John Wright to quit

Javid Miandad would be the worst coach avaliable for India. He is a pure India hater.
Also a very bad coach.India tour of Pakistan last year proves this.

how about our very own fardin.he's already an international coach.

anyhow farewell john.
you really did a wonderful job with the indian team for last 4 and half years. He will go down in the record books as the most successful coach ever.He took india to innumerable tournament finals. For 2 consecutive years india were the icc champions trophy finalists and they were also the world cup finalists.
Most creditable performances

Pak tour 2004

Here is the best idea:
I think ganguly should retire and become Indian coach
(good for everyone)

John has been the best coach for India but India lost in his last match as coach.
Wouldn't be memorable for him.

From what is being said here it seems John Wright's tenure is over. In that case who is coaching us for the ODI series? Or are we just playing coachless?

The board always has Gavaskar. He is hanging around the Indian team now days.I think he would be the temp. coach.

gavskar wouldnt be there if espnstar get the cricket rights.

anyhow ..my vote does go for world waugh II

India must make their choice very very carefully, a poor choice could undo all the good work done by the indian cricketing establishment and return them to the state they were in the 90s. People in the sub continent are reactionists and it will start up a vicious circle of sackings and appointments like Pakistan have gone through the past 7 years. It can be very detrimental.

I dont think India might do the same thing that Pakistan does. We tend to give some more time to our players and coaches.

All this is going by the Indian selection process so far.

one thing for sure, India have to have a foreign coach..domestic coaches even if they are past great cricketeers just does not work.

How about kapil dev?He has been hanging around In the indian dressing room for long time,The one coach That I thought was always good for india is robin jackman,he Is a good commentator for sure, also they can go with Ian healy,He is also good.

Kapil Dev had already been India's coach I think and was not sucessful.

India must have a foreign coach only or they will intrfere in the selection.

Like Sandeep Patil keeps on telling to include Dinesh Kaarthick in the squard instead of Dhoni. He even told it on the day the squard for the first 2 ODIs were announced.
If he was the coach Kaarthik would have been in the squard.
(That's good anyway in my point of view,in the case of Kaarthick, but if the player the coach wants is not good, then the team would be spoilt)
I prefer Kaarthick as keeper.

Why would you make a person a coach if they are a good commentator? Hell, I'm a good commentator--why doesn't India make me their coach? Yes, Kapil Dev was the Indian coach for a period and his 'performance' wasn't that good. I think the last domestic coach was Anshuman Gaekwad and they had managed to win something under him. I think they won their last game under Gaekwad.

And Wright isn't off yet. He's leaving after the ODI series. So here's to India winning the ODI series for Wright. And lets see how the BCCI manages to muddle up the coach selection process.
