JC's Cricket Stories Graphics Thread

NOTE: My HRV Cup story will continue of course

I will have a bit of time on my hands for the next few weeks, so basically I thought I'd have a go at making graphics for other users' stories, on request. I'll be making banners, TV overlays, website graphics, pretty much anything for cricket stories that is graphics related.

I won't be able to guarantee that I'll always be quick with my response to requests, or that my work will be amazing, but I'm confident I'll do a reasonable job in providing your stories with that extra something they wouldn't have otherwise had. (The likes of KBC and Pranav in the Graphics Forum may make better graphics than me, but they are not just focussed on story writers' needs).

Here are some examples of my work:

Australasian Super League Logos

The Cricketers' Show Banner

Hawkeye Animation

I'll probably take some time for totally new TV Overlays, (i.e. a week or more) but banners and website graphics I might be able to be a bit faster on.

Requests Guidelines:

For Banners: List size, colour scheme, players you want on it etc.

For TV or Website overlays: List size, and please post screenshot/s of the overlay in question, or provide a link to the website

Please post your requests freely!

Mate, I reckon you had to do this is the Official Story Graphics one.:yes

But, good job indeed:clap. But once ask Surendar or King Cricket or Arslaan and make sure that its allowed:).

To kick off, I've made website templates for most of the main countries' websites:

Some of these have been done before but I made them anyway, so I could make a complete set. Here's Cricket Australia:

England in Control

00028043-image.jpg

28 May, 2010

Jonathan Trott personally re-attuned England to the demands of Test cricket with a career-best, unbeaten 175 on day one against Bangladesh at Lord's.

A team featuring only four ICC World Twenty20-winners did not necessarily need to adapt significantly to five-day pace.

But, just in case anyone watching this low-key start to the international summer in a half-full HQ harboured expectations of quick-fix shot-making, Trott set the record straight in his 270-ball stay.

The result was a slow-burner kind of domination, in a close-of-play 4-362 which meant no-one could seriously quibble with cornerstone Trott's eccentric methods.

The No.3 shared an unbroken stand of 104 with debutant Eoin Morgan and 181 with Andrew Strauss (83), the captain effectively restating his authority after being rested for England's 2-0 victory over these same opponents on the sub-continent two months ago.

Like the statistics for Trott's innings, England's scorecard had a lop-sided appearance.

Alastair Cook, Kevin Pietersen and Ian Bell all missed out. But Trott and Strauss needed no second bidding to cash in on a pitch of good pace and even bounce. The second-wicket pair engaged in some necessary early caution to ensure seven for one - after the early loss of Cook - did not turn into anything more embarrassing on a cloudy morning.

Zimbabwe v India, Tri Series, 1st match, Bulawayo

Taylor and Ervine seal terrific win
May 28, 2010

Zimbabwe 289/4 (Taylor 81, Ervine 67*) beat India 285/5 (Rohit 114, Jadeja 61*) by six wickets
Scorecard and ball-by-ball details
How they were out

117688.jpg

This wasn't an upset at all. Zimbabwe were the stronger side, which showed in the assured manner of a tall chase, set up by fliers from Brendan Taylor and Hamilton Masakadza and finished off with 10 balls to spare by a cool-on-debut Craig Ervine. The return of high-profile cricket to Zimbabwe put smiles on the faces of a spirited crowd, built mostly of school children, as the home team meticulously beat India for the first time in eight years, and sealed its second-highest successful chase in ODIs. A weak India's only creditable spell came when Rohit Sharma scored 69 off the last 36 balls he faced to score his maiden ODI century and give them a fighting total on a flat track.

That Rohit assault and a wayward bowling start aside, Zimbabwe dominated the rest of the game. India's real weakness showed when their three debutant medium-pacers proved to be no match for Zimbabwe's batting. Zimbabwe, though, could only have played against the side their opponents sent over, and that they did fantastically.

