Vijay isn't selected for the World Cup, so the bashing isn't needed.

And it's really time that Ashwin plays a couple of matches. Otherwhile he goes to the World Cup underprepared.

Thank god VIjay isn't in the squad. He doesn't deserve to be any where near the team.

And rightfully so. Don't tell me Vijay hasn't had enough chances to prove himself. Yes, brilliant catch by Steyn, but doesn't excuse Vijay's other innings. I've been a Vijay supporter since I saw him first in domestic cricket, but the way he goes about his business in ODI cricket is horrid to say the least.

Oh BS. Sehwag has also been a subcontinent (and flat track) batsman. Wonder what would have happened had he played this ODI series against Steyn and Tsotbe (who seems a very dangerous ODI bowler). Sehwag after all these years still looks very vulnerable and suspect when the conditions are helpful to bowlers. Vijay has always been taking baby steps in ODI's because the Indian top order in ODI's has always been very air tight giving Vijay almost no chance to penetrate through. This series is probably the one instance of Vijay getting his best run in ODI's (3 games in a trot). He has been given a lot of slack.

Vijay:facepalm
This man should be nowhere near the team , open with Parthiv instead. He has wasted every opportunity given to him and will continue to disappoint. Bring in Parthiv.

Vijay played 3 matches against the kiwis in the recently concluded series and even in the matches played in India he hasn't done anything to justify his place in the team.

Vijay is no good an it is proven now. He should vacate the place for somebody else, bring in Parthiv for next 2 matches. His ODI average is below 20 in 11 matches.

Sai, I don't think it will be right to compare Sehwag with Vijay. I mean we all know how limited Sehwag is when it comes to technique but that said, he's effective. On the other hand, I personally find Vijay to have a good technique which I believe most will agree with. But, it seems that he's trying a bit too much when ODIs are concerned. He's trying to play cross-batted shots a bit too much plus some pre-thought shots like on Indian pitches. He has such a nice technique and just needs to stay long on the crease which he so far has failed to do.

These two are really playing well!!

Kohli has really played well this series :)

Vijay has played only 11 games (including the current one). I mean everyone seems to be pouncing on him for his failures, but he has never been given a decent run in the team. He has always played with the knowledge that he has to vacate his place once the regular openers (Gambhir, Sehwag or Tendulkar) come back. He does the same in tests too, but there with more games in his kitty, his confidence and form has improved (he eventually made a century against Aussies). He needs to be given a decent run in the side and then see the results. He was given just that by Dhoni for CSK, and he became one of the top scorers in the IPL and he was the top scorer in the CLT20 last time. He should be thankful that he has got a chairman of selectors who backs him, or else he would have been off the radar by now inspite of not having got a decent run.

tweaking I jinxed him ████

That is how the new players seal their spots in the team. That's how Kohli sealed his spot.
You just don't say,"Tendulkar sit back, Vijay gonna seal his spot in the team and would play for next 20 games or so."

De facto, he has totally messed up the 11 opportunities that came his way. Time to try somebody else like Parthiv or Mukund.

It also depends on luck. Kohli was lucky, Vijay is not. Luck has helped many ordinary players, and has also quashed hopes of many good players.

tweaking I jinxed both of them... :(

India in huge trouble here. Dhoni gone!! Yuvraj, Raina are the two guys remaining on whom we can place a faint hope. But with Dhoni gone, we have to pray that we can get to the finishing line because none of the remaining give much hope as all depend on their days to click.
