India's Tour to South Africa

Naah we will lose that as well.
We will be fun since our batting would click at home. Rohit will go one to make half centuries, Gill the prince will score double hundreds and life will be normal. Prepare a spinning track and the need for good 3rd fast bowler will be forgotten as Axar, Jadeja and Aswin will pick up all 9 wickets.

India will get bazballed.

That Gill is also so overarated lol.

That debut tour to Australia was his only good outgoing rest all ftb.

Looks like 2011 is officially back minus the WC.

Moye Moye.

I would love to see that since that is the only time someone deep will look and introspect what is currently wrong in Indian test team. We need more Pujara batsman and we keep getting is Iyer. Iyer is solid but does not give me any confidence like Puji or Rahane would give me.

And just like that 5 tests lost overseas since Kohli left captaincy.

Rohit appears to be mentally checked out.

His video of the world cup defeat felt the same. It is ok to be checked out. You need motivation to perform and WTC is 2 years away, T20 is something he isnt sure if he will be in the 15, ODI wc is 4 years away. There is no purpose left for him.

Again if Rohit retires lets say tomorrow, who captains? KL right?

I wouldn’t mind KL for the moment as for some reason his ODI and test captaincy hasn’t been as bad as his T20 stint.

I mean we dont have an option. If leaving Rohit and Virat looking at that lineup the choices are not many. I do not see Iyer in the India XI for too long. Gill is too young and raw. Ashwin is almost at the end of his career. Bumrah is injury prone. Pant could have been had it not been his freak accident. Leaves only KL. Might as well have KL lead all three sides and have one captain coach combo who could set vision up for next 5 years. Just like Kohli did.

I’m not a fan of having one man leading in all three formats unless the player’s an exceptional talent and a great captain who can handle the pressure and workload of both the playing and leading roles. Rahul is definitely not in that camp since he’s both injury prone and is not currently a part of the T20I squad on merit. I’m not sure I would want KL sticking around in ODIs till 2028 either as I believe there are better options in the long run.

The one vision part is appealing though. It’s why we need a team director of some sort akin to the GM in American sports whose job is to ensure a similar philosophy runs in all three teams while leaving the coaching and day to day activities to separate head coaches for different formats.
