India Appoint New Boss!

india.gif

India, home to over 1 billion people and home to one of the great cricketing nations. However, with Australia dominating over the past 12 years or so and with no signs of stopping India having taken drastic action. A change of Management. Unkown journalist James Edmonds has been appointed Manager of India and considering he can't speak any language but English, he may have some trouble! He will start wth a tour against West Indies in which he is expected to name his team shortly. He has a great track record and has been a big hit with the players and the fans already. Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and other players have all been reported to have be relishing the oppurtunity to play under a future legend. Could this be the final piece in the jigsaw allowing India to take the top spot away from Australia?

Tune in to find out.

Great start Jaz. Glad to see you are starting this story. :)
Just 1 suggestion, the colour is a bit to bright. Make it darker.
Otherwise best of luck mate.

Interesting stuff, might want to darken the font a tad though;)

I thought you would be doing this on Cricket 2005. :(

I was going to do but my patience isn't as good as everyone elses when it comes to playing 5 day matches...

ICC is still going to make this story great and soon we shall hopefully forget this and get lost in the quality of the story. :)

West Indies Tour Fixtures and Team Named

New manager James Edmonds will start his reign with India against a team who have recently been on the decline; West Indies. The team that has won the World Cup the second most times(2) will host India and their new boss in the hope of getting off 8th place in the ICC World Ratings. Points are to be won for India in the Test Matches though as West Indies beat them 2-1 in 2001. On the One Day side of things they can only raise their difference as India only won 2-1 last time. This time there will be 1 more Test, 2 more ODIS and 0 Twenty20's, unfortunately. India are favourites to win both Series and with the caliber and ability India have, it is hard to argue that India don't hammer West Indies.

30 June 2006 - 4th Test Match
West Indies v India

A strange decision by the WICB to have the One Day Internationals first, not the Tests, which is a first for me. No Twenty20's unfortunately but there are two friendlies against Guyana(One Day) and Barbados(Three Day). The fixture schedule is very close together during the One Day series but when we get to the Tests some players can get their deserved rest after white washing the West Indians. Hopefully. The Indian team to be playing West Indies, was released by James Edmonds earlier today, is a very mixed Indian team:

Sachin Tendulkar(33)
Subramanian Badrinath(25)
Virender Sehwag(27)
Suresh Raina((21)
Chandan Rawat(19)
Subit Biswal(21)
Wasim Jaffer(28)
Rahul Dravid(33)
Vangipurappu Laxman(31)
Mahendra Dhoni(24)
Joginder Sharma(22)
Zaheer Khan(27)
Munaf Patel(22)
Gangandeep Singh(24)
Piyush Chawla(17)
Anil Kumble(35)
Irfan Pathan(21)
Harbhajan Singh(25)

A young Indian team to be honest, average age of 25, can still boast about their experience and of their quality. The golden oldies of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, V.V.S Laxman and Anil Kumble are all expected to lead from the front with their valuable experience. Sehwag, Khan, Jaffer have all played at this level before as well. Surpsingly though, 6 players in the Indian team have never even been called up by India as of yet. Badrinath, Raina, Rawat, Biswal, Sharma and Singh all are hoping to impress coach James Edmonds against West Indies. The West Indian team will be released to the press early next week. At this point in time, it looks like James Edmonds is not only looking to win in the now but he is also getting ready for the future.

Sachin will be key

This is intresting. Indian have liking for foreign coaches. Lets see how new coach handles egos of biggest superstars of cricket and bridge the senior junior divide.

Also looking forward for rise of Chandan Rawat and Subit Biswal.

Best of luck Jazzy. :thumbs

really like it jaz, great to see another quality story being produced
cant wait for it to progress

West Indies Name Team To Face India

Well we finally found out the West Indian team earlier today, the one that is facing the Indians and considering all the criticism it has been gathering in recent weeks it looks like a stronger team than expected. The 17 man West Indian team is:

Chris Gayle(26)
Sherwin Ganga(24)
Shivnarine Chanderpaul(31)
Ramnaresh Sarwan(25)
Brian Lara(37)
Carlton Baugh(23)
Ryan Hinds(25)
Dwayne Bravo(22)
Dwanye Smith(23)
Dave Mohammed(26)
Ryan Nurse(23)
Kerry Jeremy(27)
Amit Jaggernauth(22)
Jermaine Lawson(24)
Jerome Taylor(21)
Corey Collymore(28)
Reon King(30)

Another young Test team, averaging the same age as the Indians of 25. One thing which may go against the West Indians is their incredible ages for their bowlers. Most of them are below the age of 26 and unfortunately none of them have any real experience. Collymore and King both have played 19 tests but bowled poor in the majority of them and the only other bowler to have played in more than 10 tests is Jermaine Lawson. He's played 13 matches got 51 wickets at an average of 29.65, their best bowler. West Indies aren't known for their bowling attack at the moment, more for their batting depth and their batting ability. Brian Lara their main asset averaging 53 from 124 tests and Chanderpaul closing in on his 100th test, averaging 44.82. Alot of their team is for the future but they don't really have the bowling attack to boast as well as their batting attack. We will soon find out though...
