Not a smart move by BCCI by appointing Jazzy boy as their manager :noway Jazzy's previous managerial experience was really bad. Guyana v India

James Edmonds' first match as coach as India will start today as he takes on a mediocre Guyana team. Before the teams were even submitted and shown to the public bookies had already made India favourite in what should be quite an easy encounter whatever team they play. The pitch is a little on the dusty side but it is incredibly flat and should play nicely for the batsmen. A batsman's pitch in my opinion. So who would James Edmonds name in his first ever Indian team? Here is the Indian team:

Biswal
Badrinath
Tendulkar(*)
Dravid
Dhoni(+)
Laxman
Sharma(2)
Kumble
Chwala
Pathan(1)
Khan

A very strong team there opting with the 4 bowlers and 1 all rounder. Chawla and Kumble will add the spinning edge especially Kumble as he has take 502 wickets in his One Day career. Pathan, Khan and Sharma complete the bowling attack as all the bowlers average under 30 for their career OD averages. Pathan to open to bowling has the best average and will be fundamental in the match. Munaf Patel and the two Singh's nearly got in but India want to win but also shove some new guys in there at the same time. Onto the batting and it's a very strong line-up. Biswal and Badrinath both get the chance to open for India whilst the middle order is as strong as it ever is. Tendulkar, Dravid and Laxman have made that middle for so long and now Dhoni is cementing his place too. A very strong all round team posted by India could surely get them the win. Guyana don't have much of a chance against this Indian team...

Ramdass
Arjune
Chanderpaul(*)
Sarwan
Chattergoon
NcGarrell
Griffith
Christian(+)
Nagamootoo
Crandon
King

3 players out of the 11 are in the West Indian 18 man team; Chanderpaul, Sarwan and King. We'll start with the bowling like we did with India and Guyana's isn't the best. An actual decent bowling attack with Crandon, King and Nagamooto all averaging around the 25 mark and could disrupt the dynamics of our batting. Unlikely, but they still could. Their 4th and 5th choice bowlers though average around the 30 mark and shouldn't really cause a threat to India. Their batting lineup is considerably worse than that of India's with only a few players averaging over 30. Sarwan, Chanderpaul and Chattergoon all averaging above 30 and Sarwan averaging 41. Ramdass and Arjune open their batting but both of them are mediocre and shouldn't get alot of runs. The entire match rests on Sarwan and Chanderpaul's shoulders as they experience and ability will be crucial in this match.

Coin Toss

Hello and thank you for joining down here at the Coin Toss. The conditions are quite good for batting today on this flat pitch but with overcast conditions then the medium pacers or slow bowlers could get a bit of an advantage. The bounce on the pitch is even and will give a slight advantage to the batsmen whilst the wear is good, which also slightly helps the batsmen. The outfield is very slow and if going for the boundaries they are going to have to hit it mighty hard! The light, as usual in Guyana, is very good. We should be in for a good game of cricket here today. Sachin Tendulkar makes the toss of heads and... wins! Sachin then decides to bowl on the pitch and take advantage of the conditions so when they come into bat later it should be a tad better.

India Bowl Guyana Out For 178

_39940079_zaheer_gi300x300.jpg

Zaheer Khan after getting Chanderpaul out

The start of the match, the players are out and the umpires are out. Irfan Pathan will be opening the bowling with Joginder Sharma, whilst opening the batting for Guyana will be Ramdass and Arjune. Hopefully we are in store for a belter of a match, and hopefully Guyana can post even a respectable score so we don't have a Indian thrashing.

Opening 10 overs
Well India have had a very bright start as they have got Guyana at 27-2. An opening stand off 14 by Ramdass and Arjune was ended in the 7th over as Arjune was caught by Laxman off Sharma's bowling for 12 off 29 balls. Ramdass then went in the next over after a 11 run partnership of 11 balls with Shivnarine Chanderpaul, getting caught by Dravid this time off Pathan's slow ball. 7 runs his score off 17 balls. In the last over not much happened with Chanderpaul and Sarwan staying in.

20 overs gone
India haven't capitalized on their good start as much as they could of done, only getting the one wicket. 60-3 is their total off 20 overs with Chanderpaul still batting away. The wicket fell in Sharma's over, 12th over, as Dravid got his second catch and Sharma got his second wicket. Chattergoon then came in and hit a four first ball. The batsmen then continued to dominate as Chanderpaul and Chattergoon build a good partnership of 31*. Kumble and Chawla bowled very poorly but hopefully they can pick up their game.

30 overs gone
47 runs off the last 10 overs as Guyana get to 107 for... 4 wickets. Chattergoon the man gone in the 39th over to Zaheer Khan who has bowled brilliantly so far; his offstump went flying. The over before though as Chanderpaul was dropped for 47! Kumble bowled a quick full toss which Shivranine edged straight to Dravid who couldn't hold onto it. If he held onto that I am positive they wouldn't of got 150. McGarrell the man in blocks a few balls as he hasn't got much to do in this 10 over period.

40 overs gone
139 runs, 5 men down. A few overs in and Chanderpaul got his 50, much deserved apart from the near scare when he was dropped by Dravid. He's been carrying the Guyana team single handedly so far. McGarrell didn't last long though and only managed a feeble scored of 10 off 32 balls. Again Zaheer Khan the bowler to get the wicket, his line and length has just been inspirational so far. Chanderpaul and Griffith then held off till the 40th over and with only 10 overs to go they are going to have to bat incredibly well to put up a competitive score.

