Knight Riders annihilate Royal Challengers in DLF IPL opener
A scintillating 158* from, man of the match, Brendon McCullum led a 140 run route from Shah Rukh Khan’s Knight Riders in the opening game of the first DLF IPL tournament. After a well received opening ceremony (but for some jeers for the BCCI President, Sharad Pawar), Rahul Dravid won the toss and decided to field on the flat Bangalore pitch. The Knight Riders got off to a flier, Ganguly the only loss within the first 12 overs with Brendon McCullum continuing an onslaught of the Royal Challengers’ bowling attack, racing to the highest individual T20 score in professional cricket. Kolkata finished on 222/3 with McCullum aptly ending the innings with a maximum over wide long on.
The Royal Challengers never got out of the starting blocks, with wickets falling at regular intervals. Typically hostile bowling from Ishant Sharma removed Rahul Dravid first ball of his spell, with his opening partner, Ashok Dinda dismissing Virat Kohli just seven balls later. Dinda impressed with some swing bowling generated from a powerful action and lead the way as the Royal Challengers folded for 82 all out – Ajit Agarkar the top wicket taker with 3/25 and Praveen Kumar (batting at 9) the only batsman in double figures with 18*.
Shah Rukh Khan bowed down in reverence to Brendon McCullum during his record breaking knock; today it was the Royal Challengers reduced to their knees as they fell to Sourav Ganguly’s Knight Riders as Brendon McCullum earned every cent of his $700,000 salary in the course of one memorable innings.
We were without Gayle,Butt,Akhtar and Gul .
Hopefully we can win the rest of the matches.
After today, can't wait for the rivalry between Dhoni and Yuvraj tomorrow!![]()
Dont worry. They are going to strike back and win this tournament.

Yes, I'm not disputing the fact that Kolkata may have won, but saying that Bagnalore won't win even one game is too much.
Did anyone else notice that Ishant has changed his action a little bit? His landing is far more powerful than before, and because of that he looks a lot faster too.
