230 is a winning total . Nice work by Lankans also Maharoof needs a rigcage X-Ray now :p
Hey u are posting updates quickly i keep missing a few.:p also now as per the rule there should not be scores in the thread title so we always have to come in the thread to check he updates. :(

But i like coming here and checking updates in this thread anytime :) will take care that i wont miss the updates ;)

His pace was a bit too much to handle for the Lankans.

( A Short Chat between Bond & RaviShastri )

R.S Hello, Good evening and welcome to the Innings Break of the NZ-SL match from Jaipur. SriLanka have set an target of 230 which seems to be challenging on this track. We have with us, Magician of Today so far, Shane Bond! He was the bowler who threatened Lankans whenever he had the ball in his hands. Lets have few words from him!

R.S : Well, Bond, It was really impressive to see you bowling like that... How did u enjoy bowling in this track?

bomdspeakstg3.jpg

S.Bond : yeah, i enjoyed a lots today and infact it seemed similar to the tracks we have in NewZealand. So i was feeling some familiarity while bowling and totally enjoyed each and every ball. :)

R.S : Also u seem to trouble the batsmen's ribcage so ofte especially Mahroof in the last spell ;) Was it ur favourite area to bowl? :p

S.Bond : :) Well No, I was trying for some bouncers hoping to get an edge from batsmen but unfortunately it landed on ribcage. Also i spoke to Mahroof and he seemed ok now!

R.S : Do u believe that the pitch offers same assistance even under lights?

S.Bond : I guess it does. Through out the 50 Overs, it had been helping the pace bowlers with good pace and movement. Dew factor might slow the things a bit... So atleast bowlers wud be getting assistance from the bew ball i guess!

R.S : You being the fast bowler and also now u have idea abt this pitch conditions too... So what wud be the opinion/view/advice to ur teammates to reach the target?

S.Bond : If our batsmen play watchful enough to judge the movement of the ball properly, then that wud do to reach the target. Jayasuriya from Lankan team was very watchful today and hence he was able to score runs freely later!

R.S : Also, how did you find bowling to Sanath today?

S.Bond : Actually, he was in control though there were few chances! But i was mainly concentrating on my line irrespective of the batsmen who was facing!

R.S : One Last question, Which was ur favourite wicket today?

S.Bond : All the three wickets were important but most favourite was getting rid of Sanath as he was going on nicely when i came to bowl the second spell... & getting rid of him in very first over of second spell was nice! :)

R.S : Thanx Bond for spending time here.. that too u must be tired i guess after bowling ten impressive overs :D Thanx again and Good Luck in future games!

S.Bond : Thanx and no probs Ravi! :)

R.S : So thats all we have from Innings Break here. We will be right back again to catch all the actions LIVE for the NewZealand Innings to see how they respond to SriLankan total! Stay Tuned!

Shocking Start For NewZealand

( Malinga Strikes with the Crucial Wicket )

flemingoutcd4.jpg

NewZealand Openers, Fleming and Astle arrived at the crease to chase the target of 230 that looks possible but still seems to be tough on this wicket.

As expected, Lankan bowlers had a great start! Vaas was very tight in his line in the first over that made Fleming to struggle against the movement of the ball. It ended as a maiden over!

Malinga shared the new ball with Vaas and Astle got single immediately and gave strike Fleming! Fleming, in the first delivery of Malinga, tried to play an simple cover drive but unluckily the ball travelled in air towards the Lankan skipper. Jayawardena did not find it difficult to take an simple catch. So it was Lankan skipper taking an easy catch to dismiss NZ skipper!

Malinga was excited to strike early and the entire Lankan team celebrated this huge wicket! Fleming was not happy though for contributing nothing to the team's score! He made his way back to the dressing with disappointment!
M.Sinclair replaces Fleming at the crease under pressure! Well, its a great start for SriLanka to strike very early!

In Lankan's point of view, they need some more wickets within 15 overs to stay in this game!

In NZ point of view, all they need is one good partnership for which they need to be watchful!

NewZealand :- 2/1(2)
Astle : 1*(3)
Sinclair : 1*(2)

S.Fleming : 0(7) Dismissed by Malinga.

Pitch Troubles Kiwis Too!

( Three wickets in Consecutive Overs (2,3,4) )

With Already Fleming being dismissed in the second over which was bowled by Malinga, Lankan skipper had an attacking field set for both Astle & Sinclair. The worst thing for Kiwis is, Top order for NZ miserably failed!

Sinclair, First Victim of Vaas!
( But the Replay Showed Its Not Out )

sinclairoutiw1.jpg

Vaas was bowling the third over of the innings ( i.e his second over ). He was getting the line and length perfectly and also there was a natural movement of the ball which troubled the batsmen more!