End of Innings
India bowled incredibly well in the last ten overs to get 5 wickets for a mere 39 runs. Pathan and Khan both picked up 2 with Sharma picking up the other. Pathan picked up the first wicket as Griffith who was trying to increase the run rate went too aggressive and played all around the shot. 20 runs off 23 balls still isn't too bad. Christian came and went for 6 runs(14 balls) as he got bowled as well, this time by Sharma. The biggest wicket of the match came next though as Chanderpaul went for 67. Coming onto the front foot he tried to hit a leg glance but the ball went passed the bat and hit his pads. Plum in front of the wicket. Nagamootoo and Crandon both went without making many changes to the score, Pathan and Khan picking their wickets.

At the end of everything though Guyana had reached 178 and had batted quite poorly bar Chanderpaul, Chattergoon and Griffith. On the bowling side of things we bowled tremendous; our pace bowling anyway. Pathan got 3-37, Sharma got 3-34 but best of all was Zaheer Khan who got 4-40 including Chanderpaul. They all bolwed well in union and as an attack, they were unstoppable. On the other hand, our spin attack was absolutely pathetic. Chawla finished with 0-32 and Kumble finished with 0-31, neither getting a wicket on a spinning pitch. All in all a strange innings on a batsmans pitch that offers little to the spin bowlers and even less to the pacemen, but surely we can get this score?

Guyana 178 all out
Chanderpaul 67 Khan 4-40
Chattergoon 36 Sharma 3-34

India need 179 runs at 3.58 an over

Should be an easy win! :D KUTGW! :)

India Win By 8 Wickets

252726.jpg

Badrinath top scoring with 87*

Well the Indians are out and ready to start their innings. The Indians bowled very well with 3 bowlers in particular impressing whilst the spinners didn't. Khan, Sharma and Pathan all deserve mentions for their bowling whilst only few batsmen deserve a shout. Chanderpaul head and shoulders above the rest scoring 67 but Chattergoon and Griffith. India now need to focus on their batting, get their technique right and then win the game! King and Griffith will open the bowling against Biswal and Badrinath.

Opening 10 overs
India started their innings terribly as in the 4th over Biswal got out for 4 runs off 19 balls. Biswal got caught by Nagamootoo off Kings bowling with India only on 14 runs. 14/1 isn't the best of starts. Sachin Tendulkar then came in and with Badrinath survived till the end of the 10 overs. None of the batsmen have hit a boundary yet and India are taking it too easily. They need to up their batting.

20 overs gone
Finally a boundary comes as Badrinath hits a great cover drive against McGarrell in his first over. Lovely shot. Badrinath and Tendulkar then take the Bowlers to the cleaners with Sachin hitting 4 fours in a row against spinner McGarrell!! Both batsmen continue to up the run rate and complete the next few overs to take them to the 20 over mark. 67 runs off those 10 overs takes the total to 93/1! Absolutely destructive stuff from Badrinath, 48 off 62, and Tendulkar, 38 off 42.

30 overs gone
Badrinath brings up his 50 off 68 balls which included 8 fours. A brilliant half century which should guide us home. Tendulkar always has to go one better though doesn't he? He brings his 50 up off 60 balls including 2 less boundaries. 100 partnership is up! 114/1 off 26 overs and Badrinath and Tendulkar are really finding this easy. In the 29th over they nearly get the breakthrough as they call for a catch behind from Badrinath but the Umpire deems it as no edge. 133/1 the score now and we are going very quickly and really are showing our batting strength here.

40 overs gone
India then start to take it a bit easier and then in the 39th over, with the score on 169/1 they get the breakthrough. Sachin Tendulkar the man out after getting caught LBW by Griffith who has been their best bowler. A macho 80 off 104 balls was tremendous by Sachin but with only 10 runs to get he has to be disappointed. Dravid comes in to face the last ball of the 39th over and gets a single. 40 overs up and we are 170/2 needing only 9 runs off the last 10 overs. Badrinath has been absolutely fantastic today and has 79 off 122 whilst Dravid has 1 off 1.

End of Innings
We only needed 9 balls to get those 9 balls as we went on to win by 8 wickets! Badrinath hit a great shot for four runs to end the match with him being our best batsman, only just ahead of Tendulkar. Dravid stayed in and for the 3 balls faced did very well. Guyana's bowling attack wasn't the best ever though so praising our lads too much could be a little false. Good win none the less.

A dream start for the Coach and with Badrinath hitting 87* and Tendulkar hitting 80 the victory was never in doubt. We'll talk first about the Guyana bowling attack which I must admit was terrible. King(1-38) and Griffith(1-40) were their best bowlers and even they were pretty mediocre. McGarrell was the worst bowler by far, conceding 42 runs off 6 overs at 7 an over. All the bowlers were expensive and didn't bowl any real good line or any good length. The batting was very good apart from a little damper at the start when Biswal went for 4 runs but we all have a blip of form, maybe this is the start of his. Badrinath has cemented his place in the first One Day International with the score of 87*, as has Tendulkar with his score of 80 although his place was never in doubt. All in all a very respectable batting performance by the Indians.

India 179/2
Badrinath 87* King 1-38
Tendulkar 80 Griffith 1-40

India win by 8 wickets

Man of the Match - Zaheer Khan
