John Wright to quit

Kapil Dev should first be cured of his habit of making utterly irresponsible statements before he can even be considered for any official role. He won't be coach simply because people like Tendulkar and Ganguly won't be thrilled to have him around (he called them "selfish" in a strongly worded statement a couple of years back).

And Wright isn't off yet. He's leaving after the ODI series. So here's to India winning the ODI series for Wright. And lets see how the BCCI manages to muddle up the coach selection process.

Wright wants to leave after a memorable moment. That's why he didn't leave after the test series.
If the Indians don't want him to leave, they wouldn't win the ODI series and Wright would wait series till India wins and continue to be coach...lol...

harsha bogle is a good comentator. But I think he has never played cricket before.
Since he is a good comentator should he become the coach??? :p

Another turn to this.

Looks like Bangladesh coach Dav Watmore would be the next coach.

Here's a news report:

The Hindu said:
Whatmore interested in coaching India

LONDON, APRIL 7. The Bangladesh national cricket team coach, Dav Whatmore, has said he is interested in taking over as India coach from John Wright, according to BBC Sport.

Wright will relinquish his coaching post soon after the ongoing one-day series against Paksitan.

Three Australians ? Whatmore, Greg Chappell and Tom Moody ? are reportedly in the running to replace Wright.

Whatmore said, "They had better make up their minds soon, as my contract with Bangladesh expires on April 30. I'm a professional and, of course, I'd be interested in talking to the Indians," he said.

Whatmore, who coached Sri Lanka to World Cup victory in 1996, took over as Bangladesh coach two years ago and oversaw their first ever Test win over Zimbabwe in January.

Talks over extension of the Bangladesh contract was at an advanced stage, he said.

Cut this crap out dudes .

Its just a three way battle . We have just Waugh,Chapple and Moody as the options .

The reason being the three pillars of Indian cricket have their say .Yes Rahul Dravid is For Waugh to be the coach , Ganguly wants Chappel to be and Dalmiya is known to be quite impressed with Moody's work .

So Whatmore he will have to wait I guess.

Some underdogs or darkhouses mi8 be
Faniie De Villers and yes dont forget
Bruce Ried.

THIS IS NOT CRAP.IT'S A REPORT FROM THE NEWS PAPER.

Whatmore vs Waugh? I would definitely go with Whatmore. Remember the Sri Lanka team? If I asked this question to you 10 years ago you would say, "Sri Lanka, do they play cricket?" Even Bangladesh have been improving and applying themselves and playing positive cricket. Why would Waugh be a good coach? Has he even had coaching experience. Going from retirement to coaching a team like India is not exactly a understandable step.

Javid Miandad would be the worst coach avaliable for India. He is a pure India hater.
Also a very bad coach.India tour of Pakistan last year proves this.
Ahem... India hater? Sure he had some grand performances against India, but are you saying he hated India on a personal level? What kind of narrow-minded pile of horsecrap are you eating everyday? Mentality like this shows why there are still people who think India and Pakistan are born enemies.

I think Javed miandad is a bit narrow-minded..when it comes to india but surely he doesn't have any grudge against them personally.
Either Greg Chappell or Tom Moody would be an ideal choice, especially tom. he was quite hard-working and knows the values of it. Wright gave india almost the right activation energy, but what we need is a pure catalyst. Both Aussies are equally good in such terms.

ITS U WHO'S A NARROW MINDED FOOL.THINK OF THE REALITY.

MIANDAD IS OFCOURSE A INDIA HATER.WHEN AKRAM COCHED IRFAN PATHAN HE ACCUSED HIM OF BITRAYING HIS COUNTRY.

AKRAM IS THE REAL PERSON WHO WANTED FRIENDSHIP & NOT MIANDAD.
AKRAM SAID HE GAVE HIM TIPS AS A SENIOR CRICKETER AND DID NOT SEE WHAT COUNTRY IRFAN BELONGED TO.

IF I WAS NARROW MINDED AND DID NOT WANT INDO-PAK FRIENDSHIP I WOULDN'T HAVE SUGESTED AKRAM TO BE THE COACH.

READ ALL THE PREVIOUS POST BEFORE POSTING CRAP.

Just a pointer, making your posts in CAPS-LOCK LIKE THIS adds absolutely no credibility to your comments. If anything, it decreases the same for that post.

I think all this is crap . BCCI has narrowed down on three names

Steve Waugh
Tom Moody
Greg Chappel

It has all come down to favouritism now among team members.
Its not a hidden fact that Ganguly has for long wanted Chappel to be the coach.
Dravids choice had got the nod last time around and his pick this time around is Waugh
Tom Moody is the more obvious of chances cos of his good showing as coach in English circuit.

Also cant leave out possibilities like Reid ,Rhodes and Barry Richards as specialised coaches.Ganguly has shown inclinations on this topic as well .And alll this gentleman mentioned are not averse to coaching INDIA.

See what I have said way back on 24 th March has happened today .
Jaggu bhai's backing of Ganguly has once again come to the fore.
