So after Indian team making a big score in the first innings. It was time for Durham to make some runs. As we know Indian bowling attack has not been at their very best in the past so can this match change it all?
Good start for both the teams
Wickets for India as well as few boundaries for Durham.
Soon umpires,Indian team and Durham opening batsmens came to the field to start the first innings of Durham batting. Dhoni gave the new ball to Zaheer Khan the experienced lad in the team. Durham captain Venuto marked his guard and was ready to play the first ball...... Durham started their chase with a run rate of just 2.45. Some people thought that new ball will be given to Harbhajan Singh. But no,Dhoni gave new ball to S.Sreesanth although we have to agree that Sreesanth has been in and out of the team but then also his pace and aggression really frustrates the batsmens. David Warner then soon played a good straight drive for four and got off the mark. Than the captain of Durham too started smashing few strokes. But than Sreesanth soon got rid of Warner. Sreesanth bowled a slow bowl and surprisingly got some bounce David Warner expected ball to be fast and on the off side but ball swing in and kissed top of the off stump David Warner was in shock and he departed for just 4. Next batsmen was West Indies main batsmen these days Shivraj Chanderpaul. After Chanderpaul came into the crease Durham captain,Venuto started playing some strokes. Chanderpaul on other hand was striking bad balls away easily. It seemed that this partnership will go a long way. Because both the players were continuing to put bad balls away. In an over of Zaheer Khan Venuto played bowl on the leg side and called for single Chanderpaul hesitated a bit and than ran,fielder th rowed the ball to the keeper in no time and MS Dhoni,Indian captain easily hit the stumps with ball in hand and got rid of Shivraj Chanderpaul. Chandepaul made long walk back to pavilion with shacking his head and Indians were back in the game.

Some wickets for India but Durham captains made sure his team reaches a respectable total
After Chanderpaul getting out the next batsmen was Collingwood. When Collingwood was making his way to the middle there was a huge roar from Durham crowd. But he was not their for long enough. He just faced two balls and the third ball he faced he smashed it on the off side and fielder some how managed to stop the ball and throw the ball at the stumps and it was direct hit. Sadly for Durham crowd their favorite player Collingwood departed for a duck. Another wicket for India. :happy :banana2 But on other hand Durham captain,Venuto was hitting boundaries as well as he was taking singles. The sad thing was no one was staying at the crease with him. Soon Venuto reached his fifty and Durham crowd roar really loudly. After Collingwood dismissal next batsmen who came to the crease was Dale Benkenstein. He faced 13 balls and all thought that he will be the man who will stay with the captain and will play a big innings. But he wasn't he was also run out and Durham captain,Venuto had no clue whats the next step he should take.
Durham all out for just 141.
Wickets and Wickets!
After Benkenstein wicket next batsmen was Ian Blackwell. People again had hopes from Blackwell. But just after playing 4 balls Blackwell was on non strikers end. Venuto played a straight drive and Blackwell called for a single and Venuto started running but when he reached half of the pitch he went back and said no. Blackwell tried to get back to non strikers end but was unfortunately run out. So yet another wicket for India. :happy One thing which was quite shocking was that Blackwell was the third continues player in the line-up who got out on 0 and except Warner dismissal rest all dismissal so far were run outs. People hoped that there will be some recovery but there wasn't any sort of recovery. Next batsmen Mustard got out on 4 although Coetzer made 10 runs but that was not enough. Harmison tried to stay in the middle but got edge of his bat and was dismissed. Seeing all this captain also loosed his concentration and gave away his wicket and his century. Indian were just delighted seeing all this. :happy Rest two batsmen Davies and Onions also departed for a small score and Durham collapsed for just 141. Than it was time for Dhoni to decide wherever he wants to give follow on or want to bat in second innings. Dhoni decided to follow on Durham. With all this it was end of day 1. What a day it was India declaring their innings and getting all Durham batting line up out on 141. Now lets have a look at Durham Batting scorecard and Indian bowling card.

