India In England

India Vs England
Natwest Series 2010
Second Test Match : India Vs England
Live From Lord's

Nice start for India!

FRAME1-15.jpg

So the Indian openers came to bat. With 1 up in the series there was less pressure on Indian's but England too forgot the past and concentrated on the present. England bowlers bowled very well in the starting Sehwag was not able to play big strokes and it seemed that Sehwag is not in his best form.

As soon as Sehwag reached double figures he suddenly got some form. After all he made hundred in the last match and it was obvious that he will soon feel that he is in touch. After that it was all Sehwag Sehwag and Sehwag!!! Gambhir did well to rotate the strike as always. He knew that his job is to give as much strike to Sehwag as possible because he knew that once Sehwag gets settled he will play a big innings.

It was getting close to the lunch. So Sehwag decided to play some big strokes. Lian Plunkett was brought into the attack and it couldn't have been a worst start for him. Sehwag made sure he doesn't allow Plunkett to settle and hit him all around the park. Sehwag had no respect for Plunkett. Soon Sehwag reached his well made fifty and continued his good form. But after few balls after reaching his fifty he got out. Stuart Broad got the some swing Sehwag tried to push the ball on the straight but got a thick edge and Alastair Cook at slip took a very good catch. Sehwag departed on 54.

After Sehwag dismissal Gambhir started playing few strokes and taking his strokes forward. Gambhir has not been in a great form but in this match he is getting some form. On other hand Dravid started off in his typical fashion. He is trying to get settle in the middle would he be able to play a big innings? No one knows lets see after the lunch.

India continue their good performance after lunch!

FRAME1-16.jpg
Sachin Tendulkar's dismissal Hawk-Eye view

So Gambhir and Dravid came to bat after lunch. Intension's were clear Dravid rotated the strike and Gambhir paced-off his innings well and got to his well deserved fifty. As we know he was in very bad form yesterday but was not able to really find any sort of form but in this match he is playing very well and maybe a century is around the corner. As soon as Gambhir got to his half century suddenly he changed his game same as Dravid. They both changed their intension's Dravid paced-off his innings and Gambhir rotated the strike. That surely showed that Indians discussed a plan in lunch interval.

3 quick wickets taken by England!

FRAME2-7.jpg

After Dravid deciding to play faster he soon got to his fifty. In an over of Stuart Broad Gambhir had a fight with him. What happened was Gambhir played a great stroke for four, Broad came closer to him and said few words. Umpires Simon Taufel then came between them and sorted out the fight. In next over James Anderson was pumped up and got wicket of Rahul Dravid. Even Dravid was not able to play big innings and got out after few minutes of making his fifty. In the very next over Stuart Broad got two crucial wickets of Tendulkar and Laxman.

TENDULKAR-DISMISSAL.gif
Sachin Tendulkar's dismissal Hawk-Eye view

Cook took great catch at slip and it seems he has had good day in the fielding department. India suddenly find them self in pressure and after half an hour it was time for players to get back to pavilion for Tea. Now the question is can Gambhir and Kohli play well and help India to make a big score? Lets see after Tea.

Gambhir out after playing a good knock!!!

FRAME1-20.jpg

So Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir with the on-field umpires,Rudi Koertzen and Simon Taufel and England team went to the field to play the last session of Day 1 play. Gambhir was on 99 and wasted no time whatsoever to reach to his century. First ball he played after lunch he smashed it for four on the off side and reached to his well made century. :happy :banana2 After reaching to his century Gambhir started giving strike regularly to Kohli because Kohli settling in the middle was important for India. Kohli's running was good from the starting of his innings and we should not forget he was making his debut. Just when Kohli was looking settled in the middle with Gambhir. Gambhir lost his wicket. Gambhir was trying to push the ball on off side but Strauss was there and took the catch. Maybe this was the tactic from England which they would have planned in the Tea break.

India loosing some crucial wickets after Gambhir's dismissal!!!

