India's tour of Australia - January 2016

So line ups for tomorrow -

What I want vs (What India are actually likely to feel)

Shikhar Dhawan
Rohit
Virat
Rahane
Manish Pandey
MS Dhoni
Ravindra Jadeja
Rishi Dhawan (Ishant Sharma)
R Ashwin
Umesh Yadav
Sran

So basically I would prefer Rishi Dhawan to Ishant, who has not played ODIs for India for a long while, and is generally a disappointement anyway, but Dhoni is unlikely to go that way. I don't see any other changes to the side though.

India no longer producing readymade talent - Dhoni | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo

A case in point was his mention of the absence of a seaming allrounder in the squad, and then another that there was no point just making up numbers until a really good one was found. Some might wonder if Rishi Dhawan, the allrounder who opens the bowling for Himachal Pradesh and batted at No. 4 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, needs to carry a placard to the nets to be spotted.

Rishi's presence was ignored when Dhoni was asked for a possible combination. "Most likely it will be three-two [quicks-spinners]," he said. "Because we don't really have a seaming allrounder so most likely it will be a three-two combination. Who are the players, we will wait and watch."

So this clearly states that Dhoni doesn't rate Rishi Dhawan too much because even though he is in the squad, he is still saying that we are missing a seaming all-rounder. I thought Rishi bowled well in the second practice game but probably hasn't impressed much in net sessions? I hope he is given a proper shot or at least as many chances as Stuart Binny got before they decide to throw him out.

It will also be surprising if Ishant plays because he hasn't played in any of the practice matches.

Some of Dhoni`s comments today about not having any readymade talent is very negative. If this is what he is going to come up with, time and again in his press conferences, be it the open questioning of Rahane`s ability or the constant acidic jibes about the fast bowling. Its time he is asked to step down.

This is about building a new side, and no youngster wants to listen to how they are worse off than those from the past.

lol i believe someone forgot to mention to him hardik pandya and rishi dhawan are in the squad, i mean pandya just scored 34 of a over and can hit decent 140 odd speed with the ball, if that is not seam all rounder category i dont know what is!

Very strange things said by MSD - I wonder if he is under a lot of pressure because the ODI team has been performing poorly in the last few series (loss to SAF and BD in subcontinent conditions). We even lost a T20 to ZIM in September.

I hope this is not the mindset he will go with on the field. This attitude of "we are not talented enough" can go either way. Can spur on some of the newbies to prove a point and can also pull them down and put unneeded pressure on them

What a shot by Sharma ...

The weird thing is that for a side that usually struggles on bouncy wickets, India have a good record in Perth. I remember the Tendulkar 100 draw in the 90s early on and then India winning a test in 2008 there. Weird.

Fantastic start for India. Hitman and Kohli looking for big specially Rohit.