In one of the deliveries of Vaas, Sinclair tried an ordinary leg glance but the ball went in air for little distance.... Suddenly Muralitharan made a huge dive in front and managed to hold the ball but while he holding the ball, the ball looked touching the ground in the replay!

Murali was unaware of it as he simply started running towards Vaas after catching it... Sinclair was also unaware as he started walking back to the dressing room with disappointment! But the replay in kiwi dressing room must have definitely hurt them as its a crucial wicket in crucial game!

But its all over, and there seemed to be mo redecision from the umpires and Marshall replaced Sinclair at the crease! NewZealand having lost two early wickets are now in feep trouble.

Astle Joined Sinclair in Next Over!

astleoutvp5.jpg

Malinga seems to be SriLankan's Bond atm :D He was bowling with great pace and getting the good movement of the ball at the same time. Batsmen were completely unfortable with Lankan bowlers.

This movement actually helped in Astle's wicket. He bowed an good length ball with quick pace and got the movement marginially ( Very marginally ) to swing away from the right handed Astle who was looking to play an ordinary stroke. This resulted in ball missing the bat narrowly and it striked the stumps. This was the huge blow as Astle have the tendency to score quickly!

Malinga was delighted and the entire Lankan team was celebrating with huge joy to get three crucial wickets that too in first five overs! Astle cannot belive his own dismissal and returned to pavilion nodding his head with dissatisfaction! well, NZ dressing room which was filled with happiness in the first session, is now filled with disappointments and tension! Lankan fans are also jumping from their seats for having a wonderful start in bowling!

This has been a poor display from Kiwi Top order. All the three departed within first five overs and that too NZ score hasn't even reached double figures! Some Magical innings is required from someone to save Kiwis!

NewZealand :- 6/3(5)
Marshall : 1*(6)
Styris : 1*(5)

Astle : 2(7) Dismissed by Malinga
Sinclair : 2(5) Dismissed by Vaas
S.Fleming : 0(7) Dismissed by Malinga.

Hmm I thought gamer's comments were a bit premature, but now I do think SL will win this one.

The Asian teams who struggled in the real competition are looking good here.

6/3  SL are on top .
Hmm i guess Chaminda Vaas might be fined a few % of his match fee as he pointed Sinclair the way back to the pavilion:p ( see the 1st screen)

NewZealand Coming Back Into The Game!

( No Wickets Lost for Last 15 Overs )

marsstyrbm2.jpg

With shocking start for Kiwis, Marshall and Styris both decided to wait patiently for the bad deliveries. Their intention of not throwing away the wicket was clear, though Marshall tried to accelerate the scorecard to some extent but Styris remained patient!

Marshall after taking time to settle down, played some excellent shots like in both legside and offside. But both these batsmen never tried to free their arms going for silly shots. This watchfullness made them to settle down. Styris, in particular, played the ball only when he was confident in it!

Muralitharan, Mahroof & Zoysa were shuffled after the 11Overs spell from Vaas and Malinga! Bowlers were trying to create opportunities but batsmen are now watchful enough to overcome those. Huge pressure seemed to exist when Murali was introduced, as he had an attacking field of a slip & two silly points but both maintained their cool tempo to continue the innings!

With the steady batting from Marshall and Styris, partnership between these two had gone past 50 & finally some tension is relieved from Kiwi dressing though a long way is still there to travel!

Some More Chances!

fieldactionsdc3.jpg

There were couple of half chances for SriLanka to produce the wicket but luck was in NewZealand's favour!

Styris LBW shout:-
Zoysa was bowling to Styris. He just moved the ball in towards the batsmen and Styris was trapped for a LBW and there was a huge shout from the bowlers and keeper. Umpire remained unmoved! But the replay showed that it was close enough which ended in the benefit of the batsmen. Styris gave a huge sigh of relief after watching umpire's decision!

RunOut Chance:- In the same over, there was a run out chance created becos of the hesitation between Styris and Marshall. The ball was hit to the boundary fielder but Styris ran the first run very hard and called Marshall for second run who hesitated for a second but in the end,Marshall was quick enough to reach the crease by making a huge dive in front even before the bails were removed!

Well, Twenty overs ended and this pair is looking solid with 70 runs partnership. Also the required rate has increased from the original one but comparing to the initial five overs of Kiwis, these two batsmen ( Styris & Marshall ) have done a good job for not throwing away the wickets!

NewZealand :- 74/3(20)
Marshall : 38*(56)
Styris : 24*(45)

Required Run Rate : 5.20/Over
Partnership : 70 Runs