FRAME2-11.jpg

So after Gambhir wicket India lost one more important wicket of Virat Kohli... Kohli was smashing the ball on straight but got some edge on the ball and it went straight in the air and again the England captain took a good catch. So India lost two settled batsmen wickets. There were some expectations from Harbhajan but even he was not able to deliver from the bat and lost his wicket for a duck. Zaheer Khan tried well to stay in the middle with Dhoni. In the mean time Dhoni was taking singles and was hitting some boundaries as well. With just few minutes left for the end of day 1 India lost another wicket of Zaheer Khan. Next batsmen was Ishant who is certainly not known for his batting. :p So after Zaheer Wicket Dhoni decided to play big strokes and he did that well and after few minutes Umpire,Simon Taufel said common guys time to end day 1,back to pavilion.

STUMPSDAY1.jpg
Stumps Day 1,A good day for both the teams

MS.Dhoni : 30*(42)
I.Sharma : 5*(8)

Last Wicket : Z.Khan : 13(26)

Finally updated in two weeks!
Adi, the content is good but at some places , there are many grammatical errors. You can correct those.:)
Plus some of the images haven't been resized properly. They look stretched. The Tendulkar hawk eye needs to be improved.

Good luck for next update:thumbs

Cheers mate. Now i have decided not too post past update with a fresh new update because it often creates confusion in mind. I mean if there is any grammatical error in the past update it seems that there are grammatical mistakes in fresh updates as well and as far as mistakes are concern i would surely try to improve on it in the next updates. :)

I realized today that i have not posted full year schedule of India touring. So i will do that soon after the second test ends. Also i have decided to post the matches which are being held between rest of the icc main teams for ex Aus vs NZ. So that when India tours that country readers can know how have they played this year so far and can India beat them or not. :)

Hey mate image link broken!!

Mihir Doshi added 1 Minutes and 19 Seconds later...

Also some good piece of writing there

Australia in New Zealand

So just one year left before the 2011 world cup. Australia will start 2010 with touring New Zealand, for Chapple Hadlee trophy they will play 2 t20's 5 odi's and 2 tests in New Zealand. Australia have been performing sensationally well in the past and this tour could be a good one for them to start the new year with some wins but we can never under reestimate team like New Zealand. We have often seen in past that New Zealand have beaten some good teams. So it wont be so easy for Australia to take Chapple Hadlee trophy to their home. Both the teams announced their 15 men squad for the two t20's. Squad as follows

Australia
David Warner
Shane Watson
Michael Clarke(C)
Cameron White
David Hussey
Mike Hussey(VC)
Brad Haddin(WK)
Mitchell Johnson
Nathan Hauritz
Shaun Tait
Brett Lee
Peter Siddle
Tim Paine
Shaun Marsh
Steven Smith

New Zealand
Kane Williamson
Brendon McCullum
Aaron Redmond
Matthew Sinclair
Ross Taylor
Scott Styris
Gareth Hopkins(WK)
Daniel Vettori(C)
Tim Southee
Daryll Tuffey
Shane Bond
Peter Fulton
Jamie How
Martin Guptill
Jeetan Patel

So as we can see both sides are extremely strong. Australia have new and young players but after all this is t20 and in t20 you need fit and active players. New Zealand side has few players who have played for them in past but because of them not maintaining their good form for very long they were out of the side for while. Now they are back after performing very well in the domestic circuit. One has to agree that this series is going to be an really exciting one. Lets see what happens, coming up next on Sky Sport New Zealand,Cricket show for the 1st t20 match between New Zealand vs Australia.

Welcome our viewers to sky sports studio's for the first t20 match between New Zealand and Australia. It would be an awesome match that's sure,i have with me in the studio's Craig Mcmillian.

SIMONDOULL.png
So Craig what are your thoughts about today's match?

CRAIGMCCMILLIAN.png
As you said Simon it would be a great match surely. Australia have been performing very well but on other hand New Zealand have got their main players back from ICL like Tuffey,Bond and others. Chapple Hadlee trophy is always great to watch, last time when it was played i was in New Zealand side but now the situations is different. Hoping for a good performance from New Zealand side.

SIMONDOULL.png
Yeh,That's true plus New Zealand side had Chris Cairns as well so this time the situation is completely different. Now lets talk about today's match.

SIMONDOULL.png
Before we go any further Chris Harris is down the strayer's with a player from New Zealand side.

CHRISHARRIS.png
Right Simon,I have with me important batsmen from New Zealand side none other than Brendon McCullum.

CHRISHARRIS.png
So Brendon ready for today's match. You are a main batsmen from New Zealand side and a big innings from you is certainly hoped by every New Zealand cricket fan.

