Whatmore interested in coaching India
LONDON, APRIL 7. The Bangladesh national cricket team coach, Dav Whatmore, has said he is interested in taking over as India coach from John Wright, according to BBC Sport.
Wright will relinquish his coaching post soon after the ongoing one-day series against Paksitan.
Three Australians ? Whatmore, Greg Chappell and Tom Moody ? are reportedly in the running to replace Wright.
Whatmore said, "They had better make up their minds soon, as my contract with Bangladesh expires on April 30. I'm a professional and, of course, I'd be interested in talking to the Indians," he said.
Whatmore, who coached Sri Lanka to World Cup victory in 1996, took over as Bangladesh coach two years ago and oversaw their first ever Test win over Zimbabwe in January.
Talks over extension of the Bangladesh contract was at an advanced stage, he said.
