May be, not now!! With the new wave of friendship developing between the two countries, i feel there might not be as much opposition as it was before if Wasim Akram coaches India. I would love to see him coach India! Zaheer, Irfan and Nehra can benefit a lot from him

if not him, we can have Javagal Srinath as our bowling coach!

Robin Singh is with Hong Kong now...

I would like Steve waugh. Even if Dada dosen't like him. Infact, teaming up with an old foe is always good, they both will be unstoppable. The only reason why they probably didn't like each other so much was because they both were so similar, yet different. Good captains, fine batsmen in both forms, handy bowlers and didn't have the best of starts th thier careers. Yet one resorted to sledging, but was quiet with the bat and did form the worlds best team, and the other kind of timid, yet a lion with the bat and is currently leading the most promise-filled team today. Like the saying goes-"Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer".

I would love to see Steve-Dada combo...it would be devastating...
I think there problem was only on field i.e. as rivals but other then that everything seems fine...I think even steve mentioned that he would like to coach Indian team
moreover saurav having problem with others is nothing new...remember he even had problems with current BCCI president...yet everything is cool now so its no big deal...they r professionals players and should get along nicely...
but if Steve-Dada doesnt work out then I think Chappell is much better option then sunny or patil

Looks like no Indian might ever coach India!!!
It seems with Indian coaches, they suddenly start dancing to the tunes of the players. That is not the case with foreign coaches. They are bothered about the history of the players or of Indian cricket. So, its easier for them to coach and not many players can bully them around!!

If Steve Waugh coaches us, then man!! I am sure India can improve greatly!!! Or Chappell, Dean Jones, etc. Bring in an Aussie!!

don't think so. one of ex pakistan captains Intikhab Alam is coaching Indian state team - Punjab in domestic "Ranji" championship..with good result too they are in finals after beating Mumbai!

yeh but wasim akram is pakistans all time best bowler. to some people he is the worlds best bolwer. to see a player of that quality leaving a team to go to a rival team must hurt fans

It has caused problems in the near past. India had tried to hire Akram as their official bowling coach but the PCB and I think fans in Pakistan opposed it (trhough legal action too, I"m not sure though) so they could only take him on as an unofficial advisor. I think the worst thing India could possibly do is take 2 separate coaches because you are sending the wrong signals to the players and the coaches. There will be ego problems between the coaches because no one will actually be in control of the team unit and both will try and gain control of it.

My problem with recently retired cricketers is that they will NOT bond well with the senior members of the Indian team. The relationships they enjoy with Steve Waugh is more of an opponent and not as a 'mentor'. Maybe they will be able to change these but I think the transition period could cause trouble.

How about Kapil for the bowlers and Azhar for the batsmen?

Won't work. Kapil has already tried his hand and proved to be inept. And Azhar, for goodness's sake, is not allowed to even play cricket at any level, so its extremely unlikely that he'd given a chance of coaching a test side, and be welcomed back into the cricketing fraternity.

As sohummisra has very rightly pointed out, India have tried and been unable to hire Akram in the very recent past, so a Pakistani coach is pretty much out of the picture.

As a matter of fact, I think a tough, fitness oriented coach like Bishen Singh Bedi could be good for India, but he's been known to have lots of problems with all kinds of administrators, due to his outspoken and blunt nature.

Yep, he was good for Indian Cricket. But he's been coach for 5 years now, and its about time someone else was handed the reigns, just for the infusion of new ideas if nothing else.

Hahhaahahhahaaaaaaaa that was a funny joke. Srikkanth needs to go polish up his Hindi before he does anything. Although he does provide a solid laugh in Fourth Umpire. Coaching? He will more likely quarrel with everyone about everything. I don't see Srikkanth being a good coach.

Srikkanth will not be liked by Ganguly. Srikkanth made some unhealthy comments on the team's performance during the 2003 World Cup when India did poorly. And the Indian players, especially Ganguly and Srinath hit back indirectly at him saying that they do not care for his comments at all

Srikkanth is a very talkative person and keeps on muttering something or the other. Not many will like him thought he might be right and wrong at times.

What has Hindi got to do with coaching?? I think most players understand English in our team. Even Sehwag, who mostly speaks in Hindi, understands English well.

India needs a foreign coach!!!

Nothing it is just hilarious to listen to him try and speak it. I can't speak it that well either, but surely better than him. :D Was it Srikkanth that said Ganguly should bat at #14 or was it Sidhu?
