Australia Vs Bangladesh
( First Day Game in this Tournament )

A very Good Morning to all... Hello and welcome to the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai for the match between Australia and Bangladesh. Well, its known to everyone that, the team winning this match wud be qualified for the semi finals.

Its a huge suprise that the staidium is already full at the moment which is very rare in Bangladesh matches. Prbly, it may be due to the excitement victory of Bangladesh over England. Now lets go to Mr. Geoffrey Boycott who is waiting for us to give the weather and pitch reports!

Weather Conditions :-
Its already a hot climate here... That too being a Day match, its going to be tough and very hot for the players in later part of this day! But there are indications for any interruptions, so we wud be getting a full day's play without any doubts. Its going to be umpires who are going to have tough time than players in this hot conditions as they have to stand in this hot weather through out the match ;)

Pitch Report

mumbaipitchfk3.jpg

Well, This pitch is known to offer assistance to bowlers and is largely a spinner and pace friendly track. It offers spin and bounce to spin bowlers and swing to fast bowlers during the early part of the day due to the ground being close to sea. So once again, another bowler friendly track which seems to be a good news for Aussies. But spinners too have major advantage here which Bangladesh wud be looking to utilise it.

Also, lets see the track record for Highest and Lowest ODI scores,

*
The highest ODI total at the Wankhede Stadium is 299/4 by India against Sri Lanka in the 1986/1987 season.
* The lowest ODI total at the Wankhede Stadium is 115 all out by Bangladesh against India in the 1998 season.

So this pitch is going to be a tough one for batting. Anything around 250+ shd be a match winning score or atleast shd be a tough one for the team batting second to achieve it. The team winning the toss wud mostly like to bowl to utilise the early conditions. Thats it from the pitch report. Now we wud go straight to the Toss. :)

Toss :- Well, Australian captain, Ponting won the toss and decided to bowl first. Well there is no suprise in the decision as its a expected one. It wud be interesting to see how Bangladesh batsmen tackles the dangerous Aussie bowling in this bowler friendly wicket.

Teams

Australia

Its Gillespie returning to ODIs after a long time mainly becos of some good performances in sub continent tracks. Gillespie,McGrath and Lee are definitely going to be tough in bowling department. Australian team, as overall, looks strong though M.Clarke was not able to make in TeamXI becos of Watson!

Bangladesh

Abdur Razzak is into the Team XI this time and M.Islam is being left out. But the side looks very promising! But its going to be a testing time for the openers in this bowling track.

So, all set ready for the start of the match and all the actions are yet to commence soon and all coming LIVE on Star Sports. We will take a short break, after which, we will straight away take you to Ball 1 of this match! :)

Bangladesh Put Into Bat.

Great pres and I the facts about the ground and the scores just backs up how much time and effort you put into your story, and they are interesting and can be looked back on when the final result and scores are known.

I have a feeling though that if Bangles get about 200 they could win this one, so I think the fact the Ponting has put them in gives them an opportunity. :D

Strong side. Bangladesh should get a decent 250+ score, and then take advantage of the cracks and let Razzaq, Rafique and Saleh/Ashraful rip apart the Aussie batting!
It might be a good idea to let Aftab come in at 3. He is known for his fireworks when the field is in...

strong aussie side, a very balanced all round team with the inclusion of both symonds and watson

Struggles For Batsmen
( Aussies get an early breakthrough )

Well, everything was set ready for the start of the game. McGrath and Gillespie share the new ball while Omar and Nafees are the opening the batsmen for Bangladesh. Both the bowlers had a great start by bowling some tight spells. Batting looks tough on this wicket. McGrath was getting nice movement at the same time. Ponting utilised this chance by attacking Bangladesh batsmen with two slips. Nafees and Omar were both very careful but Gillespie striked for Aussies with the wicket of Omar, who got century against England in last game.

Omar Dismissed by Gillespie

Inclusion of Gillespie over Bracken & Clarke remained a question mark to all Aussie fans. But Gillespie brought the early break through to continue his good sub continent record.

Gillespie bowled a beautiful delivery that moved marginally away from the right handed Omar. Omar, while attempting to play an ordinary cover drive, due to this marginal movement, was decieved and missed it that resulted in ball striking the stumps which was the first wicket down for Bangladesh.

Gillespie was delighted to strike early especially making a comeback after a long time. Aussies celebrated this wicket together. But its a big blow for Bangladesh, as Omar got century in last match and was expected to play an key role. There was little disappointment in the Bangla's dressing room but the match has just started. So all hopes fell on Nafees now to carry on!

Bashar replaced Omar at the crease joining Nafees.

Problems Created By Opening Bowlers

Both the opening bowlers, McGrath and Gillespie, never allowed the batsmen to play the shots freely. They were troubling the batsmen with swing and bouncers.

Both Omar and Nafees were edged to McGrath in the same over initially but they were safe as it was wider from the slips. McGrath got little frustrated as its not carrying to slips and gave a sarcastic smile and kept on nodding his head saying few words at the batsmen.

The pitch assisted the movement of the ball to a great extent. There were many teasing deliveries that almost missed the edge of bat while attempting to play at it. Even ordinary strokes made the batsmen to get decieved becos of the movement. Gilchrist, behind the stumps, was filled with excitement and seemed to be eagerly waiting for a edge! ;)

Well, 10 Overs ended and the bowlers gained upper hand compared to the batsmen and infact kept on troubling the batsmen! Nafees and Bashar, inspite of the struggles, are watchful enough making sure that not to throw away the wicket. With one early wicket, Bangladesh had made the steady start to the innings so far!

Bangladesh :- 31/1(10)
S.Nafees : 11*(24)
H.Bashar : 14*(28)

J.Omar : 2(8) Dismissed by Gillespie.

the banglas are struggling so far against the aussies and they are yet to face brett lee

Come on Bangladesh....looks like the aussies are bowling well, Ashraful and Aftab Ahmed can come in and up the run rate:)

Yea, Aftab and Ashraful will fire in the end. As for now, Nafees and Bashar just have to play it safe and smart..

well done bangladesh on only losing one wicket but theit is 40 overs left at 3.1 our current run rat we would get 155 but we will start firing:)
