HEAVY SHOWERS

Well, Its almost been one hour gone but the showers were even more heavier at this moment and it also resulted in water stagnation in many places on the field!!! Its not even possible for the two umpires to come to the ground as the showers were so heavy and non stop for last one hour!!! Dravid, Lara & Two Umpires were found together in the dressing room... Both the umpires have been found discussing for a long time....

Atlast Umpires officially announced that " Match is being called off "

Match Abandoned due to rain means that the winner of this match will be decided by The Duckworth-Lewis rule.

Both the captains were together watching the calculation of the target by D/L rule and also umpires were along with them!!! After a having a full look at it, Rahul Dravid, Indian Skipper kept his hands on his head with more disappointment!!!


This is how the target was calculated by D/L rule for West Indies,

D/L Table

Explanation :

* For West Indies, The overs left were 20 and Wickets lost was 5.


* Team 1's ( India's ) innings was uninterrupted, so the resource used up percentage is 100 %


* Team 2's ( WI's ) innings played 30 overs with loss of 5 wickets and from the table, the resource left is calculated as 38.6

* So the resource used up percentage is 100 - 38.6 = 61.4%


Revised Target :

New Target to win = India's Total * Resource used by ( Windies / India ) + 1

i.e Target to Win for WestIndies = (241 * 61.4/100) + 1 = 148.


So Windies score should be,

* 147 To draw the match
* 148 to win the match.

But West Indies have already scored 159 Runs for 30 overs which is more than the required wining Total.

This means that West Indies Win This Match By D/L Method!!!

Rahul Dravid was extremely disappointed as he believed that his bowlers could take off the lower order easily as most dangerous batsmen like Sarwan,Lara,Chanderpaul,Lara have already being dismissed!!! Also in recent months Windies lower order have showed a poor batting display... So India was slightly having an upper hand but unfortunately rain spoiled it!!!

Also Brian Lara was extremely happy as this will be his second consecutive victory in this series and Windies will be secured a bit to enter into the finals!!! So he was happy nomatter how the victory comes....

There were more disappointed faces seen in Indian crowd who were still waiting with their umbrellas!!! Also Indian coach was also not happy.... Dravid returned to Indian dressing room after giving a warm handshake to the umpires and Windies skipper. This ends the match with the result that Windies won by D/L rule and the presentation is last thing pending for the second match of the DLF cup!!!

S.G : Welcome to the Cricket Cafe show in which we will be analyzing the match today between India & WestIndies!!! We have Geoffrey with us to discuss all the things happened today.... So Geoffrey, What to do u think of the result first ? Has rain Favoured Windies?


G.B : Not Exactly " favoured Windies "... But the match cud have gone in a close way..This is One Day cricket and noone knows the winner until the result is obtained!!


S.G : Indian Bowlers picking all the major wickets... Lara,Gayle,Sarwan,Chanderpaul and two new batsmen at the crease, wont u think that Indian bowlers cud have made it?


G.B : As I told u, its One Day cricket... Remember that W.Hinds played some sweet shots against Aussies and also Smith with some big shots against Aussies.. Bravo yet to come.. The required rate just above 4... U never know what wud have happend!!!


S.G : Ok, now about Indian batting in the morning, is ur favourite player " Sourav Ganguly " is still fit to play one day cricket?


G.B : This is tough to say by comparing today's duck in the conditions thats unfavourable to bat... Also I feel no other batsmen except Sachin tendulkar & Yuvraj batted well... Their partnership helped India to this total atleast... Also Sourav got a beautiful ton in the test against Windies in different condition... So batting in this pitch is really going to be tough unless u are master in it!!


S.G : About Windies bowling?

G.B : Collymore & Banks were outstanding!!! Smith though took four wickets i was not convinced with his line he bowled.


S.G : Were Indian Bowlers were accurate in their line?


G.B : No..Notat all..


S.G : :laugh

G.B : Actually i was impressed by none... becos bolwers except Pathan did not even try to move the ball....

Munnaf & Sreesanth were bowling straight and doesnt even bothered to try swinging it.. Sreesanth was bowling little ruuubish in using the more pace.. U are well aware of the pitch but trying to use the pace is absolutely ruubbish!! Also Agarkar, Ohhh..only he knows what was he trying to do..Ganguly wud have bowled better than him!!! Harbhajan started of well but again failed to utilise the good start and was bowling some ruubbish line that allowed many runs before the play suspened!!!

S.G : yes, Pathan was actually trying to move the ball but recieved severe treatments from Gayle & Chanderpaul..But inspit of that, he was trying to move the ball away from left handers... He bolwed 95% of his spell against left handed batsmen.. I guess Chanderpaul let the confidence of Pathan down!!!

G.B : There you can see, he was trying to pitch on the line and swing away by which he took lara's wicket, but ended with most of the deliveries offering more width to the batsmen... Thats why Chanderpaul played confidently against Pathan as he was able to trace the movement right and play accordingly!!

