India's tour of Australia - January 2016

Cricinfo's Preview -

Dhoni all but ruled out playing Rishi Dhawan or going with fewer than two spinners. Shikhar Dhawan, too, has his backing. Manish Pandey cannot be left out without giving him even one proper innings. So expect India to play the same XI. The only change might be Bhuvneshwar Kumar coming in for Umesh Yadav.

So 3-0 then.

That's our MSD - Mahendra Stubborn Dhoni

A freekish accident? Rishi and Mann are making their debuts!

These are good changes and the most needed ones. Hope Rishi and Mann have the best debuts.

Rohit gone. India'll win now. As he won't score any 100 nor India will lose. :p

Is this wicket slow ? Or is Dhawan just grinding it around to save his spot?

Tbf it seems uneven. Ball isn't coming on the bat from what I have seen so far.[DOUBLEPOST=1453006261][/DOUBLEPOST]But when Kohli bats like this everything seems so smooth.

Don't want to jinx it but it's looking like a Kohli special so far. He's playing really good.

Again weird selection by Dhoni and Shastri. If they wanted to drop a spinner, it should have been Jadeja and not Ashwin. We have enough batsmen, we need bowlers who can take wickets. Ashwin is more likely to take wickets than Jadeja.

Very scratchy inning from Dhawan. Yes, he was playing for his spot in the team but if he has wasted so many balls, he needs to make up for it in the end. He couldn't do that which means it straight away puts pressure on both Kohli and the new batsman coming in.

Kohli is playing another gem of an inning but it's the bowlers who needs to show up today to get a win here. Also our fielding needs to be much sharper than what it has been in the last 2 matches.

I had no net all morning, so here are a few of the thoughts I have had since play -

Its a different wicket and ideally 280-290 would be a fine score, but India would feel short even at 310 given how the bowling and fielding has been in the previous two games.

Dhawan's knock shows why ODIs are the perfect alternative to tests. In T20 its all senseless hitting. If you are not scoring at a run a ball you are a problem. There is no room for a batsman to work his way in, find some form, score the hard tough gritty tuns. Its either score or get out swinging the bat wildly ASAP so that the next guy can come in an start swinging his bat wildly. In ODIs there is still room for that, and a batsman still has room to do the basics and find form, to score the tough runs.

Pleased that Rishi Dhawan has finally got a debut. Kohli keeps improving and its great to see him score so consistently again.

Also two women feeling each other up in a condom ad, is perhaps not the best ad to put in between overs during a cricket game, on a Sunday morning where kids are watching in numbers in India.

295, I think India will take it, however at one stage it looked like it would go past 300. Down to bowlers now.[DOUBLEPOST=1453013866][/DOUBLEPOST]
^ Just go with this line up -

Rohit
Rahane
Kohli
MSD
Mann
Jadeja
Rishi Dhawan
Ashwin
Bhuvi/Ishant/Umesh (Pick any 2)
Sran

India almost went with this very line up.
