PONTING FALLS SHORT, CHAWLA ON FIRE

Ricky Ponting has become Pradeep Chawla's second victim on a pitch which is rapidly deteriorating, and it's only day 1! Ponting tried to hit chawla over the top of mid on but the extremely low bounce beat him and took the toe of the bat. The ball then skied in the air where it was well taken by Yuvraj Singh. Ponting looked in disbelief at how low the ball had bounced as he watched the ball being caught...

MARTYN REACHES HIS 50

Damien Martyn has broken through to reach another 50 as his run of good form continues. Martyn seem's to be playing with a lot more confidence and is looking like he is back to his best. The pitch is proving to be a shocker, so this innings carries more worth than usual...

RAIN HALTS PLAY

Unfortunately the heaven's have decided to open up above the Gabba and force players off the field. The showers look like they have settled in and will provide even more work for the ground staff who are already concerned about the state of the pitch and outfield.

Summary: In a mostly washed out day Australia took the initiative and used their feet to get to the pitch of the low bouncing ball. There is now however, A real danger of the game being washed out because of excessive rains due tonight and tomorrow.

DAY 2 DELAYED BY 2 HOURS

Indian captain Rahul Dravid is now looking towards the heavens for a miracle as the game appears to be getting closer and closer to a wash out. Australian captain Ricky Ponting and Rahul Dravid have made a meeting on whether or not to play and they have agreed to wait another 2 hours before deciding if conditions are good enough to play in...

PLAY CALLED OFF

This exciting Australia V India series has ended on a sour note with the cancellation of the 5th test match at Brisbane. Relentless rain eventually destroyed the pitch and outfield and conditions become horrible for cricket. With more rain brewing on the horizon any chances of play where gone in both captain's minds.

The Trophy was presented to Ricky Ponting who gladly accepted then went to celebrate with his team. The Indian cricket team walked off to the applause of the supporters who had turned up to the game. India played really well and gave the world champions many shocks over the whole tour. If they had won this game they would have drawn the series which is a real credit to them?