Durham starting well!
So after Dhoni deciding to give Durham follow on. Durham opening batsmen,Warner and Venuto came to bat. Dhoni set a attacking field against them he had 3 slips in the position. So it all started for Durham in a good way. They started of slowly but than Warner decided to take on the attack. He played some attacking strokes on the leg side. After few minutes their run rate was close to 4.00 runs per over and Indian bowlers were getting clueless. Then Dhoni used his brain and introduced Harbhajan into the attack. Dhoni saw that Warner is getting very attacking and he is playing way too much on front foot. He didn't said anything to Harbhajan till he bowled two very expensive overs. Very soon 50 runs opening stand came and Dhoni with Sachin went to Harbhajan and gave him some advice. Harbhajan than after the advice bowled a full flight bowl to Warner and he tried to put it away but it was straight to the fielder,Yuvraj. Then the very next ball got rid of him. Harbhajan bowled a good length delivery and forced batsmen to play at it and what Warner did was he came on front foot and tried to smash it on off side and hence was bowled.
Some wickets and India starting to build pressure
Next batsmen was Chanderpaul. He played a good knock in the first innings but was eventually run out and in this innings he was run out too. After playing just two balls Chanderpaul thought to take a single but ball went to fielder so fast that it was an easy run out and Chanderpaul again shacking his head gone to pavilion this time for 0. Next batsmen was Collingwood. He started of his innings in his typical way putting bad balls away for boundaries and taking singles on the good balls. After few overs India were again in bit of pressure their lead was getting reduced and day was passing away. Match still had 2 and half days but than also India needed to win without playing in second innings. Dhoni thought that pitch has quite a bit of swing and giving ball to Sudeep Tyagi would not be a bad idea. Sudeep Tyagi came to bowl and straight away he was taken to pressure first Collingwood hit him for 2 boundaries and than Venuto hit him for one boundary. It was last ball of his over Dhoni came running to him and said something. He came in running very fast and Venuto playing a premeditated stroke got bowled. Actually what Venuto tried to do was sweeping on the leg side for boundary. But what Sudeep Tyagi did was he bowled very slow ball and it got rid of Durham captain. India were back in the game.
Finally a partnership building.
Benkenstein was the next batsmen. He was in a mindset to play a big innings. He started his batting defensively but after few minutes he changed his batting completely and played some delightful strokes with Collingwood. There were shorts on leg side,off side,Straight in other words all around the park. There was a moment in which Dhoni was very aggressive on Harbhajan but some how he controlled his aggression. Collingwood and Benkenstein were playing very well. They were not allowing any bowler to settle down and Dhoni was frustrated and again and again he was thinking how to break this partnership. After few minutes Collingwood reached his well played half century.
More wickets but Collingwood managing to stay at the middle
After making his fifty Collingwood started taking many singles and avoided hitting boundaries. On other hand Benkenstein didn't changed his batting and was playing very attacking cricket. Dhoni gone to Harbhajan and very seriously said him few words Harbhajan expressions were telling as if he is agreeing with Dhoni whatever he is saying. Harbhajan bowled a full length delivery Benkenstein tried to push it to 3rd man but ball suddenly turned and got rid of him. He was amazed and gone to pavilion by looking at Harbhajan very aggressively. Next batsmen was Blackwell but he was just able to stay for 10 deliveries at the middle. He got two boundaries in his 8 of 10 balls but Zaheer Khan got rid of him by a good ball but we have to appreciate Harbhajan too for his sensational catch. Then soon after Blackwell dismissal Mustard followed him to pavilion very next over.
India won the match by an innings and 3 runs
Paul Collingwood after Blackwell and Mustard dismissal started playing attacking and got many runs. But he was getting out of partners at other end. He smashed couple of fours and soon reached his very well played century. After his century there was not a single person who stayed with him at the middle. Last five batsmen in the team collapsed very badly and Durham were all out on just 209 in this innings. We have to say their batting was not at their best. Although good news for England is Collingwood got a century and that will surely boost his confidence. So the news is India have won this match by an innings and 3 runs. Venuto: Yes i am happy with my team bowling. They bowled pretty well against a strong Indian side.

Dhoni: Yes,A really good victory for us. The start of the series could not have been better then this for us.
MN: Harbhajan Singh bowled very very well today and all of our batsmen were in great form. Not taking anything away from your bowlers they bowled very well too. Your thoughts?
Dhoni: Yes indeed all of our team players performed very well in this match. Now the main task will start after two days when we will play first test match against England.

Harbhajan: Yes,Good start for me in the series. Hopefully i will take few wickets against England too. Thats the main job i have in my hands.

Harbhajan: I don't have any special plans against England side. Although i did bowled well against Collingwood today so that will surely give me some confidence.

I guess there would be nothing called man of the match awards for practice games. Btw, good quality update. And your grammer needs to improve a bit. And how does divo congratulate india for winning natwest series when the actual series is not yet started.
Lol. You wrote 'congratulations India for winning this match and upcoming series with england'. Which means that India won the upcoming natwest series:laugh. I guess you wanted divo to wish India good luck, which you need to addp.
Yesterday night Andrew Strauss had a really small press confrence. In that he told that sadly their 3 players have been injured and they are Joe Denly,Ryan Sidebottom and Adil Rashid. He said its a major blow for the team to lost three players in such a quick time. He said that the replacements for the players will be Matthew Hoggard,Ravi Bopara and Luke Wright. As we know after Andrew Flintoff announcing his retirement England needed a good all-rounder for their side and Wright can well and trully do that for England. Strauss also said that except these three players who have been injured rest all the team is fit and ready to play against strong side like India.... He also commented on Collingwood form by saying 'He is one of our crucial players and if he is in a good form it always helps us to make our middle order strong and win matches also his bowling really comes handy at crucial times.'
That was it from his press confrence. I guess the three players who have come into the England side will really make their side strong. Specially Hoggard his pace and aggression is well known by each and everyone of us. Lets see what they'll be able to do.
