Really disappointing for the South Africans that, a solid platform set by Kallis and Gibbs should have been built on by the middle and late order. People got in and got out which wasn't good enough.
Having said that, neither side will be too disappointed at the state of the game. It's evenly balanced.
India In SouthAfrica IndiaVs SouthAfrica Third Test,Live From Newlands, Cape Town. Day 2, 8:00AM.
( Taking Guard, Series Decider, Day2 ~ A Preview )
Welcome back to Cape Town for joining us on Day2 of this final test match which is meant to be a series decider. Well, on first day's play, SouthAfrica did get some quick runs but at the same time they sacrificed their wickets and now they have only one more wicket in their hand. So, its difficult to expect a score above 450 which might have been a dominating score. But atleast, they would be expecting to cross that 400 mark to get some psychological advantage.
Weather And Pitch Report : Regarding the weather conditions, there is no much change from the previous day. The same sunny conditions is expected which means we would be getting the uninterrupted gameplay on Day2. Its definitely a good news for all the fans who are going to turn-up today. Already they have started coming.
And regarding the pitch conditions, bowlers still have advantage especially during first one hour of the play. Pace bowlers are expected to gain a slight advantage over the spinners initially... And the spinners who are yet to play a dominating role, are expected to be more effective from late afternoon session where there may be some cracks assisting them.
Tough Job In Batting Ahead for TeamIndia !
Looking at the conditions, its never going to be easy to bat against the quality pace attack of Africans. Pollock, Ntini and Nel are the main ones to watch for in the second innings. If Indian batters succeed in keeping them quiet, then India will be definitely looking for a respectable score on their card.
Some hard practices have been undertaken by Indian players. They concentrated majorly in batting department though they are left with taking that remaining one wicket. Of all, the expectations are very high on Dravid, Tendulkar and Ganguly to do the things for their team. Dravid being the opening batsmen, has more pressure on himself in playing the " Wall " role.
India can also opt the SA's method of trying to score quickly but as we already observed, it has a high risk of loosing quick wickets. We saw many quick fifties in SA side.. but if those wickets have been sacrificed in the initial stage itself, then SA would have been in most terrible situation. Fortunately, it didn't happen to them.
So Probably, Indian team would look to play with more watchfulness and alertness without any hurry.. After all, they lead the series by 1-0. Have to wait and see the strategy how this Indian team going to respond to the total set by SouthAfricans.
Captain's Confidence.
:Well, we did struggle in controlling their quick flow of runs but at the same time we succeeded in getting the wickets in regular intervals. Runs and Wickets came in balanced intervals. Now, its time to focus on batting and put some decent score on the board. Its too early to judge about the match's result and lets see how the things turn up on Day2.
:It was a good toss to win. We had some great batting performances from Gibbs/Kallis and Kemp/Mark. But we would have been more happy if we had preserved the wickets. Anyways, with total of around 400, we still have confidence in our bowling department. Dravid and Tendulkar are going to be the key wickets which our bowlers would be looking to get it early. If we manage to end up in a good lead, we do have the chance of leveling this series.
Thus both the captains have expressed their confidence. Its going to be interesting to see whether there still exists an equal contest between bat and the ball or anyone going to dominate the other. All the actions to start in some moments.
Like always, the first one hour of this session is going to be very crucial. We have to wait and see how it turns out and all the actions starting in few moments. StarSports will bring you the entire coverage of the actions of Day2 straight from CapeTown.. So Sit back and enjoy all the actions. All the LIVE Actions to commence in few moments.... Stay Tuned
Good update, they are only minor grammatical errors. Can't wait for the 2nd days play, should be a cracker, as if India really pile on the runs they will be hot favourites to take the series.

Its Bowlers Session! ( SA AllOut, India's Poor Start With Bat )
Well, with just one wicket remaining, SA batsmen came out following the umpires and fielders. Dravid was contented to continue with Anil Kumble. The field setup was aggressive. Umpire asked Jumbo to start with the Day's play and there was a huge roar when the first ball of Day2 was about to be delivered. As expected, SA lost their last wicket on 395 without any further resistance.
Kumble Finishing it Off.