Taylor and Masakadza were brutal against the new ball. None of the medium-pacers looked like creating a chance, and the openers duly punished them, reaching 88 in 13 overs. The first over of the chase was indicative of the effort of both sides. Ashok Dinda finished with one pitched up too far, and Taylor drove it wristily for four. It remained the case in the first 10 overs: whenever the bowlers went too full or too short, they were hit. The in-between lengths induced respect, but never bothered the batsmen. The pitch didn't have the bounce, nor the bowlers the pace to trouble them with the bouncers. Umesh Yadav, the fastest of the three, and R Vinay Kumar were both pulled away for sixes.

If Masakadza unleashed raw power, Taylor brought a sense of calm with the way he went about scoring. Two balls after Dinda failed to collect cleanly and missed his run-out in the eighth over, Masakadza made room and smashed him through extra cover. That was the first time Zimbabwe's run-rate went past six, batting would only look easier in the upcoming few overs. Vinay got the worst treatment when Taylor hit the 10th over for two sixes and a four: a pull, a golf swing over long-on, and a square-cut.

Amit Mishra was the only bowler who challenged Zimbabwe, and in his second over he removed Masakadza with a googly. Taylor dropped anchor then, and while he and Greg Lamb added only 63 in 16.3 overs, Zimbabwe needed only 135 in more than 20 overs by the time they were separated.

That's when Ervine belied someone making debut. Even as Taylor slowed down, and then holed out to fine leg, Ervine kept scoring at almost a run a ball without taking undue risks. He picked up gaps well, and by the time he hit his first boundary he had already scored 30 off 38 balls. By then Zimbabwe had lost Taylor, but Charles Coventry was in the middle of a cameo himself, and 72 were required off 52 with a batting Powerplay in hand.

The sort of time, then, when the minnow side's mental strength is tested with a win in sight. Ervine, though, made mockery of such fears, and went after the fastest bowler on display, Yadav. That Elton Chigumbura moved to 20 off 15 with the winning hit will relieve the new captain after a horrible start to the match.

Needed a banner for my story with text:"Greens' Journey In T20I's"
Background: Pakistan Players with T20 WC. It should be mixed with green layer with some cool graphics.
Size: I dunno which size but one which you think will be good for a post is ok:)

Hey JC, could you please make me a banner for my story.

ATM I have this, I want the Aces logo to be the main/central image, and I also want it to say "World Tour", either on top of it or below the Aces logo. Also could the colour of the "World Tour" be in the same colour as the "Aces" on the logo.

As that should only really take up the middle third, on the two outer thirds I want some of the players. I want a mixture of them in white clothing and one day clothing, but when you put them on the banner make sure they are in Aces clothing, not the blackcaps uniform. I reckon there should be space to fit three or four players either side of the logo, and could you have the players doing their discipline, so Mills bowling, Vincent batting etc, look below for the players.

Players - I don't mind too much, but here's a list of the players I would prefer in order of preference, the first five are in no real order, Mills, Styris, Vincent, Tuffey, Guptill, then the next three are in no real order Hopkins, Martin and McIntosh.

Colour scheme - Could I have the Aces colours in the background, so Sky Blue and Royal Blue, also maybe this Blue. What ever blue's look the best.

Size - Normal banner size, so probably 600 * 200.

Sorry for being so demanding, feel free to take as long as you want, and feel free to change a few things up once you see how it looks.
I'm not really sure if it helps me giving such specific directions, or not.

Thanks a lot, I can't give you reps as I need to spread it, but I gave you a thanks. ;)

Like you I prefer the first one, it's pretty much exactly what I wanted. I think it's more the background that I prefer in the first one. Just after I posted the request I thought about putting a world in the background, and you ended up doing it anyway.

great stuff JC, could you make a cricinfo scorecard overlay or something like that? that'll be great if you could. :)

thanks mate!! Good banner!! Will be coming up with more requests!!KIU!