BRENDONMCCULLUM.png
Yes mate i have to make some runs today. If we want to to beat Australia we will need to give our more than 100 percent then only we can win or else we have no chance to win against Australia.

CHRISHARRIS.png
That's true. You had a look at the pitch your thoughts about it.

BRENDONMCCULLUM.png
Yes i just had a look at the pitch and its a batting paradise. A score around 180 to 190 will be good at this pitch. Pitch wont change much till the end of the match so if we bat second we wont loose hopes of winning.

CHRISHARRIS.png
OK mate,Thanks for talking to us and best of luck for the match.

BRENDONMCCULLUM.png
Thanks mate,Cheers!!!

CHRISHARRIS.png
Back to the studio's.

SIMONDOULL.png
Thanks for the interview Chris. Now its time to head away to Jeremy Coney for the pitch report and then Chris Harris again for the all important toss.

Pitch Report

PITCHREPORT-3.jpg

I just had a look at the surface and its a great one. Its hard and dry as well. Bit of grass for the bowlers. Any score of around 180 to 200 would be good on this surface. Overhead conditions are good and no chance of rain today so we will have full 20 overs. Batsmen like Shane Watson can be handy on this surface, some big sixes could be expected today.. Brendon McCullum will be a key player on this surface. So whoever bats first will have to take this in his mind that his team needs to score around 180. Now its time to head away to Chris Harris for the important toss.

Toss with Chris Harris

CHRISHARRIS.png
Auckland are you ready for this crucial match???

Crowd Response : Yeah!!!! We are!!!!! Common ROCK N ROLL!!!! :banana2

CHRISHARRIS.png
Much to the delight! I have with me men who matter Michael Clarke,Australian team captain and Daniel Vettori New Zealand team captain.

CHRISHARRIS.png
Vettori has the coin,he will toss it in the air...Michael Clarke to call and he calls tails.... and it is tails...

CHRISHARRIS.png
So Michael what would you like to do on this surface batting or bowling???

MICHAELCLARKE-1.png
We would bat first Chris. This surface looks to me a great surface for batting.

CHRISHARRIS.png
What sort of total have you guys planned in team meeting???

MICHAELCLARKE-1.png
Any score of around 180 would be good on this surface. If Brendon McCullum gets going for New Zealand 180 will turn into a very low score.

CHRISHARRIS.png
Ha Ha,Yeh! Indeed true. Best of luck for the match mate.

MICHAELCLARKE-1.png
Thanks a lot!

CHRISHARRIS.png
Now its time to have few words with New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori.

CHRISHARRIS.png
So Vettori what would have you done if you would have won the toss?

DANIELVETTORI.png
We would have bowled only Chris. We don't think this pitch will change much till the end of the match so if we possibly restrict Australia to a score of 150 to 160 then we can win this match.

CHRISHARRIS.png
Yeh,Are all the players in your team fit? This is a main series and you will need all your main players to perform.

DANIELVETTORI.png
Yes,All of them are fit enough to play... That's the main reason we think we can win this match.

CHRISHARRIS.png
OK mate and best of luck for the match.

DANIELVETTORI.png
Thanks,Cheers!

CHRISHARRIS.png
Back to the studio's.

SIMONDOULL.png
Thanks for the pitch report Jeremy and Chris for the toss. Interesting Australia batting first tough task for New Zealand Mcmillian?

CRAIGMCCMILLIAN.png
Indeed tough Simon. They will need to restrict them to a total of 140 to 150 or else it will be tough for them to win.

SIMONDOULL.png
Now lets have a look at the line-ups of the both teams.

TEAMLINE-UPS.jpg

SIMONDOULL.png
Your thoughts on the line-ups Mcmillian.

CRAIGMCCMILLIAN.png
Both the side look strong. New Zealand have got back some brilliant players. Like How who has been performing sensationally well in the domestic circuit,Bond has been bowling very well,Redmond again in brilliant forum so overall impressed with New Zealand side there. Australia as usual are looking strong. Top order is looking really strong as is middle order. They have got some very good bowlers,oh my god! I are sure that we are going to have a cracking of a match...

SIMONDOULL.png
That's true. Now lets have a look at match conditions.