S.G : So Indian bowlers could have done in better way.. becos, inspite of loosing 5 wickets, Windies score was higher than the required one by D/L method!!!

G.B : I think you can put in this way, " windies outsmarted Indian bowlers "

S.G : Now we have some more segments in this show.. The first segment is " Star Sports Master Blaster "

Well Chanderpaul, Yuvraj , Gayle played well but one man almost dominated throughout the 50 0vers... its none other than Sachin Tendulkar, Star Sports Master Blaster of the day!!!

STAR SPORTS MASTER BLASTER ---- Sachin Tendulkar ( 130 )

S.G : He played magnficently for his 130 and other great thing about him in this match is the confidence he had throughout the inings.... There were wickets falling in one end, catches were dropped but he did not seem to struggle even a bit through out!!! He did a great job in batting but unfortunately he ended in loosing side!!! what to do u think Geoffrey?

G.B : well, only sentence to describe him, " Simply Outstanding !!!" :hpraise

S.G : Now we are moving to the ICICI Safe Hands of today's match.....

Well not there were some good catches from windies like Sachin's & Dhoni's dismissal but our choice of safe hands is the dismisal of Gayle. Great catch taken by Yuvraj Singh!!!

G.B : I still remember that catch..Chris Gayle hit that very firmly and the ball was just passing over Yuvraj's head... & yuvraj made a great timing in jump and maged to get hold of that!! It was an fantastic catch!!!

S.G : yup, Yuvraj is one of the great fielder in Indian side!!!

S.G : Now we move on to , Super Moment of the Day well Geoffrey what do u think as a super moment of the whole day?

G.B : I will definitely go for rain spoiling the climax!!

S.G : Not that one though rain played an vital role.... But one thing that accelerated the Windies score card through out was the magnificent innings by Chanderpaul.... Gayle also slowed down in one moment but this man never stopped till he returned to pavilion... The confidence that initiated Chanderpaul to go over the bowling was Three consecutive Fours in first three balls of Pathan..Thats our Super moment of the day!!!

R.S : Welcome back to the Presentation ceremony of the second match of The DLF cup between India & WestIndies.... What a exciting game it was as u all know & West Indies have won by Duckworth-Lewis method due to the interruption of rain after 30th over.

R.S : So now , can I have few words from the loosing Captain, Mr.Dravid Please...

R.S : Well Dravid, Tough luck today, what do generally think of today?

Well, the game was going in a balanced way right from the start.. Sachin was firing from one end, wickets falling in other end.. In Windies innings also our boys were able to pick the major wicktes... but unfortunately we were not able to know the result if the game have been played full..Since its a ODI, the game might have gone in both the ways... Totaly it was good cricket till the rain interrupted

R.S : About Indian batting this morning?

Well, Windies bowlers did a great job & Sachin played outstandingly well....We need to imrove a lot in batting department.... Batsmen like Sourav,Viru & dhoni shd be slightly triggered off by some good knocks... So we are learning from the mistakes every game!!

R.S : About bowling? no bowlers seem to be in tight line & length?

Actually Pathan,Munaf,Sreesanth & Ajit did their level best but they played well and also batsmen like Gayle & Chanderpaul were watchful!!! I feel now that four fast bowlers in these kind of situations did not suit today!!! We need to discuss this with our coach later before next match and hope evrything gets sorted out soon!!!

Thanx Ravi, yeah, it was an exciting match today.. We were happy tht we were accelerating the score evry over that has helped us becos of D/L rule... But as Rahul said, if we would have played fully, the match wud have gone in anyways as its OneDay cricket!!! Overall it was a good cricket from both the teams!!!

R.S : You have got two consecutive victories now... so any thoughts about finals?

well Ravi, still one more round to go and anything can happen... We are trying our level best...So there is no idea about the finals at this stage!!! We will try to keep this good form going!!!

R.S : About ur team performance especially Chanderpaul?

Yeah, Chanderpaul performed magnificently today.. Also credits goes to our coach for spending major part of time with Chanderpaul... Also the entire team performed well though we need to improve still as the mistakes are to be learnt everyday...

R.S : About Sachin's batting ?

Played well.... But that is Tendulkar for u.... Troubling the bowlers well

Thanx ravi, yeah i enjoyed the battin very much.. but the ball was not that easily coming on to the bat but the fast deliveries were coming on nicely... so just watched the ball and played as much as i could....But once the batsman settles, its bit easier than facing it fresh!!!

R.S : Unfortunately u end in loosing side..any thoughts about it?

Yes actually worried a bit.. But the full game wasn't played.... Hope there are no weather interruptions like this in rest of the games..... Windies players did a good job of accelerating the scorecard that helped them in last!!!

R.S : About the next game against Aussies?

Australia is one of the best teams and they also lost the last game so its going to be important for both the teams.. we will try our level best and lets see what happens!!!