Kumble's flipper did the trick. Nel just tried to defend the ball but it managed to stay in air for some time.. And, the silly point fielder made an great attempt to take the catch single handedly. The entire Indian team was excited to great extent as they managed to restrict the home team below 400. Players left the field with happy mood. Indian coach in the dressing room was also pleased with the later efforts from his bowlers. Now everyone's eyes were on Indian batting............
Shocking Start to Indian Innings.
After a short break, Indian openers - Karthik and Dravid came out of the dressing room following the SA fielders and umpires. There were more expectations on this pair too as they did pretty well in last test. Pollock and Ntini shared the new ball. The field setup was very attacking. Karthik easily managed to get off the mark with a wonderful leg-glance but in other end, Dravid was bit uncomfortable. Dravid got decieved too by Ntini and remained on the same Zero even after facing Ten deliveries. Soon after, Ntini took advantage of this Dravid's struggle.
It was a beautiful in-swing which Dravid failed to recognise.. As a result, the ball failed to make any contacts with the bat and striked the stumps. Thus Dravid was clean bowled by Ntini. It created a great shock among all the Indian fans and in Indian dressing room. Dravid walked back to pavilion with his head down. It was even more disappointing to see the Indian skipper getting out for a big rounded Zero.: Laxman replaced him at the crease.
Laxman did started well with couple of promising boundaries but he also became the victim of Ntini's swinging delivery. This time, batsman marginally missed the ball and it resulted in clean bowled. Laxman, for a moment, didn't understand anything and stood staring at the bowler and his partner, Karthik. The celebrations of SA team continued and Smith was excited the most. Soon after, Laxman made his way back to the dressing room. The score was just around 25 when Laxman departed putting the Indian team in massive pressure.
Some More Actions.
Ntini's pace and bouncers did trouble the batsmen right from the start. In one of Ntini's bouncers, Karthik attempted an huge pull shot but he missed it and it went straight to Boucher. SouthAfrican Captain who was standing nearby Karthik came towards him and exchanged few words with Karthik. This distracted Karthik. He didn't respond anything inturn except a stare. Ntini also gave a sarcastic look to Karthik.
Soon, when Karthik went to non-striker's end, he was found having few words with the umpire. It looked like a complaint on Smith's action though. Have to wait and see whether Smith get any fine for this act. Its to be noted that, Dravid is also expected to get some fine for the slow over rate on Day1. Karthik, inspite of being distracted, continued to play shots in confident manner.
Ganguly/Tendulkar Departed in Successive Deliveries.
Smith brought the first bowling change by bringing Kallis in Ntini's end. It remained as a great suprise as Kallis was given the ball ahead of Nel. But this bowling change did click for SA.... that too with quick two major wickets.
In one of the deliveries of Kallis, Ganguly tried to put it away in leg side but the shot was improperly timed and it striked the pads...immediately, there was a huge shout from the keeper, slip fielders... But it was only a half shout from Kallis as it did looked like an inside edge. The umpire after taking some time, raised his hand to give the decision in favour of the bowler. This put Ganguly in huge suprise. He gave a sarcastic smile towards the umpire.. He also raised his bat indicating that inside edge. He returned to dressing room with lots of frustrations. Poor Umpiring decisions are becoming common these days in cricket.
Tendulkar walked in as the new batsman but he failed to handle this pressure situation. Kallis, in very first ball to Tendulkar, succeeded with a thick edge that carried comfortably to the first slip fielder. This simple catch was taken and the celebrations continued again. Smith was relieved the most as the top order of Indian line-up was crushed by his bowlers. Score was just 39 when the first four wickets went. This was a massive pressure situation for India and it created huge disappointments to all the Indian spectators.
Two keepers, Dhoni and Karthik played some sensible cricket after that and were watchful enough in denying another wicket for SouthAfricans. Soon after, umpire removed the bails and asked the players to leave for lunch break. Players left the field.
Well, first session of Day2 was purely the bowlers session. Ball made a clean win over the bat in this session. India is in deep trouble at the moment in their response to SA's 395. Indian team wanted a good huge partnership from the lower order to rescue or atleast to put them in some good position. Meanwhile, " Enforcing Follow-on " should be definitely running in Smith's mind. They would be badly looking for that lower order collapse to put SA in commanding position in leveling this series. The contest is not yet over though.. Lets see what happens in session2 of Day2. Stay Tuned!
