Hes there for the big two series in the SA tour and the Ashes. After that we could bring in a youngster if performing but if McGain is going well will be tough to drop him so we probably will wait until he retires which hopefully will be after our next big series after that. Ideally if he can play till hes 40 then one of our spinners surely would have stepped up.

Yep pretty much my thoughts too. The SA tour and the Ashes are big series that we need to win. You need to play your best players then, no matter how old they are. I'd still be badgering Warney to play.

But after the Ashes, I think we need a purge of a few older players who won't be around for the next Ashes or India and SA tours. We must make sure we are looking to the future. It should mean the end of McGain. Brett Lee, Stuart Clark and Andrew Symonds should be eased out. Even Mike Hussey and Simon Katich don't have a huge amount of time left. If any of these guys loses form after the Ashes, they should get the chop for a younger man.
