Sehwag invited to step aside

Interesting that you mention Delhi in that list.

Since when have Mr. Jaitley and his acolytes started backing Dalmia?

He used to back Dalmiya and was of the Dalmiya faction.
If i'm not wrong, before Ranbir Singh Mahendra was nominated as the presidential candidate after jagmohan himself, the BJP govt fell at the center.
Otherwise, the ppl who would have contested the elections would have been Sharad Pawar and Arun Jaitley.
Mr dalmiya wanted a person in the govt(govt in power). This took place in 2004.

I think BCCI is right in "scolding" Sehwag.

No employee should bring his employer in bad light.

What he said was Ganguly was missed and he wanted to see Ganguly in the team. Now he isnt the selector,is he ?????

He made such an ideotic comment before ("Chopra is my ideal foil") and was flaked by the same Ganguly in the press.Remember anybody ???

Sehwag is a very bad talker. He seems to give the media something or the other whenever he gives an interview.

Some of his bloopers :

"I can score a double century in this Asia Cup against UAE"

"I have corrected my technique and thus will score more runs this time around" (Before the Pak tour).

"I am not in bad form, its just that runs are not coming.Even Sachin is struggling as welll"

I do not know why one has to be so critical about Shewag. I read most of the things he said and it did not sound anything so bad.

He may be going through a lean patch now but he is an exceptional player when he is scoring runs. He has the third highest average in Cricket next to Dravid and Tendulkar in tests. He has the highest score by an Indian and he has scored runs on occasions when everyone has failed as in the last New Zealand tour. He has won many matches for India. Players like him does not come up everyday and it is in India's best interest to nurture him during difficult times.

His lean patch may be because of too much cricket. He is an instinctive player and may in the current system they are forcing him to play more orthodox cricket which may also be the reason for the rut. They say that he has weakness against short pitch bowling but he dealt with those kind of bowling in Australia and other places before.

The BCCI is not supposed to be just an employer to employ cricket players to make money. For whom are they making money? I wonder! Is the goal of BCCI to improve the standard of Cricket or just to make money? BCCI is supposed be democratically elected body like the government. A democratic government is ultimately answerable to the people. In the same way the BCCI is ultimately answerable to the public and the fans.

BCCI is not supposed to be like the old communist soviet politburo, Niranjan Shah acting like Stalin to send anyone who speaks their mind to Siberia or worse.

When did speaking about Ganguly put BCCI in a "bad light". If you're talking abt the burn out issue, even Sachin, Dravid, why even Chappell spoke about it? That means the burn out issue was not the reason for the BCCI reprimanding Sehwag!

One doesnt need to be selector to voice out his opinion about certain players! In my opinion, Sehwag needs to revisit his contract with the board and look what to add to it. But the sad thing is, if the board doesnt agree to the new additions, they have the power to sack Sehwag (or to put it decently, terminate his contract). So if Sehwag wants to keep playing for India, he has to keep quiet.

What is the relation between that comment to the current one?

One must agree with the fact that Sehwag cannot converse well in English.
I'd say give him a chance to speak out his mind in Hindi, and mind you he'll come up with great answers.

Whats wrong about that.
Whenever tendulkar is out of form ,most of the ppl say that he's not in a bad form. Its hightime they remember that evry player is only human.

It does as his saying suggests that Ganguly deserves a place and he isnt there because of reasons other than cricketing.

Well but ther are code of conducts which expects current player to refrain form speaking on selection matter.

It shows he aint a good speaker.HE flows with the emotion and churns out ideotic comments which are further fuelled by the media.

I read contents of Shewag's interview unless I missed something I did not read anything to the effect that Shewag saying "Ganguly deserves a place". All he seemed to say about Ganguly was that sometimes they missed Ganguly and he really supported some of the youngsters when he was captain. Is it possible for you to refer to some article or posting on the net which indicates that he made the exact comments "Ganguly deserves a place" or something that means the same.

BCCI and democracy? how did those two words get close anyway?

and even even if it is democratic, players should have the right to express their ideas.

Why do they want to close Ganguly topic? It surely means something is fishy, and we all know that. Its just that nobody can do anything about it.

BCCI can definitely act upon...if the players do something wrong. But what is wrong with expressing feelings? ideas?

The BCCI is more a dictatorship than democracy. All they want is money, and its costing the Indian players, including budding youngsters.

Ganguly may have been dropped because of poor form, but I think the main reason was that the BCCI saw Ganguly as a thorn in their side, and they well an truly hated him. The way the BCCI works isn't just, and Sehwag was right to voice his opinion.

And some of the fixtures that they have played (vs Pak in Abu Dhabi) or will play (tourney against WI in North America may be played) are made just for money, and in my opinion are quite ridiculous...

Gag, gag, gag!

What's with the BCCI?
Virender Sehwag says he misses Ganguly, says the Indian team plays too much cricket, he is gagged. The BCCI warns him not to speak on such issues.
Sachin Tendulkar has his first net in months. The media is not invited. When they land up they are asked to shoot for afar.
So TV has a sideways angle of Sachin playing a few shots. So do most photographers. And not even a few words from ST after the session.
On one side, you have the board tomtomming that they will be transperent and mordern in its thinking. And then you have this.
What's so controversial about Sehwag saying he misses Ganguly (who he thinks is his mentor)? Or what's so secretive about Tendulkar knocking a few balls back that the media cannot take whatever shots they want?
The board says it wants to take the game forward. But this stuff reeks of the dark ages of Indian cricket.
Meanwhile M S Dhoni has signed an 'exclusive' deal with the TV channel NDTV. So what will he speak about there? His hairstyle?

In the current context,it's pretty similar to saying " John Wright deserves to coach a country like India"
John Wright is still looking for a job,on the other hand Ganguly is looking forth to the team that can accomodate him.

True, they have been on a witch-hunt ever since they came into power.
The two Bengalis have been really bobbed down.
Yeah,but Ganguly would'nt mind much.
He's been given a Grade A contract. So,he's getting money without doing anything ;)

Agreed.Money,money & Money.
Why does'nt the BCCI turn up for Management College Fests where Money is the common theme ? They could do wonders.
The players should oppose this motive of the BCCI.

Forgive me for saying this, but the media always over-hypes ST.When he begun his practice, the TV channels did report ' Sachin Tendulkar practices with a cricket ball'.
Obviously,he'd practice with a cricket ball-whats so great about that ?

Another thing,Tendulkar himself changed the location of his practice as he himself did not want the media meddling

For that statement in bold-
The Board wants to take the game forward by not playing in Twenty-20 ?
This is acute dictatorship.
