Ross Taylor helps Deccan Chargers to 152

The crowd at the Wankhede went crazy when the Mumbai Indians team was out in the middle. As one would guess, it was all for the Little Master as the noise went louder and louder. Openers of Deccan Chargers made their way out as well to begin the first innings.

Deccan got off to a horrid start as the opening bowlers of Mumbai Indians in Umar Gul and Praveen Kumar struck pretty early to remove Dhawan, Ravi Teja and then Kaif for not much. Both the bowlers who are heavily dependent on swing got it to do just enough to cause problems for the Chargers' batsmen. Dhawan tried to get one over mid off but, found Kohli in the way. Teja was caught by Yusuf Pathan for zero as he tried an ambitious loft. Kaif was done by a brilliant short one from Gul as he skied it only for Kohli to get under it giving him his second catch of the match.

MS Dhoni, the skipper of Deccan Chargers was out at the center much earlier than he would expected. But, he had a job at hands now and he knew it. His partner at the other end was Ross Taylor who looked in fine form hitting some fantastic shots early on in his innings. Both played sensibly, kept on taking the singles and doubles. The running between the wickets was very good as one would expect with Dhoni out there. The duo put up 56 runs partnership for the 4th wicket.

2-1.jpg

Pragyan Ojha, the left arm spinner got the breakthrough for the Mumbai Indians. It came against a run of play as Dhoni was lured into going after a flighted delivery from Ojha. He played with a cross bat and paid a heavy price by losing his wicket at a crucial time of the innings; just when he was looking to go after the bowling. He was crossed with himself as he walked off the ground scoring 25 runs.

3-1.jpg

Dwayne Bravo joined Ross Taylor in the 12th over. Mumbai Indians seemed to have control over the game even though Taylor was looking dangerous after bringing up his half century. Bravo played a second fiddle to Taylor who took on the Mumbai bowling. Bravo made sure he rotated the strike often and kept the scorecard ticking. Taylor targeted the part time Yusuf Pathan as he went for 32 runs in his 2 overs. 17 of those coming in the last over of the innings. Ross Taylor was unbeaten on 86 off 62 balls. He played some exceptional shots in his innings with one being his trademark slog sweep!

Deccan innings ended on 152 for 4 in their 20 overs. That means Mumbai Indians will have to score 153 runs to chase down this target. Mumbai innings coming up at the other side of this break. Stay tuned...

These were the participants -

dc will lose 6 wickets of score of 165
In Deccan Chargers' innings 6 to 9 wickets will fall i.e Option C.
Dc gets all out. Option D.
Even I think 6 to 9 wickets will fall.
my prediction will be deccan will be all out so its D
As Gaurav is playing the game himself, I am positive that 6-9 wickets will fall in Deccan's innings so option C.

No one could guess correctly. I keep the 500vcash with myself. :p

Mumbai Indians need 153 runs to win from 20 overs

Since the pitch is a batting paradise, MI should chase that easily having such a unassailable batting order.

Mumbai Indians' top order suffers Steyn 'Scare'

Little Master, Sachin Tendulkar and Mr. Cricket, Michael Hussey came out to begin the chase for home side. 153 to get, many thought it would be an easy chase given the pitch conditions. But, who knew what was going to hit the Mumbai batsmen. The new ball pair of Deccan Chargers was probably the best one out there. Dale Steyn and Zaheer Khan shared the new ball for the Chargers. It was a fired up Steyn that turned up. Having worked up decent pace in the first over, his second over was what put Mumbai on the back foot straightaway. Sachin felt one going away from him. That resulted in an easy catch for Kaif at the 1st slip. There was a pin drop silence at the Wankhede as the great man walked off.

AB de Villiers hit one for a four. But, he couldn't survive for long. In the very same over, Steyn got AB to edge one that went straight to Kaif again at first slip. Dhoni's tactics of having two slips at the start seemed to work and he attacked even more after 2 early breakthroughs. Steyn was steaming in! Virat Kohli was next in line as he went the same way as the two others edging one to Ross Taylor at the 2nd slip. All of a sudden Mumbai Indians were 25 for 3 in the 5th over of the innings.

Having playing safe and watching wickets fall at the other end, it was on Michael Hussey to anchor the innings which looked down the barrel already. Rohit Sharma had come in next and played a couple of good looking drives. Mumbai fans and supporters will hope these two steady the ship and take their team out of trouble. Mumbai Indians are now on 43 for 3 after 6 overs. With 110 more runs needed to win, will it be Mumbai's batting depth that will come to the rescue or will the Deccan Chargers' bowlers be fully charged up and come to the party? To know more, stay tuned...

Mumbai Indians need 110 runs to win from 14 overs

It's not looking good for us at this time we've already lost 3 wickets. Though we can still win this if Hussey and Sharma get of to a good partnership.

That's a horrible start. We did bowl well, especially at the start but were undone by some individual magic of Rosco.

43 for 3 with the Powerplay ended? Come on, this is T20 cricket...by the general trend, either the openers win the match or the lower middle order does. There is no way that the chasing team will lose this one.

NB - I am about to be proven drastically wrong in the next update.
