 11th too :(

Hell no I was watching Sahara sports news just before 1 hour and they were saying Akhtar is all set to do his Debut in IPL??

hyderabad take on chennai tomoro, laxman need to drop himself down the order for hyd to have any chance.

Right so.
Laxman would suppress the start Deccan needs no matter they are chasing or batting first.
His Batting would build more pressure on Gilly or whoever on opposite end and accordingly it will cost them a wicket.

Chennai also has lost last Match so they also would try to give everything.
I am hoping for very tight contest.

Yeah, expect Afridi to hole out third ball after heaving away a couple of boundaries. Or maybe even a rare innings where he manages to survive more than 30 balls.

Ravi Teja opening >>>>>> Afridi.

Are you kidding? Laxman has done a fine job opening the innings for his team.

Code:
6 6 1 155 52 31.00 132 117.42 0 1 1 22

He's the fourth highest run getter for the Chargers, has a strike rate of 117 which is fantastic for someone who isn't a slogger.

He's played well, there is really no need to drop him down the order, and he won't.
Gilchrist needs a solid person to open with. Both Afridi and Gilchrist are hit and miss, with them opening together DC have a huge chance of a bad start.

Many of the them here are just made to hate people like Dravid and Laxman however well they play.As Cricketman said considering they are not sloggers they are playing really well.I want Gibbs to open today with Gilchrist and Laxman and Sharma to come next.Deccan chargers should win easily today.

When the bowlers start getting better and figuring out the ideal lines and lengths to bowl, it will be the Dravids, Tendulkars and Laxmans who will be feasting. I believe it was Andrew Nixon who suggested that the people with the best Twenty20 records are the most orthodox batsmen. So while the hard-hitting players may have one or two innings where it completely hits off and they score a ton, their risk will eventually balance out their performance, whereas from these technical players you will get a consistent amount of runs, as we have been observing from Dravid and Laxman.

Actually,Dravid and Laxman have played some blistering knocks in ODIs.So,they can convert that performance to the T20 format as well.

No they cannot. In 50 overs cricket, there is scope for constructing an innings through singles and twos and taking time to get settled.

In 20 overs naturally there is no time, because you have only 120 balls to play with.

Neither Dravid nor Laxman are natural strikers who are adept at hitting in the air and over the top of the infield. Both depend on classic strokemaking and finding the gaps in the field to score their runs. So they will make runs consistently no doubt. I'm just questioning whether they'll make the runs quickly enough for the T20 format. Taking extraordinary risks is inevitable in T20 if you want a huge score.

They are not natural 6-hitters either. Both factors reduce their chances of making quick runs when needed.

Of course, being so talented as they are, I'm not saying they are totally incapable of scoring at a run a ball, but they are definitely not the T20 type of batsmen where you need to score at least at the rate of 8.5-10 runs an over consistently.

But who in their right mind would want Laxman or Dravid to play T20 cricket? Not me? I'd preserve them for longest variety of the game and help India win more matches overseas, rather than wear them out in a useless domestic competition.

Now, Tendulkar is a different story. He has always been an aggressive batsmen for most of his career and he can take the attack to the opposition with unconventional strokes. Therefore the T20 format might not be too alien to his style of play.

Yeah, but the point is that players are making so many runs now because the bowlers have no clue as to what they should be doing. If you watch the domestic Twenty20 in England you will note that the scores are probably slightly lower on average (or are before the Aussies left). This is because they've had 3-4 seasons to figure out ideal Twenty bowling lines and lengths. In these situations players who are technically gifted will excel because they will not try to cart unhittable balls over the ropes.
