Huge Blow : Nafees Dismissed
( Bangladesh Entering Into Last 10 Crucial Overs )

nafeesoutjz1.jpg

After Hogg finished his great spell, Ponting stopped Watson also and introduced Symonds & Lee into the attack. Symonds striked in his very first ball with the huge wicket of Nafees.

In the very first ball, Nafees attempted an aggressive sweep shot but he didnt get the timing right. This resulted in the top edge, making the ball to go high in the air without any distance. Gilchrist followed the track of the ball and got underneath it and took an simple catch to dismiss Nafees.

Ponting was delighted and the entire Aussie team celebrated this wicket with huge joy becos Nafees was only batsmen who threatened the bowlers! Nafees made his way back to the dressing room and recieved applauses from everyone. Also some disappointments were seen in Bangla's dressing room as their main hope is gone now.

Bangla's Wicket keeper joins Aftab Ahmed at the crease. Aftab Ahmed started in a positive way and he got his first boundary straight away with a six in Lee's over. Well, the last Ten Overs are remaining now and its very crucial for Bangla team to play the entire 50 Overs to get an competitive score.

Bangladesh :- 167/5(40)
K.Mashud : 7*(14)
A.Ahmed : 22*(21)

Nafees : 77(92) Dismissed by Symonds.

Aussies in a demanding position and now Bangladesh need to just hang in there just pushing singles.
Once again great presentation :clap

Aww...Masud, Rafique, Mortaza and Aftab can all hit the ball a long way. They just need to apply themsevles, 1-2 big overs, 80 runs form the last ten, and 220 is quite defendable.

Aussies Need 231Runs
( Aftab's handy 50 helped Bangladesh )

Well, after the crucial wicket of Nafees, Aussies were looking to finish off the lower order of Bangladesh but Aftab provided a strong ressistance that shattered the hopes of Aussies! Lee striked with the wicket of Mashud in his last over but after that, strong partnership was developed between Rafique and Aftab Ahmed!

Mashud Dismissed by Lee

Lee was bowling his last over(10th) and he was able to get his first wicket sending Mashud to pavilion.

Lee bowled an quick delivery, & Mashud used the pace of Lee and attempted to go over the top. It was timed properly but didnt get the enough distance. The ball landed safely in hands of Watson near the boundary. Another wicket added to the wicket column of Bangladesh!

The entire Aussie team celebrated as they were right on the track in restricting Bangla below 200. Mashud walked towards the dressing room and disappointments increased in Bangla's dressing room.

Rafique joined Aftab at the crease. Aftab spoiled all the hopes of Ponting with his quick innings.

Aftab's Crucial Innings

Aftab, to everyone's suprise, took the role of Nafees and infact was scoring faster than Nafees. Aftab played some excellent shots all around the ground, moving his feet well in the crease.

After Lee's final spell, Ponting operated with Gillespie and McGrath. Gillespie was threatening to some extent but both the batsmen didnt find any difficulties in pushing singles off McGrath's over. There were plenty of running than boundaries in last ten overs. Aftab smashed two huge sixes though, in McGrath's over making the bowler panic.

Last Over(50th) :- The last over of the innings which was bowled by McGrath fetched 17 Runs for Bangla team and full credits for excellent batting from Aftab.

Rafique was on strike. He gave a single in very first ball. Then Aftab smashed a once bounce four which was followed by a huge six in next ball. McGrath was frustrated. The next two deliveries were singles which brought Aftab once again on strike for the last delivery. Aftab finished the Bangla's innings in style with a four by playing a lovely cut shot in offside.

Last Over : 1,4,6,1,1,4

Bangladesh ScoreCard

With fifty overs ended, Bangladesh were able to set 231 as Target which is the challenging total in these conditions. Well, NewZealand in the match against SriLanka struggled to get the similar target around 230s. So its going to be interesting how Aussies are going to respond to this total.

Aussies Need 231 Runs To Win From 50 Overs.

Excellent stuff Aftab. He is a great master-blaster in the making. 231 is quite defendable, it's a good pacy wicket, help there for Mortaza and Shadat (Maybe even experiment a bit with Aftab's swingers for 2-3 overs), and then enough cracks for Rafique, Razzaq and Saleh to exploit. If it will turn big, then give the wrist spinner Ashraful a go. Hogg had some success, so who knows...

( With Brad Hogg and Ravi Shastri )

R.S : Good Afternoon everyone.. Welcome to the Short Inning break for the match between Australia and Bangladesh. Well, Bangladesh played well in the end getting themselves into a challenging position considering the pitch conditions!

R.S : Well, In Today's innings break, we have Brad Hogg, who dominated in the bowling department, to share few words with us!

R.S : Hogg, you had a impressive spell today... Can u tell us, how the pitch was to bowl?

B.H : The pitch has a great support for the bowlers. It was assisting the bowlers with great movement of the ball. Overall, It was enjoyable to bowl in these conditions :)

R.S : Your great spell included three crucial wickets which was half of the total wickets taken! So is this going to support the spinners more or pace bowlers also?

B.H : I wud say, the spinners have a slight upper hand over the pace bowlers in these type of wickets! The new ball wud be effective for fast bolwers to get the swing like what Gillespie and McGrath did in their first spells. But once the ball becomes old, spinners wud be better getting lots of turns in this wicket especially cracks can be well utilised by spinners!

R.S : Bangladesh having good spin options compared to Aussie bowling attack... so wud it turn as a drawback for Aussies?

B.H : 231 is not going to be easy to get in these conditions. First 15 Overs are going to be crucial for both the teams. Our batsmen just need to be watchful to play with patience. I guess, once if the players settle in, they wont be having much problems! Hope we do well in batting too! ;)

R.S : One final question, you finished your Ten Overs spell continously.. werent u tired? :p

B.H : No Actually!:) As i said, it was more enjoyable to bowl! :)

R.S : Thanks Hogg for sharing a few words with us! Gud Luck in batting too.

B.H : Thanx Ravi!

R.S : So thats the short chat with the impressive bowler of the day so far! Also, the pitch is expected to support the bowlers a lots especially the spinners! So its important for one of the openers to get a flying start for Aussies to stay safe in this game... Meanwhile, Bangla wud be looking to utilise the spinners a lot in this game!

R.S : So all the actions and excitements not yet over.... Its coming all the way LIVE on Star Sports with Aussies response to this target of 231. Till then, Bye from here and we wud be taking u directly to the first ball of Australian innings! Stay Tuned!
