What will the result of the Test series be?

pointless ODIs remaining.

They aren't pointless considering WC is near. They will be helpful in getting players like Zak, Bhajji, Tendlya and Viru in shape who have missed most of the ODIs last year.
Also if India manages to win it then it would be called a tour dominated by India on the land of SA. Also the winner will be high on confidence for WC.

I think they are pretty pointless:

(a) ZaK is more likely to get injured than get back into shape. The others, apart from Bhajji, also fall into that spectrum. We have more to lose than to gain.

(b) What value is there from getting practice in matches away from home. The key to winning in the subcontinent is to have your batsmen in form and to win the toss.

(c) "Tour dominated by India..." and "confidence for WC" are both psychological measures that I think are a bit overrated. India's best performance in a World Cup since winning it in 83 was when they were coming from a tour of New Zealand where they hadn't done squat. We know how good we are and where we stand, and considering we're playing in home conditions, I don't think there's any psychological edge we gain by winning this series.

(d) It gives the Saffers a chance to figure out further cracks in our ODI line-up.

To conclude, I think the ODI series is pretty pointless. It should have been 3 ODIs, if anything. 5 ODIs following such a great Test series would just be taking the lustre off a good exhibition of the highest form of the game.

----------

Sehwag is not playing ODI as he is injured. Gambhir too is not playing
There you go--we've already got injuries.

Now this is what is interesting.. With Vijay and Tendulkar opening, Will Rohit Sharma play or with Dhoni go with Kohli?

anyway, all this prediction stuff is boring now.

lets just be clear though War predicted either 2-0 or 3-0 to SA before the series started so you know, maybe not the best person to trust when allocating results for unplayed matches.

Winning/Losing series doesn't have much effect going into the world cup, Moreover the conditions are way different, India should go for a win rather than using it as practice for world cup.

Yea & IND win surprised me & represented what i described in this the post below. Since trends leading into the series pointed towards SA doing that IMO.

I predicted Sehwag would struggle as he did, while others reckon he may have averaged 70+ etc. So you win some & you lose some.

And....killer blow - he plays the minority card. Game, set and match. Well played, War.

Its interesting that you have decided to harp on this, when in fact im doing nothing of the sort & am just simply highlighted the poster dynamics of this forum & thread. But you have decided to turn a blind eye to poster AkshayS is accusing me of having a vendetta against India. Which apparantley is good poster vs poster discussion habits.

The planetcricket double standard.

Everyone can see what you are doing.

Right so now you have moved away from cricket discussion & are trying to accuse me of something i am not doing. Wonderful..

I agree it is simple cricket discussion but the theories are baseless.

Doesn't make any sense, those were annoying because they were baseless and about if's and buts.

Based on your statements so far im pretty sure if i was saying India would have come out better if 5 test where played. You would be defending me @ every point.

Again makes no sense, most of the fans here are ready to accept criticism like we have a really bad bowling attack, fielding standards are low etc. etc.
We are ready to accept what is actually truth but not exaggerated facts. And surely not yours ifs and buts......

I have exaggerated any facts or criticised anything about India's 1-1 series draw performance. I have however said numerous times that they earnt the 1-1 draw.

Im simply bringing forward a simple discussion that cricinfo Sidharth Monga started, by insinuating what could have happened if the series was played over 5 tests. But apparantley such a level of discussion is a bit over your head.

And Why are you actually questioning when they have done it. And don't tell me your theory isn't actually a big question. You're questioning India's performance or I must say you just can't accept it.

The other moment you said:

You should know War, that your theories are based on if that would have happened or I should say they are baseless.
Well I don't care anymore for your paragraph long baseless B.S., and probably won't reply back to you and keep myself in check.

:lol. Oh my i think you should seriously read that statement again, since its clear your comprehension skills has currently gone awol.

That first & 2nd statement clearly shows that I AM NOT QUESTIONING whether IND deserved they 1-1. So you can lay off your futile attempts of accusing me of not wanting to accept what IND accomplished in this series.

Arguing with your is like gay sex, no result. I give up. As Sohum said on last page, this won't go anywhere, carry on War.

Sounds like someone has never had gay sex :p

Anyone actually care about these ODI's coming up? I'd kill for 2 or even 1 more Test match. Will be a long time before these two play each other again and the teams will look completely different by then.

War definitely has a lot of free time on hand.:D

BCCI should arrange for 5 test series with teams like Australi,England and South Africa.

Normally I would but with the wc coming up and still some question marks over our bowling and lower middle order we need the odi game time.

Aren't there going to be warm-up matches at the World Cup? Or has it been scheduled so poorly that teams are going straight into the round robin?
