India's tour of West Indies June 2011

If younger players keep on performing like this then we would have a amazing line up for ODI's vs England when Big boys returns. This is the probable line up that England have to face

Sachin
Sehwag
Gambhir
Rohit(If he continues his performance he may edge kohli for this spot)
Yuvraj
Raina
Dhoni
Bhajji
Zaheer
Praveen
Mishra

With Players like Pathan,Ashwin,Munaf,Ishant,Badrinath and Kohli in the back up.
Tough road ahead for England. :spy

I just feel for Badrinath. He brings calmness to the crease and has got amazing technique. He was just unlucky to play when India Already had so many great Batsmen. In 90's he would have been a certainty in the team:thumbs

Yes it is a second string side but they had them on floors at 92/7. Raina's decision to bowl out Mishra by 30th over was a bit odd, that meant part timers were gonna bowl between 30th and 45th over, and it did cost India in Raina's last over where he gave away 20+ runs. Also apart from Kohli's wicket the top 5 wickets were gifted, they were trying too many shots unnecessarily.

I think with Raina, Kohli and Rohit bowling 10 overs together we can do away with Yusuf and have a proper batsman at number 7. His bowling has been crap and he has gotten away with it many times. I would like to see Tiwary, Ishant and Ashwin come in for Yusuf, Praveen and Harbhajan.

Me too wish to see similar changes being made. In fact, by bringing in those changes, we might actually strengthen the side even more. Rest Harbhajan and now give Ashwin a chance. Maybe I would rest Munaf instead of Praveen and play Ishant. Praveen didnt play the World Cup and so is fresh enough. Munaf played the World Cup, the IPL, the SA tour before the WC, etc. Let Badri play the remaining ODI's and see if he can grab his chances atleast now. This would be my XI for the 4th ODI

Parthiv Patel
Shikar Dhawan
S Badrinath
Virat Kohli
Suresh Raina
Rohit Sharma
Manoj Tiwary
Praveen Kumar
R Ashwin
Amit Mishra
Ishant Sharma

No. I would continue picking Kohli over Rohit Sharma. Attitude wise, it would be nicer to have an aggressive guy instead of a guy who looks laidback and lazy (not sure if Rohit has changed any of that). Kohli at times oversteps the line, but he is a very special talent for us to take notice of his overstepping the line attitude. On fielding, he is better than Rohit Sharma. As far as bowling is concerned, we have too many spin part timers (e.g. Yuvraj, Raina, Sehwag, etc) and so it would be good for us to have a medium pace part timer for variety.

I agree that our bench strength is now starting to look pretty solid. I am waiting for the England, Australia and SA tour to come soon now. See how these boys go about it.

To be honest, I've never really been impressed with Badrinath. Technically, he looks too pointy, and there isn't a lot of fluidity in his movement that you see with others like Vijay and Rohit Sharma. Still, if he gets the runs then I have nothing against him. Just saying that he isn't very pleasing to the eye.

Also, I don't know why no one is talking about how unbelievably beautifully Amit Mishra is bowling ! Seriously, it's a pleasure to watch a leg spinner weave his magic and this guy has got it all. He's just under 29 years old now, so still has a good 7 years left in him. I really think he's far more threatening in all forms of the game than either Ashwin or Harbhajan. Purely as a bowler, I think he's the best spinner in the game right now in terms of talent. Although others like Swann and Harbhajan have backed it up with wickets over a period of time....but I'd say in terms of potential, Mishy's got it.

Yup, Mishy has been terrific in this series. His real test would be in test matches where batsman don't usually have to play shots on his bowling. I believe he's got it in him to succeed at that level too

Good to see Rohit finally stepping up this series. He was always regarded as a talented player who failed to understand and nurture his own skills. Nice to see him play good match winning knocks.
Series is decided but I am sure Windies never expected to win this one. If they somehow win the last two matches, it will boost their morale. They did come close to beating India in the 3rd match. Ander Russel impressed me with his batting and temperament in the middle. I have never seen the over rated Pollard play and construct such a good innings. I won't be surprised if Russel takes Pollard's place in near future.

Fair point. But Tahir has similar tools as well to Mishra.

I dont like Tahir's action. Not fluent at all :p

Mishra again impresses. A major turning point for him, 9 wickets in 4 matches so far (with still 3 overs to go for him in the 4th one). Ishant also has looked good till now, bowling at good speeds. Tiwary should open with Parthiv today.

Ishant has definitely worked on his action. He's completing it nicely in the delivery stride thus generating good pace and bounce on a dead pitch. :thumbs

But he still needs lot of work on that front foot landing thing. He used to bowl lot of no-balls and he still is in danger of bowling lot of no-balls since he gets so close with his front foot to the crease. But he looks a lot better now than before. His pace is hovering near the 90's.

Yet it was good to see him bowling with some pace on such a slow wicket(Nice change from Munaf). I would love to see him bowl in England. :clap

Did anyone see the wrong decision from the umpire against India during that last over of the WI innings? It was a clear cut runout which the umpire din refer. Loved seeing Harbhajan and co get pissed at the common room. Hopefully, the umpires make more number of errors against India during the test series so that the dimwits in BCCI realize the need for technology.

Indias top order again fails and I see end of Badrinath era as he faills again Manoj too did not look convincing but that was just one off an inning.
