India's tour of Australia - January 2016

Good catch. He almost at Warner plumb too, that bat just came down at the last second.[DOUBLEPOST=1452585520][/DOUBLEPOST]Wow another one for Sran. I like the wicket, but I think its a little too early for him to be giving Warner a send off.

2nd Wicket down.

This is a kind of a very sensational debut one could ever expect for. 2 victims already... way to go Sran.

Bailey too? Couldn't catch up the hotspot view neatly.

as good as debuts get i guess, to me more than the wkts the way he has constantly kept troubling the batsman with some deliveries makes him look good!

Yeah its one of those, a faint nudge off the glove, one can't blame the umpires for that. Even the Indian players weren't fully convincing with the appeal.

Another promising left hand bowler. I hope he keeps going like Zak and not end up like Irfan or RP.

Hard not to be impressed by Sran ... a good positive and pragmatic selection by the Indian Selectors. Has less than 20 domestic games (First Class and List A combined). Usually selector wait for a bowler to be ground into dust playing domestic cricket, before picking them.

Would have had a third if India would use dsr. So take that BCCI:clap

Else than that though it has been a good india performance. Felt they could have gone earlier with the batting but not a bad total. Sran has been impressive.

I think to be honest Rohit deserves his place in the limited overs side, no questions asked. If anything he is among the first few names you put on the teamsheet for limited overs games.

He is not a test player though. He doesn't have the game for tests. He likes to play his shots and in tests, it becomes a problem for him. The pitch is usually offering a lot more, the bowlers have a lot more going for them, the ball is doing more, they are allowed to bowl bouncers, etc. Rohit just has to play a lavish shot every 10-15 runs. He will get to a 30 or so and then get out playing an exapansive shot. It works in ODIs as the pitch is helpful to batting, the bowlers are mostly on the defensive, but in tests it doesn't, because the pitch is either not condusive for that shot, or the bowling is more attacking.

A quick 30 doesn't help anyone in tests, and Rohit just can't help himself. In limited overs its fine, an asset even, but in tests its a downright laibility.
That's one true thing you said there. I'm never in favor of number of chances he has had in tests despite lack of performances (as I said earlier he hasn't been able to keep track in longer forms in recent years). It's just, he's hardly being praised for his ODI top knocks and rather gets trolled for how well he plays, with a stupid tag 'htb/ftb' created by a stupid Internet user or due to the fact he had lot of extra test opportunities. After all, what the hell his test chances has to do with his ODI performance!

Anyways second innings need some attention. That discussion has been around since morning. We are going really really good at this stage. Sran is having a spectacular debut so far. I just hope Dhoni doesn't treat him so crucially that he'd like to bowl all his 10 overs in one spell(in same case where Bhuvi was being bowled like that consistently after his debut). His abilities should be checked by letting him bowl few overs in middle and death too. He has bowled 6 overs already by the time I typed this.

Meanwhile Bailey wants to bustle?

Why is BCCI not using DRS such a big deal? Especially in light of DRS having gotten into so many blunders off late. You assume that the Bailey one would hvae been given out 100% on review. But that is not always the case. The very recent Lyon decision is a perfect example, similar to Bailey's -

Anyone who sees this will tell you Lyon was out, there is a clear mark on Hot Spot, and yet, Lyon was given n.o. Even Steven Smith described it as a 'pretty big error'.

or This -

Nothing on snicko, nothing on hot spot, and yet the caught behind out decision is upheld. I bet Root thought, its okay I didn't edge it and I have DRS it will be sorted out soon. DRS messes up then.

Why do you assume that for Bailey he would definitely have been given out on review. How do you know the DRS system would not have messed it up too like it did for Lyon, and Bailey would have remained not out.

Reviews are all well and good but DRS is clearly still a work in progress. In light of sudden influx in DRS errors ICC have infact commissioned another study into DRS to be done by MIT. Why not wait for the flaws to be ironed out.

Typical Dhoni. He brings Rohit Sharma in to bowl when the opposition are 2 down for not many, chasing 300+, with Yadav, Ashwin and Jadeja yet to bowl. This may all seem pointless but the momentum can slip away in an over or two and so can the game. Dhoni has let this happen time and again. Its time for Indian cricket to move on from him.
