India's Tour of South Africa Dec 21 - Jan 22

Quite surprised to see that approach South Africa has had in this game thus far. They look tied up and are finding it hard to rotate strike. This pressure literally ate up Markram and hence you see that run-out. Tbh Markram can't really keep throwing it away. I feel his days are just numbered now if he doesn't perform soon.

On to the pitch, the bounce seems quite sub-continent -ish while the pace hasn't really caught up. I think by the time India would be batting, the surface will quicken up a bit. Anything under 240 and this is India's game. This however doesn't seem like a 275+ pitch at all. Anything more than 250 is going to worry India.

Markram has always flattered to deceive in ODIs. I'm pleased to see Malan finally being preferred as the opener.

However I don't think they're quite going to axe Markram yet. The bloke has worked a lot on his bowling and given how badly the Proteas have struggled for a sixth bowler since the decline of Duminy (who wasn't great either) I can see him being persisted with as a floater for quite sometime.

Left right combination it seems. Haha Kohli gone now…

India gone now… listless captaincy and batting failing just at the right moments for the opposition.

On India's bowling composition in limited overs cricket, I'd rather play Deepak Chahar over Shardul Thakur, and have Deepak-Bhuvi open the bowling and then keep some of Bhuvi for the late-end and death overs... Deepak Chahar is almost as handy a batsman as Shardul is. Also Shardul is more of a test match bowler where he doesn't have to worry about batsmen going aggressive against his bowling. I know he picks wickets, but he also leaks lots of runs. Deepak also gives away runs, but has a lot more control than Shardul (List A numbers: Deepak's ECO is 5.23 vs Shardul's 5.75; Deepak's ECO in all T20's is 7.6 in 115 matches while Shardul has 8.6 in 124 matches).

30 overs for nearly 200 without a wicket, yet Venky Iyer doesn't find a ball but he plays ahead of SKY!

The coach is doing his bit by creating an audition for that batting and bowling all rounder we are missing but it isn't worth much if the captain does not see eye to eye.

This.

Also, India have an obsession with copying people but the Woakes type all rounder they are finding in Shardul in test matches is actually Bhuvi/Deepak Chahar in SENA nations bar Oz. It is criminal to not play that type of bowler in these conditions.

Why did Rahul open, he was doing great at 5.

Lord lending respectability to the score.

Just replace Venkatesh Iyer & Ashwin with Pandya & Jadeja.

This will be more than a good lineup.

Rohit is back at the top that means Rahul at 4.

Quite similar to ODI squad we had during the England series last year.
