(With Sunil Gavaskar & Geoffrey Boycott )

S.G : Hello and welcome to the " Fourth Umpire " for the detailed analysis of the exciting match between NewZealand and Bangladesh. Also, we have our expert anaylst, Mr. Geoffrey Boycott ;) with us to discuss the things that happened today.

S.G : well Geoffrey, Bangladesh almost made it today but Astle gave a suprise to everyone!

G.B : Yes Sunil, I still can't believe that Astle got a hattrick! It changed the game compeletely! I was expecting a another last ball finish today. ;)

S.G : Well it was a close one though it didn't last till the last ball :) Ok, Coming back to the first innings, whats ur opinion on that?

G.B : Firstly, Bangladesh's decision of bowling first was a great decision as there was lots of movement of the ball on fresh wicket. Infact they did well to restrick Kiwis below 230! i guess its a low score so far in this tournament if i remember right!

Regarding Kiwis batting, the track was very much against the batsmen today! Still, i feel, they cud have done much more better.. Though they won a close contest today, batting in depth overs was not upto the expectations. Oram completely changed his approach of being too much defensive though he was able to give a sloid support! In he first innings, without any doubts, Bangladesh did very well!

S.G : Yup, Bangla did well throughout this tournament! Also Geoffrey, who impressed you very much in first session?

G.B : For Bangladesh, Mortaza and For Kiwis, Bond! :) No doubts! I tell u, this guy Mortaza has lots of talents and shd be definetly one of the great bowlers in future if he continues the same as he is now! His line and length was great. After seeing Bond's bowling later, I dont find any difference between these two.. yeah ofcourse, pace was key for Bond, but in line and length, these two almost looked similar to me! It was Kiwi batsmen who were watchful otherwise, Mortaza wud have created more damage!

S.G : Bond already had a threatening role in previous match against Lankans and now he continued the same! Also it seems that you were confused a bit between Bond & Mortaza's line and length :p Well, here is the bowling map that will make you clear further!

Bowling Map

bondvsmortazavp5.jpg

G.B : Now its clear :) Both looks very impressive.. As i mentioned, Bond's pace helped to be threatening more. Also Bond was mixing the slow and quick deliveries very well. The suprise slow delivery was responsible of couple of wickets. Aftab, who was looking dangerous fell in one of the slow deliveries of Bond!

S.G : yes, the variations of pace was also there for Bond that made batsmen to struggle further. In Bangla's chase, whats ur view Geoffrey?

G.B : Batsmen struggled as expected. Fleming cleverly made use of his bowlers. But i still didn't get why he stopped Franklin after first over but Mills did extremely well in his first spell. Bowling options of Oram, Styris and Astle were cleverly handled by Kiwis skipper. In batting, most of the batsmen got good starts after being watchful but they failed to continue for a long run! Any one of the batsmen --- Ashraful,Bashar,Aftab,Saleh must have stayed till the end to make it for Bangla. But once again bowlers did well inspite of the dew factor!

S.G : The dew was troubling the fielders also who were finding hard to chase the ball. Also Geoffrey, do u think Vettori shd have been brought earlier and used more?

G.B : No! Vettori didn't get any help from the pitch and was struggling to flight the delivery due to the dew factor where he found lots of difficulty in gripping the ball. He didn't get any variations! All he tried was to bowl straighter as ball skidded from his hands which was easily put away for runs! But he got a handy wicket of Bashar. So there was some good for kiwis from his spell! As i said, Fleming handled the bowlers very well :)

S.G : :) Regarding Vettori, we have got a hawkeye to indicate how he bowled the second over where he went plenty of runs!

Vettori's Second Over!

vettoribowlrd3.jpg

G.B : There u can see, the area where he was pitching the ball gave lots of trouble. It became very easy for the batsmen to play the shots well.

S.G : Yeah, also he cud have tried changing the angle as that wud have made a bit tough for the batsmen with the same line and length!

G.B : Fleming was quite satisfied to get the wicket of Bashar and he doesn't want to take risk of using Vettori after that :)

S.G : :laugh Well, did u expect Bangladesh to win this in the end?

