I don't know about Dravid ever being an express scorer, but Laxman does have a unique talent for timing the ball and flicking good balls for 4, so I think potential is definitely there for him to play amazing innings, if not with a particularly high career strikerate. I think both should be able to keep the runs going at 8 an over quite often, but it will fall to other players to get up beyond 10.

Kallis is the one to be looking at, though. It seems like he is really struggling to find his game; and he's a much more powerful batsman than either of the other two.

One remembers the innings of Dravid against England and Nz when he scored 91 off 50 odd deliveries and also the one where he scored 50 off just 20 balls.

If you are to question as to whether these two should play T20,one needs to question why Wasim Jaffer is playing the same format. Also, how come Jaffer,a not so good player starts scoring all of a sudden.

I feel T20 is a game where you just need to throw your bat around and get lucky.

Agreed, Icyman. I'd add Jaffer to the list but he's shown a few signs of innovation in this IPL.

Laxman is a great Test player, but even you would admit that he's been having a tough time to get into the Indian ODI side for several years now.

Yeah, but the point is that players are making so many runs now because the bowlers have no clue as to what they should be doing. If you watch the domestic Twenty20 in England you will note that the scores are probably slightly lower on average (or are before the Aussies left). This is because they've had 3-4 seasons to figure out ideal Twenty bowling lines and lengths. In these situations players who are technically gifted will excel because they will not try to cart unhittable balls over the ropes.
I don't think that has been the problem. The problem has been extremely flat pitches which are totally devoid of any help to bowlers. In England the conditions are quite different and batting techniques are naturally different, so I wouldn't factor that into the scoring rates.

I bet a lot of domestic English seam bowlers would struggle in Indian conditions anyway especially in T20.

Time for low scoring games now. Batsman have enjoyed too much.

I'm frankly admitting that Chennai looks like the weakest team at the moment.

Stephen Fleming is a lameduck replacement for Hayden.

Parthiv Patel is useless at the top of the order without an aggressive partner at the other end.

Badrinath has done nothing of note in this tournament.

Dhoni has been blowing hot and cold.

Only Suresh Raina has shown some form.

And CHENNAI GO AND DROP ONE GUY WHO HAS SHOWN SOME PROMISE ( Vidyut ) ??????

They deserve to lose

What a SIX from Albie !! :happy Vaiby will jumping for sure:p

124 Meters..lol.
Now there is something you can pay for.
Go albie Make another fast 70s..
Great Spell from Ojha. I am loving this guy.

There you go another Massive from Albie..:laugh

Gony needs to open the batting for CSK. He's at least got the big hits and seems a better bet than either Parthiv Patel or Fleming at the moment. :p