G.B : Well, the last over confused me when Astle was given the ball. I thought Fleming is allowing to slip the match from his hands with that move. I was expecting Bond to come in last over while 49th to be bowled from other like Oram or Styris or Mills or Franklin! With Astle given the ball, i felt Bangladesh wud make it easily! In the end, the hattrick was a shocking suprise. ;)

S.G : It doesn't happen often in ODIs.. that too bowlers like Astle getting an hattrick is somewat like a miracle! Here is teh hawkeye for the last over!

Astle's HatTrick ( 50th Over )

astlehattrickpy7.jpg

G.B : I should say, it was a great luck that showered on Astle in last over! ;) The first ball was well bowled and infact it was according to the field set by Fleming! But the second one was a poor delivery where batsman cud have played it cheekily like Tendulkar does.. But it was a poor attempt by Razzak to get dismissed in that delivery! The final delivey was a simple one but it was mainly due to pressure Hossain threw his wicket away!

S.G : Yeah aggreed Geoffre, there was lot of luck involved in that over! :)

S.G : Ok Geoffrey now its time for the three special segments which will be continued right after a short break.

G.B : Sure Sunil :)

( ... Continuation .... )

S.G : Welcome back after a short break here in the fourth Umpire. Now its the time for our special segments starting with the master blaster!

Well, it was really tough to select this as the bowlers dominated batsmen throughout! But we finally concluded that Aftab, who came in a pressure situation, did exceptionally well to score some quick runs and Aftab is Star Sports Master blaster of the day! :)

aftabaggressiontj6.jpg

G.B : Aftab started off very well and he cud have finished this game early if he wud have stayed! But unfortunately, he misjudged the slow delivery from Bond! He batted well in previous game and continued the same even today!

S.G : Now its time for Safe Hands of the day!

Well, In the first wicket of this match, i.e Sinclar's dismissal, Razzak made an fantastic dive to take an amazing catch which is our Safe hands of today!

safehandstitleuk2.jpg

sinclairoutik7.jpg

G.B : Yet another flying catch. But it was less seen in today's game compared to previous games ;) This Razzak's catch is one of the toughest catch to take as the ball was at very low height! Hence its rightly called as safe hands! :)

S.G : Now to the last segment, Super Moment of the day which was once again to pick.

Well, Nafees was the main key for Bangladesh who did exceptionally well in last two games. Dismissing him earlier is our Super Moment of the day!

smtitlemc8.jpg

nafeesout5fo.jpg

G.B : I feel, added to this, dismissal of Aftab and Astle's hattrick is also a super moment ;)

S.G : Yes, it was also a turning point, but Nafees has the capacity to accelerate the scorecard continuously which wud have taken the pressure off from Bangla. So dismissing him in the initial stage was the first step to today's success!

G.B : :)

S.G : Thats it Geoffrey from the show.. i think its gone a bit longer again than as usual ;) So final words from u Geoffrey?

G.B : Once again it was an exciting cricket action that took place today!

For Bangladesh, the progress they have made so far in this tournament reflects their hard work very well. They have done an fantastic job in this series and infact turned everyone's attention towards them! Today's loss was just due to some inexperience in handling the pressure situations that too in this stage of a big tournament! Anyways, they have learnt a lots from this series.. they created a huge upset on two big teams, England & Aussies.. They proved they have the capability... All i can say is, " Hats off to You Bangla... :hpraise Gud Luck for the future! "

For Kiwis, Fleming's captaincy has really impressed me today! The way he handled the bowlers, the way he worked with his fielders.. it was absolutely amazing for a captain! Once again, Bond impressed not only me but everyone.. They look very strong contenders for the finals.. All the very best to NewZealand!

S.G : With those beautiful words from Geoffrey, we are concluding our show!

S.G : Thanx everyone for watching it and hope everyone enjoyed it... Also Thanks Geoffrey for the nice analysis! And thats all from the studio,we will join u in next show in second Semi Finals between India and WestIndies! Now we will take you directly to the presentation Ceremony with Ravi Shastri! Stay Tuned On Star Sports!

G.B :Bye! :)

Great fourth umpire, and what a match, Astle was lucky to get the second though, looking at hawkeye he could have late cutted it for four as there wa sno fielder there.
